Yonder completely caught me off guard. The game is basically an exploration Sim with farms and crafting. Everything in the game is subpar except for the exploration which is absolutely amazing

A Short Hike became an instant favourite for me! So, so lovely. I'm really excited to try Alba. I love how there's birdwatching in it that seems pretty accurate. Birdwatching needs to be a thing in more games. I loved how I could kind of find different animal species in BotW.

Gotta say, A Short Hike was a great shout, I remember being charmed as hell when I saw it in the direct a while back and spent a good 2 hours or so just wandering around, just the look of the game and the simplicity of it took me right back to being a kid spending hours on my ds. Also although not an exclusive, Firewatch would have been a great addition to the list.

That's a very keen observation about BotW's camera angle. It did always feel a bit different. Just right. A Short Hike is such a fantastic little experience. I must say, though, that as much as I love the concept of the chunky graphics I found them a bit difficult to look at after a wall and opted to play with smoother ones. Alba looks so stinking adorable.

I LOVE A Short Hike. It's such a nice cute little gem. BotW invited me to avoid the main quest entirely for 55 hours, which is when I defeated the first blight. There is so much to see. Have not played any of the other games, though I had heard of both Yonder and Rime.

I do agree that there should be priority in environment exploration, and how a lot of recent games don’t do it well. But, a game that does both; incentivize exploration with potential rewards AND provides a meaningful environment to simply get lost in is the best. One of those games for me is Fallout 3. I wanted to explore everything that game had to offer, because I wanted rewards but also because its setting was super interesting to me.

I really enjoyed exploring in both Fallout 3 and 4, although I’m 100% sure I would say it was quite the same as sightseeing, especially in 3. 3 feels very empty and dead in most of the game world, but I’m sure that’s the point lol
