I never post comments, but as a struggling single father who can spend waaaaaay too much time making bento/lunches, I totally love this channel. I especially appreciate how she uses the same small tamagoyaki pan for everything. coincidentally I had just bought a smaller tamagoyaki pan, and this one tip is amazing, especially in the early/busy mornings!

When my children were in middle school, their lunch break was extremely late. Class started at 7:45 am but lunch wasn’t until 1:15 pm. They were starving by then, even with a snack break or two. I switched to Japanese style breakfasts of miso soup with tofu, baked or grilled fish, onigiri with tuna or umeboshi and shiso, ochazuke and the like. It kept them fuller longer, but they still complained about late lunch. It got better in high school, but I kept the Japanese breakfast going.

Oh... That is so late lunch. I'm glad the Japanese style breakfast could keep them fuller longer. In Japan, it is often said that rice is more filling than bread. Anyway, you must be so good at making Japanese dishes. I'm sure your children have been thankful to you so much! Hope my recipes will give you some ideas 😊 Please continue to enjoy Japanese foods with your family!

I love the miso soup balls! A little tip back to you is that I pulse the pack of dried wakame in a food processor a few times so that I don't end up with awkward big pieces in my soup. Even if I buy cut wakame it always seems to be too big for soup - fine for salad, but not for soup.

お疲れ様です!めっちゃ良いレシピでした。ありがとうございます。Living in Japan I learnt that all the delicious Japanese food I love can be made quite easily with some simple combination of dashi, mirin, nihonshu, miso or soy. I'm going to try making your miso balls, but instead of balls I'll make enough to fill each square of an ice cube tray to freeze them. Miso cubes! Thank you again for this wonderful video, I learnt so many useful small tricks - like mixing the miso in the ladle at 10:05. Please keep making more videos!

I miss nanohana so much and had completely forgotten about it until watching this video! I always used to get it with karashi when i lived in Japan, but never thought of putting it in miso soup. Now I'll have to try it with broccoli rabe or maybe mustard greens, since it can be hard to find Japanese greens here in the US. Thank you for these quick and simple breakfast ideas!

Hi thank you for this video! I’m 16 and I don’t really know how to cook well, but I’m trying to since in the past I did not have breakfast or lunch since I did not know what to make. I’m going to order some miso since it looks delicious, and I’m actually going to try the rice balls and egg from the first meal today for breakfast. Can’t wait for more of these videos :)

I just stumbled across japanese breakfast and I'd like to try it. As a German I never had soup as part of my breakfast but I love the idea and variety of food like yours in the morning. Coincidentally, my local supermarket has some asian/ japanese ingredients this week, including miso. I planned for making okonomiyaki and a miso soup from scratch in the morning because it seems easy and fast enough to cook. I don't like to prepare breakfast for half an hour before eating. If I end up liking miso soup, I will definitely try the miso balls as it is less time consuming. Thank you!

@@JapaneseCookingChannel slight correction, blanching is boiling a short time and then immediately cooling the item by ice/cold water to stop the cooking.
