I've actually removed the detector range mod until I can figure out whether range and artifact spawn can be separated (I've unpacked the config - just need to look at it) - because I discovered it to be counterproductive for artifacts to appear (spawn) too far away for me to get to and grab before they bounce away and phase out. I've found it easier to actually grab them by going back to default close activation / spawn. On a side note, artifacts that spawn inside anomalies - ie. right on sprigboard or inside gravity bubble can be pushed clear by shooting them - ie. use detector + pistol - and when they appear, shoot them to push them thru out the other side then circle round to locate them again. They will phase out but should reappear in the area you pushed them to. Grenade might owrk too but it's cook off time might be too long - the artifact may phase out.
