Being laid up with a knee replacement I have been watching your videos back to back as they calm and relax me. They bring back so many wonderful memories of canoe trips we took in the 70's and 80's to Quetico and Killarney. Our gear then was cumbersome and bulky and our canoe a heavy fiberglass and as I always packed too much we were never able to single carry. I would plan our routes accordingly with shorter and fewer portages. However we had some wonderful experiences and now I can watch younger adventurers appreciate what a beautiful province we live in. As you said, keep doing what you love to do while you are able because some day that will change. I am looking forward to watching more 2024 trips.

My first trip to Algonquin was the very same loop in a tandem Mad River canoe. We took the water taxi up Opeongo but paddled the full length back with the wind at our back. Awesome trip, thanks for sharing.

Dad and I attempted this loop in 1990 and regretted not using the water taxi. It was nerve racking crossing the last bit. We had 4 days to do it, so when it took the whole day to get to the top of Opeongo, we decided to just go to Big Crow and come back. Wise choice, as we saw three moose. Loved your videos, but I would sure like more map references. My map is from the 90's but it's a lot like today's. It would be nice to see your camps marked on it too. Cheers from a big fan.

Glad to hear that it turned out to be a good trip for you despite the route change. Thanks for the feedback, I’ll try to show my route more often on a map in future videos. Cheers!

Absolutely my favorite trip. Not sure why... just came across that way in your video. The word that comes to mind is "peaceful"- Despite the battles you had with the wind! Can't wait for the next one!

You mentioned your experiences as a teen with giant old canoes and bad yokes. I remember when i was 14/15 (in early 2000s) on Algonquin Park canoe trips carrying a Wannagan that might have only weighed 10 lbs, but it was just so awkward/painful to carry a wooden box with old leather straps, haha

@@kevinthewild oh, okay... In my last trip I was used the mediamod of the go pro 10black, it was okay at all but not the what I was expected... This year I also think about a solo trip to Algonquin. But I think it is not so easy to do it alone than with a second person. I need to look your videos for inspiration. Maybe I will do a solo trip in the next year😊👍

Thanks Dave! Congrats on the canoe! To answer your question, yes I always bring bear spray with me (even though every bear I have encountered immediately ran away upon spotting me).
