What does it mean to be mentally strong? Well, in the field of psychology, “mental resilience” or “mental toughness” is defined as a person’s capacity to effectively deal with stressors, challenges, and adverse situations, and still perform well in spite of their circumstances. It’s also been found to be a significant predictor for both academic and occupational success, as well as physical health, happiness, and life satisfaction. So there’s certainly no debating the fact that being mentally strong matters. But how do we do it? What are the ways we can improve and cultivate our mental strength?
There are also a few habits mentally strong people generally don't do. Curious to know what they are? Check out this video: • 8 Things Mentally Stro...

I have been practicing all of these for a couple of years now and it has absolutely helped in more ways than I can count. I no longer get dragged to the depths for simple slights, I have cut down on negative chatter in my head by about 99% and I have cultivated a much brighter perspective on life finally. I'm not saying that everything is completely squared away but I no longer use my head as the paddle to my boat(if that makes sense). Thanks to this channel and others like it and some good ole fashion therapy, I'm out of the cave. Thank you again for caring, have a good one o/.

Useful video. In life there are only 2 problems--mind and the body. Be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15-20 minutes or more. You can sit or lay down anywhere-anytime. No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. With practice the mind will relax. Keep a reminder to observe your breath sensations throughout the day and night before sleep, at work at home, when travelling etc with eyes open or closed. One more tip is to sit on a chair without moving, be still and observe your breath for a few minutes. Stillness reduces thoughts and brings quick relief. Like me make this a lifetime habit to have a better life. Best wishes--Counsellor.

I am far from being mentally strong right now. Well...I have depression, developing anxiety and mentally breaking down. But I have started self-care and not to lie, I got the idea from you and you are a huge part of it. Thank you.

I am so glad as a person who watch this video for the first time that I have 4 of these 6 habits in myself. everyday I am just trying to be a better version of myself and work on my personality and I love the fact that after watching this video I understand that all that effort is actually worth it.

I love how this video is a *huge* confirmation of the self exploration, healing, and changes to my mental habits. Its like redirecting a big ship sometimes, the results don't show up for a while and there is a period where it feels like it's not actually changing....holding onto the faith that healthier habits will yield a healthier reality has been my biggest challenge. However, I continually see improvement to myself and other relationships as I get past the hurdles and fears of holding my new boundaries. Thank you for these videos, it helps me share with others where I'm coming from and what changes I've been making in my life in an easy to follow and enjoyable format. (I also loved the squishmallow at the end-I have three in this room, my pups stole them for beds....)

Love all of this, especially the part about emotions. Our society glorifies how we “feel” about everything! We are not our emotions. We have emotions. We have the ability to decide to act in spite of our emotions and not be controlled by how we feel.

First of all, DON’T YOU DARE START HATING YOURSELF AND/OR BLAMING YOURSELF FOR HOW THEY ARE ACTING! Don’t make excuses for them! When someone shows you their true colours, BELIEVE THEM. Secondly, know that you are amazing, unique, and loved, no matter what, okay?? (Sends big virtual hug through the screen) ;-; I know exactly what you are going through...and I am so, so, so sorry. 💛 I am not gonna lie, from experience, it is going to be tough. Really tough. I sadly don’t know the context of your situation, but.....there are two ways this could go: 1.If they are a TRULY good friend (really think that through) try and calmly talk it out, and maybe you two can figure it out. 2.However, and this will be REALLY hard, especially if you two are very close, to see that person as a whole. BOTH the good AND the bad. If they are toxic, and exploiting you, have lied to you, have talked behind your back, all the no no’s....then, honestly, you might want to consider cutting that kind of friendship out, but in a way that leaves you two NOT as enemies, but as strangers with some good memories. If this does happen, PLEASE try and surround yourself with true friends...people that will love you and be there for you no matter what! Special Option 3.OR your friend is going through a tough time, and took it out on you without realizing it. If so, give them time. Also, try and talk about this with your family (if you have a great bond with them, and are open) or, if not, a friend that will listen. It is good to get different opinions on this sort of thing. Yes, heartbreak from a lover can be hard but honestly.....heartbreak from loosing a best friend is tenfold that kind of pain.... PLEASE take care of yourself, drink some water, eat your favourite snack, and talk with people you can trust and that will make you laugh. Also, PLEASE know....you WILL and CAN get through this! I might just be a random person from the Internet, but I KNOW are strong, you are capable, and you are gonna be okay! 💛

@Profile Name I'm sorry about the painful experience you had to go through with people who pretended to be your friends, but please don't project that anxiety on to others. People are different, some will betray you and some won't. If we start to treat each other like enemies, that wil be the end of us. And also, not everyone has good relationships with their family memebers, so trusting someone just because you have similiar genes with them is not always a good idea.
