I really loved this. I have seen some of those stories written by people complaining that Medium isn’t giving them a fair shot. I’m only in my 5th month of writing for Medium, but already I can see that attitudes like this will get the writer nowhere. No, Medium won’t penalise the writer. But it’s not an attitude that is useful for the writer to have. So far, I’ve had two stories go viral and due to sickness, haven’t been able to write anywhere near as many articles as I want to be. But I’m reaching my earnings goals and very happy with my progress. The people I see complaining seem to have a pattern. Their editing isn’t quite up to scratch. Often, they haven’t been around long enough to get the results they feel entitled to. I saw one article complaining about Medium not giving them a fair shake, who’d only been writing on the platform for two weeks!

Hi Zulie- You talk like I do. Direct, to the point, and no excuses! Love it!! I write. A lot. Haven't published on Medium yet, but I'm about to and I'm glad I listened to you before I did! I write for my "real" job all the time, and it is of course a very different style. That is a different world where I tell people what to do, how to do it and they listen (most of the time) because that is what they hire me to do! Obviously, I'm finding my voice in this different "medium" (no pun intended), well maybe. You do a great job of explaining that a writer needs an addictive style that people want to read, are compelled to keep reading and will want to read again. I've been binge-watching your videos tonight and am impressed, Zulie. Thanks for honest reviews about Medium. Long ago I wrote on a platform called squidoo which was highly enjoyable and a wonderful community. Unfortunately the Squidoo ship sunk quite abruptly when the owner sold out. Even though that was over a decade ago, a few of us have remained in contact, and we all miss those days. Some publish on their own blogs now, not wanting to trust a platform that may not treat them with respect or possibly dump the platform abruptly. Coming to this video in 2023. I'm reading Nicolas Cole's book 'The Art and Business of Online Writing' It appears there is - or was - a 'magic' formula for writing on Medium. In addition, Nicolas explains the 5 ages of social media platforms. Nicolas began on Medium in 2014 when the platform was in its sweet spot for gaining organic reach.
