I typed a comment asking why Dex was locking the baits in the shop, and like 30 seconds later he explained the thing about free re-rolls. So I deleted that comment, but I figured I should feed the algorithm by offering engagement.

Glad I saw this. I was having a hard time with this character. I got to wave 19 using sticks, but died. :( I'll try the shredders. Sticks work good early game, but suriving is so hard with melee when a bunch of those dudes start spawning later in the run.

Spear works well for this character, and get a bit of speed early. It let's you hit them hard from a distance and still outrun them.

Great video dex! I also did this with melee weapon. Believe it or not, spear really works well and it's way more consistent than shredder imo. It gives you bonus hp so you are way more tanky, and it has so much range that it kills most of the bait worms in one thrust. If you aim manually, it's basically an easy win. Maybe you could try it for fun sometimes!

This has to be your best run. Its insanely hard to pull this of.... level 2 is impossible same for 3 same for 4. In order to attemp this prepare for a whole day of dissapointment :D you first need to fish 4 shreders on level 1 then you need to pray on the rng god to survive the first few levels :D.

At that point its really not needed anymore for the Sifd. Where did you see the Baby Gecko? It could be that I skipped it but if it was really late then same reason as for Sifd, but I'd be surprised cause its also cheap so I wouldve just locked it for a free reroll

I don’t understand the logic of ‘saving a reroll’ by stacking bait up every roll. As far as I can tell, you would’ve bought them every roll anyways, so all you’re doing is limiting other items being able to show.

If you stack up 4 baits in the shop and then buy them all together, you can roll 5 times for the cost of 4 (as you reroll for free after emptying a shop)

Every time you empty out an entire shop the roll becomes free but the roll cost also dont progress. So if you lock the baits only or additionally other cheap things, you can roll for cheaper since you save on later very expensive rolls

Some case study might be helpful here: Let's say the reroll price is fixed for simplicity: If you earn 500 materials a wave, and the reroll cost is 9, if you always buy and roll for the bait and the bait only, you'll be able to get 50 of them. If you roll and lock baits until the shop is full of them and then you buy them, you essentially uses the cost of 4 rerolls to get 5 baits. If there is a weapon with the sell lost of 5 materials, you still "earn" four if you lock it and buy out the shop for the free reroll. Now imagine the reroll price would go up

Reroll price increases incrementally, but the cost of the items doesn't within the same shop. Since all he cares about is getting the bait, he can get a "free" reroll by locking the baits and buying 3 with 1 cheap item. So your upfront costs are higher, but over time you're saving lots of money on the later rerolls which will cost way more than the throw away item you're buying. And if you do it with a level 1 weapon, you can just recycle it later for a little money back.

Ever roll increases in cost. That's the obvious part cause, well, we see it. Whenever all 4 items are bought, the price of a roll not only goes to 0 but the cost also doesn't progress. So if a roll costs 14, all 4 items are bought, the roll becomes free but the next one remains 14 instead of e.g. 16. This means by buying all 4 items we save 14 material but also 1 reroll progression on all future rerolls, which adds up to a huge amount of money if we do like 50 rerolls, 100 rerolls etc. So if I buy a weapon for 50 and sell it for 35, the invested 15 material is to reduce all future reroll cost increases by 1 step while also making the current one free. And rerolls get very expensive very fast if a lot were done

Yea, whenever my goal is to beat a challenge I record it to use it as potential footage (like when I later properly do it I can reference things), but I just look into it myself and see what's an issue and what isn't, what has to be done and avoided. Same thing for all other challenges like no movement or trying to achieve the highest damage or so.

If you have enough range which it seemed I had, it kinda becomes pointless since everything dies before it can act, up until wave 40. There the speed increase of the enemies can become an issue which is countered by Tardigrades. I dont have a lot of fun when the premise of the run doesnt change at all

Hey i have a question : does the «buy the whole shop to save a roll » applies to other characters too ? Seems to me that it is specifically design for this challenge, isn’t it ?

It works for this character because he's guaranteed a $1 item every roll. Other characters can get a free roll by buying out the shop, but it's way more expensive and thus not worth doing like this.

@@DexTag nevermind buddy. Anyway, have you tried spear? went back myself to fisherman after seeing you fail a bit and spears are much easier early than shredders. Didnt count or optimise but bought all possible baits and actually survived.
