Today we play the Cyborg after I got tipped off by ‪@Gigawood‬ and ‪@risingtoastcheesecake4730‬ to use him with the new item Nail, which converts 20% of the Engineering we have into weapon damage. The Cyborg has a 350% Ranged Damage multiplier, but converts it halfway in a 1:2 ratio into Engineering, which usually makes his ranged weapons - one of which being a Minigun he starts with - useless, however with the Nail we can still use the ridiculous Ranged Damage scaling. Math wise, each point of Ranged Damage is worth 3.5 Ranged Damage, which is then converted into 7 Engineering. 20% of that is then turned into weapon damage, so even at our weakest point we still get 1.4 Ranged Damage out of each point of Ranged Damage we pick up - and since the Minigun is one of if not the fastest firing weapon in the game, it can make perfect use of the stat.

As someone who lived in Berlin (city part called "Spandau"), I can confirm Germans are a coinflip - either the most stereotypical bunch, or party-to-rave vibe checkers. Context: It went like this - the construction chief at Indonesische Banhoff came to a rough base in tuxedo, Indonesian diplomat-in-chief right behind him with his entourage (everything was checked to the last dot). Once we left the construction, about 70yo guy was doing his calisthenic/gymnast routine, about 100-150m further in the park the techno guys were dancing. Another 50m later and one could think he is on the nude beach (fully nude sunbathing). This was in the vicinity of the Pillar of Victory, in the direction of Brandenburg Gate.

Hey Dex, Bloody hands (the item that converts lifesteal to dmg but take 1 hp per second) works with tardigrade because tardigrade only nullify the damage taken from enemy, not from items. So you can take them together

video gets released and less than a day later, the key item: Nail has had it's rarity increased to purple (wave 4 shop at the soonest) and now gives a penalty to ranged damage as well a bonus to engineering. I think blobfish might be paying for member access and getting professional QA testing XD

250%×2×0.2=1 so up to the middle of the wave you get ×2.5 dmg, and afterwards ×1. average of ×1.75 dmg. amazing for fast boss kill, great for wave clear. almost as good as the Pacifist

Keep in mind the 250% is actually 350%, you get a bonus of 250% (so 1 gets +2.5 on top) :D So when it's converted to engineering, you still get +1.4 damage per Ranged Damage. And since the Minigun "only" gets 75% Damage from Ranged Damage, it's 2.625 damage per Ranged Damage. In other words, it almost halves the damage upon conversion but you still gain more out of it than a character would if they get 100% value out of Ranged Damage

To put it in simpler terms the nail gives your weapon an effective 40% damage scaling of your current range damage via the doubled engineering. This means it has the most effect on weapons with naturally low scaling. With the red minigun, going from 75% scaling to 40% results in 53% of the original damage. However for comparison, the purple minigun has 50% scaling and going from 50% to 40% results in 80% of the original damage which is why there was little difference early on.

17:15 dps calculation expected dps = dmg / cooldown * (1+ crit_chance * (critical_dmg - 1) smg = 113/0.097 * (1+0.13*0.5) = 1240.67 minigun = 67/0.059 * (1+ 0.13*0.75) = 1246.3 it's about the same. If you omit crits, smg has higher dps at 1164.95 vs 1135.59 By the way, nail works because 1 range damage turn into 0.5 damage at the start, and 2*0.2 = 0.4 damage at the end. It is only a 20% loss. For higher tier miniguns and smg, the damage loss is worse

You could consider doing this kind of run but have a weapon or 2 that don't even scale with ranged damage. It'll still get the 20% engineering bonus and could be OP because of that. It just means surviving the first half of the wave with that weapon being nearly useless. Like that flamethrower at 35:25. Post-conversion, it's the same damage, speed and everything as the miniguns... but has way more piercing. I'm sure there are even more broken weapons for it.

If he didnt buy the extra stomach(which he called useless when it arrived), he might've been dead in wave 20 with that boss attack. Dex, love the content. Pls priotize more stomachs and other accumulating items and stay away from the capping items(shackless handcuffs etc). Even though sometimes they are not very effective, it still makes it more fun to watch you having insane stats.

There isn't really prioritizing, I pick them up when they appear. I'd say that already gives them the highest priority. For Handcuffs/Shackles, I use them to limit the run. Endless is fun to a degree but once every wave becomes a blurry repeat of the last wave and barely anything can be bought in the shop due to inflation (which is necessary, not complaining, just saying it also makes it stale fast) I don't want to continue. And I rather take a death while increasing my damage over quitting or walking intentionally into enemies

Hey Dex, if you're in a Brotato fever you could try a max enemy run on GMO with Loud and Explorer, idk how it is with modded content nowadays but I thought it could make for some pretty funny runs that you could enjoy, keep playing whatever makes u have fun bc the chanel lives from that and it is what makes your vids sooooo enjoyable :3

At 17:13 the minigun has a fire rate of 16.949 etc etc so round that up to 17. 17 shots at 67 damage is 1,139DPS. The SMG has a fire rate of 10.309, so we'll call that 10.3 per second. At 113 damage a shot, 10.3 shots is 1163DPS. Both have the same crit chance, but the Minigun has a higher critical multiplier, so shots from the Minigun will come out slightly on top in regards to being multiplied. All in all, they are surprisingly close. Of course upgrading to a Tier 4 Minigun means the SMG gets outclassed, but still impressive.

At that time, the SMG did 1240 DPS and the Minigun 1246, as in with exact numbers used. The DPS includes the crit chance/multiplier. So in that very moment, they were almost identical EXCEPT that the Minigun has more Piercing. Though usually you don't pierce twice so I'd say it's negligible. The SMG hits harder which has it's own benefits against enemies above the damage threshold (so where the SMG may need 1 shot, the Minigun may need 2), however the Minigun then shines where the SMG wastes a ton of damage. One thing that shouldn't be forgotten though: On-hit-effects like the Giant Belt rely on hit amounts, so here it's a clear win for the Minigun and it's not close (simply because only cooldown counts). And at that time, crit was only 13%, but I think it's safe to assume in Endless you will always hit 100% (giants belt, hunting trophy etc., even if the stat on the weapon wouldn't be worth it that alone would be), and then the higher multiplier makes up for a big difference. And it also matters a ton for when Engineering is converted, since all that matters there is Cooldown, where the Minigun wins hard. But all in all I 100% agree, it's surprising just how close they are to each other

@@DexTag Yep, extremely close, plus as you mentioned, the SMG is far more common and way easier to get to Tier 4. In a general run, the SMG is usually going to contribute more than a Minigun, but if you can get some continuous scaling going, the Minigun is naturally going to punch far above the SMG.

25:30 That was 8 TIMES 99 damage. Certainly not incredibly OP, but it's very strong. Going for turrets certainly would be valid. The only problem is that too much engineering focus means you're too weak for the first half of the waves.

My only issue with it is that you almost never reach the 8x99, like let's say a turret hits them on the other side of the map and I am not around, the moment they move a bit closer the Minigun will kill them. And if the Minigun won't do that, we kinda have other problems :'D I think if I managed to get "Attack Speed is converted into Structure Cooldown", then I think they could have made a big difference and I would have regretted not buying them

(Vi) I just had a run where getting torture was the right call. I was unlucky with healing and had a lot of armor but almost no healing or hp, and I got torture from an elite. That allowed me to focus on pure damage until the end (I still lost due to lack of AoE but that was not related to torture) Granted that is like, 1 in 100 runs but it still has a dumb niche, just don’t think it has red item value. I’d still agree a rework is much needed

Torture 4hp per second is good for chunky who has negative lifesteal and 50% regen. Its other affect being +15 max hp is good for golem who cant heal anyways.

Torture is good for 1-20 runs when you get it early and can then forget about healing for the rest if the game. Or when you're otherwise super unlucky wrt healing.

So... cyborg gets 350% ranged damage, but then converts it all into 2x engineering. And the nail has it become 20% damage. If you get weapons that scale on 100% ranged damage, then you're not gaining that much over the default there. 10 ranged damage becomes 35, then converts to 70 engineering, which is down to being 14 damage on your weapon. At the end of the wave, which is the tougher part, you're only getting a 40% bonus to damage compared to a skill-less character. It's not that insane when compared to other character skills. I suppose the effect does get amplified when comparing with weapons that have less than 100% ranged damage. For a weapon with 50%, that initial 10 ranged damage only give 5 weapon damage, which then becomes 14 weapon damage when converted and the nail applied. Damage is boosted to 280%. So maybe weapon choice is a big deal here. edit: To be clear, it's not a bad combo/strategy, it just doesn't seem all that insane. It's pretty OP with the minigun specifically and especially before they turn red. Purple: 350% ranged equates to 280% post-conversion. Red: 350% ranged equates to 200% post-conversion.

The only issue is that the turrets kinda deal no damage, I looked into them (and their attack speed) and even with the conversion, the turrets barely deal any damage. E.g. a normal turret deals 10+80% Engineering as damage and attacks every 0.78s. So at the end with 252 Ranged Damage, that's 10+80%x504 Engineering = 413 Damage every 0.78s, or a DPS of 529 (it's a bit higher since I had 10-20% attack speed bonus on turrets, but it won't matter) For comparison, our Minigun at that point deals 3+20%x504=103 damage, but shoots every 0.048 seconds, so 2145 DPS. 529 vs 2145 is honestly worth considering, but if 6 of those Miniguns can't deal with the enemies, then a few turrets added won't change that. I'd need a huge amount of Turrets at that point that are in good positions and the loss in Material must be negligible to take it (as in, doesn't make sense to spend a ton of Material on them and making the Miniguns weaker)
