If you're starting a new business, here's a post about the minimal legal documents you need to start an online business: www.elizabethpottsweinstein.com/ask-epw-what-documents-do-i-need-to-start-a-small-business/

Thank you for your videos! They help a lot! I have a question on new TCF v2.2. Does a business have to comply with this new standard? We advertise through Google Ads but not sure if we have to update our policies. Thank you!
@ElizabethPW Жыл бұрын
If you collect info from EU residents, then yes you'd comply with GDPR and any new updates to those frameworks

This is a lot to digest. Now I understand why some people in business hold off on creating websites. Do the companies from which people purchase domains and web hosting usually offer safeguards for this?
@ElizabethPW2 жыл бұрын
Some of them do give tips about the rules and even provide templates, like for privacy policies
@D_Lissette Жыл бұрын
Where can we get the template?

Generally I recommend termageddon.com/ for good website policy / term templates

I intend to make a personal website, I won't collect any info cuz it is just me, do you think there would be something needed if it just a static website that do not sell or collect anything?
@ElizabethPW2 жыл бұрын
If you are collecting zero information (not even cookies or a contact form) then there's no privacy policy needed because you are not collecting anyone's information that needs to be private. :) But whether you need any other terms/disclaimers depends on what you are saying (like someone writing about health issues may want a disclaimer that it's not medical advice etc).

Whats the best way for a small business to go about creating these legal documents on a website, like the terms and conditions and privacy policy?
@ElizabethPW3 жыл бұрын
Obviously you can have an attorney draft custom documents for you. But another way to handle it is via a service like termageddon.com/ - you want something where an attorney is drafting the forms and they are up-to-date and valid for your location.

Hi. I'm in the UK I wanted to start a hobby blog. With no monetization. But information on the subject is not ready available. Would I still need to have some of these on my blog. Thank you
@ElizabethPW3 жыл бұрын
Yes you would need a Privacy Policy that complies with UK data protection law (and probably also GDPR if anyone from the EU will access your website)

What about ADA requirements for people with disabilities?
@ElizabethPW3 жыл бұрын
Good point! Seems like the law is still unsettled whether private companies are required to have ada compliance websites, but it is still a good and ethical idea.

Hey Elizabeth, If my website is being built, and I just have a coming soon page visible to the public, can I have a place to solicit email addresses? I’m just concerned that the person giving their information does not have access to my privacy policy yet. Can this be solved by sending them an email for them to consent to receive email marketing for me?
@ElizabethPW3 жыл бұрын
The short answer is that if you collect emails, you need a privacy policy on there. It can be pretty simple since just collecting emails. Having an opt-in consent is great and helpful for any EU people, but the privacy policy is still needed.

I am going to start training institute website....Whether I want to take register legally my institute
@ElizabethPW2 жыл бұрын
Whether you need to register a business (such as a website institute) depends on where you are located, what you are selling, and the ownership structure (like a corporation).

Is everything in this checklist applicable even for a free online tool?
@ElizabethPW2 жыл бұрын
Assuming you collect anything from the people (even cookies), then yes. It's not about charging money - it is about collecting info.
