So glad I found your channel. I used many of these tips and cleared a ton of space. Question....I have thousands of photos on my phone...I am afraid to delete any in case of loss. I also have them synced to my iMac and iPad. What can you suggest? They have synced with iCloud. Will they truly remain? Thank you!

Hi J Macwain, photos are so precious we never want to lose them. I think you’re doing the right thing by not deleting them. As long as they are backed up to iCloud I think they are pretty safe.

- I made a Restart button for my phone using Shortcuts. So much smoother. Go to Search Actions, Restart. Pick Shutdown, click on blue text and change to Restart. Choose custom color, icon if you like, rename if you like. Then save the Shortcut to screen. This is also the best dirt simple intro to making a Shortcut and button for it. - I find that my phone slows because of new apps having many intrusive monitoring features on. Why any XYZ app needs to track you is a mystery?! I only leave that on for maps, etc. and option only when in use. There are many other intrusive monitoring to be dug up in Settings too. This all slows you down. Another is be sure to turn off all apps using cellular that you don’t need using cellular.

Trouble shooting ??? I finally began to use Translate this week, my text was being translated to Simplified Mandarin as I either typed or spoke , and suddenly, or not so suddenly ( I may have watched a video about some iPhone skill? and changed a setting) and BAM nada, a message in the English half of the window " Translation not available" Any thoughts anyone????

Thank you Ellen, i really appreciate your response..but no luck. Half of the screen still reads " Translation not available". Additionally, as has been the case since reaching out, under the message is a black box with, "Download. Offline La... "To translate offline, please download and select the languages first. You can choose to always translate offline in Settings. [Download Languages ]- in the lovely teal colored Font I'd selected. I have deleted and reinstalled the App once or twice hoping that was the fix but, not the solution. I am happy to say that I have been watching your videos and will be ever grateful for the "Long press" video. That tip alone is so intuitive and a real time saver. I have been using the iPhone since the iPhone 3, then the 3G, the 4, maybe a 4S before the SE in 2016, lost or pinched at a Buddhist temple in Quanzhou, Fujian China, the replacement SE carried me until 2021 {there may have a 2nd one?, now I am the sad owner of the 12 ProMax which is the worst experience. The 2 button screen shot is .....a really poor design choice, I have deleted hundreds of "butt" screen shots since October of 2021. I'm an artist teaching in classrooms and use the phone daily to capture the students at work and to document their progress. { Yes, I have too much time on my hands at the current moment but ....) Just occurred to me to ask my ever devoted assistant ChatGPT. Good suggestions but hopefully 17.5 update will cure the problem.

Sorry to hear you’re still having problems. I’ll dig a little deeper and see what I can find. It sounds like you’ve done all the troubleshooting. If you find the fix please post it here for others. Thanks Could you try this and see if it works: Go to Settings >Translate> toggle off on Device Mode
