Hello guys, thanks so much for the support. The channel was demonetised, me demotivated, but wanted to make a video a while back just for you. The video is here, I will try to continue with the production. Surprisingly, KZbin reconsidered and allowed monetisation again. I love you! EDIT: You came with an idea for me to make a Patreon account. Anybody feels so to support me this way click here: www.patreon.com/user?u=25958070

Welcome back! Just a slight note: The Corolla AE86 had the 4A-GE engine, but it was in 16v not 20v guise (visible on the valve cover for the eagle-eyed). The Corolla RSi and RXi made in South Africa from 1997-2002 were the only production models who received this engine outside of Japan (the "Black Top" variant, which was the second iteration of the 20v engine, replacing the "Silver Top"). The major difference between the RSi and RXi was the trim and details - the RSi had cloth seats and manual windows, while the RXi had leather seats, electric windows and more expensive wheels. from the factory.

I had a 1988 Yamaha FZR 1000 that had 5 valves per cylinder.
@BlackCatRedScarf5 жыл бұрын
Spoiler: 5 valves isn't much more effective than 4 valves. Despite the theoretical bigger area to let the air flow, the extra valve interferes in the flow, resulting in a very low advantage for such expensive and complex engine head. A good cylinder head design for better air flow, variable camshaft and a nice modern low lag turbochargers are much cheaper, simpler and effective nowadays, rendering the 5 valves technology outdated. Nothing more than a market stunt and gimmick for production cars of that era, but that never prevented people from feeling excited about it and enjoying their own cars at fullest.

Ti M Yes, if 5 valves were any better than 4, all engines these days would have 5.

I am glad to have a chance to help tune, and race a 1987 FZR1000(Not car but, 5valve!), and recondition a rare FZ 750...that cost me my money! The Toyota engines that are equipped with the 'G' designation are Yamaha developed as I know so far. It apparently all started with the 2T-G on the 2000GT until the 4A-GE Blacktop and the last 3S-GE which were the most potent ones. Kudos to the 1JZ and 2JZ blocks with same letter. Even here, we used to think that the difference between the 'G' and non-G variants are the DOHC and 4 or 5 valve/cylinder, because that is how it was!

I wish Kai cars were legal for US mass market sales. You’d see some pretty big engineering feats to make those engines produce enough power to drive a heavier body that can pass US crash safety tests and still meet US highway speeds and traffic acceleration, while still remaining reliable with 6k mile service intervals, and still meet emissions and economy standards. You could easily build it like a Smart Car and put a stroked out 660cc R6 engine in it, making 120hp, but emissions, economy, and daily drivability would tank.

Yamaha had a seven valve round cylinder engine in the 90s. They did not mass produce it because they said it was too difficult to service. I believe it had a three piece head, and two spark plugs per cylinder
