u r a good instructor...llooking forward to more instructional video from you....i get stuck at v5 and would like to know what changes i need to make to move from v5 to v6 is a really big change....do i need strength training or just better footwork technique or both?? i see lots of ppl train after they done climbing with hang board stuff....i say v1-v5 if ur technique is bad u still can get away with using strength on hands but once u get to v6 sometimes i get lost and cant even start the problem its like the holds is really shitty to start...

what if u slowly move your left hand off with right hand holding the bottom side pull and then left hand on the above side pull and slowly try move your body forward as much as u can before taking ur right hand off the bottom left side pull and putting it on the pinch piece on your right??

Thank you, really appreciate it! Unfortunately without knowing much about your climbing its hard to give advice on how to go pass your plateau. My best advice is to focus on technique before you consider strength training but then again you need to know what your weaknesses are and build up that strength, this could be physical or a technique you're lacking. I'm thinking about doing a video of talking about my plateau which could help you. This way I can explain where I was weak and what I did to get better. Thats probably the best way I could help, by example. Keep an eye out for that video ;) Thank you!

@@rockentry i dont climb often maybe like 4 times a month if lucky so its like once a week compare to people who are spending 3-4 days a week at the climbing gym. I'm like a legit v3-v4 but mostly between v4 and up to v5..also depends on what type of problem and how it is set up..i'm good at power moves problems with heel hook involve, or balancing type problem..crimps and some pinch type problems are my weakness.. ..i'm light like 135 ish 5'7 and i pretty fit I do lots of calisthenic when I do get a chance to go to a workout gym (not climbing gym even though some also have weights and pull bars, workout machines, etc).

@@rockentry can you do more on every type of bouldering problem i say at least v5 or up...like a crimpy problem, all pinch problem, sloppy problem, balancing start type problem, volume problems, etc all the different type of bouldering problems you will find/set at a bouldering gym and do the wrong vs right way of solving it...just like your last video on this time of v5 problem? i also feel like some problem is about figuring the best way to hold a certain piece in order to solve it you can make a v5 look like a v2 if technique and everything goes well the way you hold a bouldering hold if you know how to make use of your hands could help a lot...

Just a thing about the KZbin Algo. Make the Video at least 10 minutes long (You can fill those 11 seconds somehow) and add a midroll ad (and end of video ad (hidden in settings), KZbin will then recommend your videos way more frequent cause they make money of it. They would never admit to it but they do prefer vids with ads in their algorithm. And I don't care watching one ad for you :)

I'm super late to the party, but I just wanted to say thanks for these videos. In terms of actually teaching technique, yours are easily the best vids I've seen. Putting the failed attempts side by side with the successful ones is -extremely- helpful to understanding the subtle difference between what I frequently believe I'm doing vs what I'm probably actually doing on the wall. I also appreciate that you show these tips for a wide variety of grades, but in a way that seems approachable for different skill levels. I think a lot of channels with more skilled climbers trying to show technique to less experienced climbers tend to get too hung up on trivial basics and don't really go into depth on the little details that really make a difference once you hit the V4-V6 range.

Great problem and video! At my gym we have a similar problem (graded harder though) on a wall that looks like a beer belly, nice and rojnd, with only vertical wall at the bottom. And the move is incredibly hard, you are throwing from two goodish incut cloper thingys to a sloper right hand and arete left hand, at the same time. Its a sick move but getting the momentum and coordination on it was quite challenging. There you go, just casually describing the boulders at my gym!

Great stuff, I really think I was able to get a few good hints from this! Thanks =) Seems like you didn't finish the route in the end there but went straight for the top edge of the wall? Is that a thing in some gyms? AFAIK, you are supposed to match the top hold. Maybe it was because you did the climb so many times for the video, but it would have been more satisfying as a user to see you actually top the boulder. Cheers!

It was nice, but you don't have to do a double clutch. You can move your left foot onto a hold while holding the lower duel text hold and the small crimp hold. And by utilizing the hold above your left hand while holding the smaller right hand. You'll be able to move slowly and statically to the next right hand in a more controlled fashion. You can do a flick move where you quickly flick your left hand only to the upper hold. Your body should also begin leaning to the opposite side of the opening you'd use for the hand hold. And the left foot should then be pressing down and towards the hold as you move your left hand. Keep tension and so you don't barn-door. And then move your right hand from the crimp to the next hold.

You don’t want to get tired from just down climbing. I would suggest to down climb routes that are much easier and can work on your technique. Now, when you’re climbing hard projects just down climb using easy holds near by grab on to jugs and come down, you don’t want to get too tired from just down climbing. Also, foot work helps a lot when down climbing try not to cut feet. Hope this helps!

Hey Waldo! Great video as always! I have a bit of constructive critisism though, don't take it the hard way as I mean well... Sometimes it sounds like your voice suddenly becomes nasal ( not sure if this is the right definition for it), especially on short words at the end of a sentence ( example 0:28 "climb" ). Maybe it's just a dialect thing that I'm not quite used to. Aside from this bit of nitpicking, your video's are amazing :). Keep up the great effort!

Another thing I've realized, its OK to use the wall when there isn't a good foot hold or if you're on a corner and grip the edge of the wall. I gotta keep telling myself its not "cheating"
@logiconabstractions6596

Seems to me that instead of the double-clutch, you could have gone statically from the gaston on the left (and the right hand foothold to start). The first attempt you showed wasn't that far off, and it seemed it was somewhat rushed (understandable for a first attempt or a move like that). The foothold you do have is also at an advantageous angle (behind your center of gravity, if really close to the wall). Also the gaston is on a big hold popping out of the wall on the left. While it does look pretty sloppy, it is further back from the wall, i.e. not a crimp. All that looks like it might allow to balance your way and counteract the barn door effectively. The other thing to that is that in your attempt, you kept the left foot on. That hold is pretty far off - seems you would be better off using it as a flag (again to counteract the barn door that popped you off the wall). Because the right foor is a little further back, I think you could just balance off that single point, with the left flagging in a way to prevent the rotation. Then gaston on both sides until you shift your center of gravity just above the right foot, then slide the right hand to the pinch. Maybe not thought - always hard to tell without trying. Good vid.

7:50 why didn't you just grab the upper side grip with your left hand and then pushing your body to the right until the hold is good and then grabbing the right one with your right hand? Like 9:04, just with the left hand on the upper side hold. Would this possible?

Another great video. Congratulations Oswaldo! But let me ask you a question: do climbers of varying weights take the same tips? In theory, yes. But because I have more weight than many of my fellow climbers (90 kg, despite 17% fat) I feel that some of the tips are difficult to apply to me. I suggest you make a video by putting on an extra weight vest. What do you think?

Great suggestion Gustavo, although this techniques do apply to all BUT I’ll do this.. I’ll make a future video with a person that is heavier than me to use as comparison, this way it is more realistic than just me adding a weight vest. I’ll see what I can do my friend thanks for the suggestion!

Interesting. The second part of the climb seemed easy for me, while the first part seemed pretty much impossible.

The route is rather straightforward, as are your recommendations: straight arms, hips closer to the wall, using legs not arms etc. all are the very basics of climbing...
