I'm liking the BFD Player. Even though it says it's only one kit, each one of the presets sound completely different. I was also able to pickup two more drum kits around Black Friday (Mahogony and &0s Kits I think) for $10 each which expanded my tonal options even further. What's cool abut the SSD player is that you can find Grooves for it all over. I'm surprised though that you didn't mentions Monster Drums though. That thing is my goto whenever I need the Brush Kit or Cajon.

Sean Pandy Drums is how you make all of these sound like you're not using a sample library. If you want your drums to not sound like everyone else, blend 2 or more sample libraries together. Mute the kick and snare from one, and use the kick and snare from another, etc. just don't use room mics from two different kits unless you can completely disable the drums you're not using, it will cause phase issues.

Yays! More freebie drums. 😎 I'm always looking for more grooves and different drum sounds which are easy enough for me to use. *does drum roll (out of time, of course)* I will have to check out the BFD free drum kit, especially as the "Mystery" setting seems to have been directly taken from the Pretenders "Mystery Achievement" if the sample on the webpage is anything to go by. Cheers!

I hope you find some more goodies here. BFD Player has some great 80s sounds in it. I noticed a couple of presets that have a Jesus and Mary Chain vibe to them which for drums in general probably isn’t impressive but for 80s fans it’s the stuff! lol. Thank you for continuing to watch. Keep creating! 👊👍

There is another incredible free drum kit, though for a full Kontakt, DS Drums by Red Pack Drums. It sounds amazing! And Bogren Digital has a free metal kit, though limited to a stereo kit.

Hi. All except bfd will have a MIDI mapping section or it might be just the setup section or whatever. Then just use the red button beside each sound. That is the MIDI learn button. After arming the MIDI learn you just hit whatever pad you want that sound to be triggered by

hello talking about multichannel, what does it mean? I would need a multichannel interface to support that or what is it have to be multichannel among my gear?
@AudioTechTV3 ай бұрын
These are just plugins so you won’t need any modification to your hardware. Multichannel means that you can route each individual drum to its own track. This will allow you to add compression, eq, and other effects to the individual drums. To use a multichannel instrument plugin you will just need to use a DAW program that supports this feature.
@mjaa13073 ай бұрын
@@AudioTechTV Hello, thanks for your answer! I have downloaded MTPowerDrumKit2. So if I set for instance the Kick to channel 1 and the Snare to Channel 2, I need to create 2 tracks and select Channel 1 input for one of the tracks and channel 2 for the other. Is that correct?
@AudioTechTV3 ай бұрын
Every daw handles multichannel instruments different so it kind of depends on your DAW.

Do any of these sound better than EZ Drummer? Cuz I've been using it for 4 years and I'm sick of the sound of it.

Zane, do any of these have fills to use for each groove as MT Power Drums does? That's what keeps me using MT, how easy it is to add fills throughout the song. I've been blending it with Labs Percussion for a bit of variation, but I wouldn't mind trying something else if I don't have to write all of the fills myself. Thanks for the vid! 👊🙂👍

Try muting the kick and snare on MTPDK and using the kick and snare from something like Sean Pandy Drums, instead. If you use Sean Pandy, it has a sub blower, and if you don't use it on low volume and velocity with the kick, you can use it loud and proud as a layer for 808 bass drops, if you're doing music that calls for it, like Pop Mosh, Metalcore, Deathcore, Grindcore, etc.

I'm older than your father. Can I assume that each of these is a tool to write complete drum patterns for songs, or is it pasting sampled patterns and fitting music to available drum rhythms? I'm an old, retired musician who hasn't recorded for decades, but friends wrote songs around available drum patterns. I wrote drums for songs that were absolutely open to interpretation by the drummer, but were original parts. I used a Roland model something drum machine to write drum parts when I last recorded back in the early/mid 90s because I'm frankly not that good of a drummer but wanted drums tailored to my music. I don't have any problem writing every drum on a time chart, if that offers a hint. I have zero experience recording on computer, which is why I'm doing this research and asking questions. Any input is appreciated. Thanks for the video.

You can program all of these with midi or record using e drums or a midi keyboard. Also with all of them you can bring in pre programmed drum midi files. But you may need to edit the files a bit because they could have been recorded using a different drum plugin that might have a different mapping. A few of these actually come with drum patterns that you can easily drag into your project and will work right away. They also allow you to audition the drum grooves before you bring them in. My power drum kit is probably the most user friendly out of them all and actually comes with quite a few drum grooves that you can easily drag into your projects. Modo drums CS and BFD Player also include drum grooves that you can drag in but they allow for more customization of the sounds which could make them feel a little more complex. However if you just stick with the presets they’re still easy to use. One that isn’t free but I find to be super easy to use and sounds good to is EZDrummer 3. It’s not free but not overly expensive. I remember using an old Yamaha drum machine back in the 90s and using these plugins is way easier than those old drum machines. For me anyway. Good luck with all of this.
