My mom showed me your channel ! She is a big fan and she loves and liked all your videos !!! She started to have an interest for healthy food when my two brothers became sick... Unfortunately both of them became very sick so she tried and still tries her best to make them healthy food... Trying to help my husband lose weight and this looks like something he would eat. He’s very picky. I tried it myself and thought it was delicious. I hate to sound stupid but I’m new to this. The protein is awesome but I was confused on the high carbs. I know there’s good and bad carbs. I’m assuming these are the good ones? 🤷♀️. As you can tell I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for any help 😊

i think the "bad carbs" are anything white grains like white bread breads, white rice and the "good carbs" are whole grains, brown rice etc..

Anything processed is considered a 'bad' carb, because processing strips the essential nutrients, that keep you full and healthy. So stuff like white bread, pasta, white rice, any kind of pastry etc is a refined, simple carb: basically empty calories which you need to eat a lot of to feel even close to full (which is why people gain weight when eating them). Complex carbohydrates are the other type of carb, found in unprocessed foods, like whole grains, and derivatives made from them (whole wheat bread, pasta etc) quinoa, legumes, and of course fruit and veg. These foods are loaded with slow-digesting fiber and nutrients that are not only beneficial for health but keep you fuller for much longer. Now, this doesn't mean that you can go nuts on whole wheat pasta just because it's healthier for you-in fact because it's unprocessed, whole grains often have a much higher calorie content than regular processed garbage (whole grain bread can have 100-250+kcal per slice, compared to the 90kcal per slice of white bread). But, as I've mentioned, they are loaded with fiber, so even though you eat more calories, in the long run, you end up eating less because they keep you fuller for longer. Moderation is key here, combining moderate amounts of calorie dense grains, healthy omega 3 fats and protein with high quantities of low calorie, fiber-rich veg. Oh and calorie deficits of course-a calorie deficit is quite literally the only thing that will make you lose weight, regardless of what you eat.

@John Smith No, I cook pretty well and I love to do it c:. It's just that usually in all these cooking tutorials, for some reason a lot of people only use salt and pepper and think that's enough, even when making something like jerk chicken or pernil. Where's the garlic, onion, paprika, and adobo etc??? Been cooking for my family since the age of 10 and had no choice but to learn, so I definitely know a little something at least, but I'll never claim to be an expert lol.

Maybe you can help me out. I lived the avocado pasta dish, but the nutrition facts panel listed this entire recipe as one serving for 300 calories. Am I reading that wrong? 4 ounces of whole wheat spaghetti alone is around 350 calories plus half an avocado which on the average adds another 100 calories. Your recipes are wonderful but I'm confused about your nutrition facts.
