Believe it or not, this is exactly what I did this morning. I have the smallest kitchen known to man as I live in a bungalow for old folks. But this old person, 76, still loves cooking and I need a lot of things. Most of the appliances have to be stored in the spare bedroom which is now my store room. Have only just started sorting so it will take a while. You know that feeling, you want to do something but have to do 3 things before you get to what you really want to do? This is my life. So what is good for me now is to sit back, watch you work and might even get a couple of ideas. Great video.

Gosh do I feel that .. I call it jigsaw puzzling, because I rent an 880sq ft house and if I want to move something I need to move 4 other things to move that one thing.. its sooo annoying! And once you get into the cleaning/organizing you enter that phase of it looks like a Category 5 Hurricane came through mess.... I have to keep telling myself that it will all turn out better in the end.
@lynnedean713

@@michellem4118 LOL, you have hit the nail on the head. I thought it was just me but judging from some of these comments, we all live in houses far too small for us. On the other hand, a bigger house would mean more cleaning! I often moan that only a man could have dreamt up the layout of my house (sorry men) because my lounge is L shaped, so if the architect could have made my kitchen bigger and the lounge a long rectangle, it would be perfect. Still, at least I have a house to call my own when there is so much homelessness going on in England, America, Australia, Ireland. The whole world has gone mad.

The jar with the metal to lock the lid can easily be dismantled before washing the glass parts. Just pinch the back part of the lid part and work it loose. Take off the clip that holds the ring on the jar part. I do it every time I wash them. If you have different size jars of this type, it is a good idea to keep control of which set belongs to which jars, as the metal parts will vary in size too.

I decided that my corner cabinet had to be used for things I don't use so often as it is tough getting in there for smaller items that could fall off the shelves, etc. So, I have several appliances like a drip coffee maker that I only use if I have a larger group to serve, my hand mixer, Vitamix, etc. I find that has worked better for me. If you continue to use your corner cabinet for spices, I think I would look for some clear containers that would fit on the turntables to further categorize the areas on the turntables. Organizing our kitchens is a fact of life I guess.

@Becky Hello, I want to suggest keeping the smaller latch top containers, you could use them to organize some of your flower or plant seeds. If not you can definitely use them to store items you make for Christmas to give away. They would make a beautiful container for a present for someone (jam/honey/tea/spice blend). I enjoy watching your clean and organized, it motivated me to give my own small one a (all the cabinets doors, walls, base boards, counter tops and floors) a good wipe down. Which carried onward to the bathroom to do the same thing. I am working on my own system for spices and I have a couple of large decorative jars with those types of lids you are using which I really like for my instant coffee and sugar. I am finding my pint size mason jars (even though I am only cooking for myself) to be too small for the items I want to store. Which are usually items like, brown sugar, sugar, salt, flour, dry pasta, dry seaweed, Korean beef dashi powder. Right now I have a hodge podge collection of containers going of different shapes and sized lol. I am hoping to change that in the future.

A tip I learned from Kallie @ That Practical Mom is to hang a dish towel inside the DW right after it has finished. I notice a big difference when I don't do it. It soaks up the moisture & items dry more quickly. I can skip the heated dry setting, which saves energy, too.

Am loving seeing the organization. I got the chance in school to learn about professional organizers. But, for me cleaning the spice cupboard, going through my jars, and cleaning up the mess made through the year makes me feel like doing more. On a side note, your dogs are so adorable and I’m adding thought bubbles to what they might be thinking as they hang out in the background! Also, I’d love to see a video on dog or pet stuff (treats and home care) and a totally new subject that I’m wanting to learn about is aquafaba.

The new old solution looks awsome, I would keep the bigger jars so you dont end up with spices that dont fit when you buy new bags of spice. If I were you I would put all spices on the rim and make it go all the way to your oil and salt. I believe you would use it up more if you had it in front of you instead of in the cabinet. Loved the video

To keep the dust contained on your upper cabinets, place either paper towels or cheap kraft paper on top. When you are ready to clean, just throw away the paper and get rid of the dust.

Becky once again, you have inspired me! Not as much as you, but I use a lot of spices when cooking. I'm redoing my cabinets, and bought some wooden lids for wide mouth jars for large amounts of things and a bunch of new smaller 4 oz jars with labels. My spice cabinet is a disaster. I will also be cleaning them and relining them too! Thank you for your inspiration. Hopefully it will help me too! Much love to you and thanks again! ❤❤❤❤❤

Hi Becky, when you wash the jars, you should take the rubber bands off and wash them separately. Otherwise, there may be spice residue underneath and the moisture underneath can cause mold to form. The rubber bands are the same size, so you don't have to put them back on the same jar after washing. Maybe you can use the jars later to fill them with honey. Or give them as a gift filled with freeze-dried spices and your friends can come back every year and have their jars refilled again. I use mine to marinate onions or yogurt cheese balls. Or for flower potpourri. Home made tea mix or to make vanilla sugar. ❤❤❤ I am sure you will find something. Btw Telly pepper is realy nice, its a bit citrus and not to strong. Also look for Kubeben pepper, its a bit more pricy but so good and healthy. I like to use long pepper , it reminds me of 5 spice and gets ground like nut meg. Wonderful for Asian dishes. I always have 5 or 6 kinds of pepper corns mixed and ground up fresh when needed. ❤

Love the shelf told my hubby I want him to put one up for my spices so easy to get to. Your cabinet with oil and vinegar I too put turn tables and so easy to get to. Your top empty one would be good for over fill spices. Next time the jars with wire you can take the wires off, but I agree they are a pain I’m slowly changing mine out lol seems they always get crooked to close. Love watching you organize, cook and garden. Remember doesn’t matter how old we are there is always something to learn. Keep up showing all. Love it

It's one of the things I love about my DW. It gets things very clean every time and they're dry! You have to let it go through the whole dry cycle, though. I think Becky is often in a hurry to get things out so she can reload. I've heard that new ones no longer have heated drying cycles so I'm praying mine doesn't die before I do! 🤣🤣

When I had a corner lower cabinet with the two decker lazy susan (just like yours'), I found the best use for it was not stuff I frequently needed. I instead used it for larger kitchen items like appliances, special dishes etc. It is much easier to spin and pull out a dish from there, than getting small items lost constantly in the back or spilling etc. Just an idea! You could then use your easier access cabinets where you stored those types of items for your constant-need items like spices etc.

I love it when all my spice jars match but, like you, I could not keep track of what I had more of elsewhere. I solved the problem and still kept the cute jars by putting a clear glass marble in the bottom of the spice jar if I had more down in storage. That way I was never guessing if I should buy more without dashing downstairs to look around. If there was a marble, don't buy more quite yet--just replace from downstairs at my leisure. Works great for me!

I had the same issue with my lazy Susan cabinet. I switched out food products for small kitchen appliances (Instant Pots, Food Saver, Kitchen Aid attachments, etc). It’s been a huge help. Edited to add: I know this is after the fact, but if you have little jars like that again, save them for your garden seeds. I like using them for seed saving or when a particular seed packet gets damaged. They’re also great for sharing seeds with friends.

Hi Becky! I'm so glad that you went back to your mason jars with the wooden lids for your spices. It helps many of us more than you know with our own organization projects.😊
