Colour and personality, I love this so much. I really appreciate you highlighting personal meaning too. I have a bookcase and other pieces my Dad built; he died last year so these pieces are so beloved.

Happy New Year, Reynard! You should do a longer video reading a book or something, your voice and intonation is so relaxing.

re: Content. I love hearing you speak about what you see in a space and hope you will do more deep dives. Liked many of these examples but didn't know why (understanding helps to replicate later). You also called out small details I missed or didn't spot. Also thank you for including real life spaces from subscribers. I don't want to see computer generated images or only large spaces that most of us don't live in.

I'd hate the kitty litter in the kitchen, especially under where your dining table is. It's a stunning home though.

What to do if your home has no character? My house is a boring drywall box with zero interest. Just a box... it makes me so sad.
@paintingmonkey2 күн бұрын
I think in that case, the residents bring the character! The ideas about texture, colour, things that tell personal 'stories' for the home and bring us joy to see on a daily basis, those all still apply even when we aren't lucky enough to have some kind of gorgeous architectural detail to play off :).

Decorating takes time. Save up your money and change things but by bit.
@lanasinapayen33542 күн бұрын
That just means you have a blank canvas! The other houses shown in the video were also 'without character' for their time, since all other houses looked exactly the same.

Don't rush to fill the space with perfect furnishings. Imperfection is more interesting. Avoid being lured in by mass produced chachkas, if it's going to occupy valuable real estate, you should at least have a sense of connection with your objects. Plants also help to give a home some life 🌱

You could go to the paint store and get a bunch of paint 'chips' then tape them to the walls and see how you like them. Paint one wall your favorite colour. If there's an echo get a rug that matches the paint. Sit on it. Look around the room. What would add Joy for you to look at..? What would make it cozy.. for you to like being in the space.. and make 'the' space your space..? 😊

The only thing not addressed in any of these videos is BUDGET. Most of us are not made of money.
@brekaterinaКүн бұрын
understanding what makes a design good (ie repeating accent colors in a few places) is the foundation. once you know things like that, you can move forward with a budget that suits you

Beautiful video, but please please never and I'm really serious, one should never hang anything onto pipes or use them for anything other than their original purpose. If they bend and leak, you will be sc**d. We had a customer who had used a horizontal pipe as support for books. Insurance company just laughed.

@terracedtracks19 сағат бұрын
@@nanemoon9968 interesting, noted! Funnily enough I actually took down the plant hanging off the pipe a few months ago (that was my apartment in the video that you are referring to) so that’s good to know!
