I've had a Tesla Powerwall further offsetting my home's grid dependence for six months now. I added a single Powerwall to my Tesla solar panels 15 months after they were installed. In this video, I share my six month Tesla Powerwall performance numbers including: Solar Offset, Solar Distribution to Home, Powerwall, and Grid, Total Energy Charged and Discharged to Powerwall, Powerwall Efficiency, Energy Value, and Number of Backup Events from October 2021 through March 2022. During this time my Powerwall has discharged over one Megawatt hour of energy to my home and Tesla Model 3. I'll also share with you how many additional Powerwalls I need to add to become 100% Self-Powered through the cold season/winter months.

We are doing a 12.5 kWh PV system in a few weeks, and will add battery back up next year, but we are going to wait for the Powerwall 3. We want LFP chemistry and higher surge capability.

Thanks for watching! Congratulations on your new PV system. Powerwalls are really nice to have, especially if your area has frequent power outages.

Informative video! Quick question: How much power does your solar roof generate in the winter and in particular in the snow?

Hi, I am currently having a 10.32kw solar roof (not panels) system installed. Are information btw. A couple of questions, what is best source to learn how to use the Tesla app? And do you recommend using time of use to charge the battery overnight when rates are lower? The premise is to use the battery when rates are the highest to power most of the home for roughly 5 hours a day when the rates are higher. Thanks!

Thanks for watching! Congrats on your new solar roof! The best way to charge the Powerwall is with solar generation during the daytime. Most likely the Powerwall will be charged by midday so you could use it right away during peak rates. I would only charge the Powerwall with grid power overnight if you find that your Powerwall/s are not fully charged up with solar by the time you need them. I have a Tesla App tour video kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnSufGOvos93ac0 but its version 4.0 and the current version is 4.9. Tesla will have the most current app information here: www.tesla.com/support/tesla-app

Hi, I recently had solar panels installed along with 1 Powerwall. I am searching for videos explaining the most efficient settings to use my system. Do you have any recommendations? I currently have my settings on Time Based Control with my Backup Reserve set to 20% - 80%. Grid Charging is set to No

Thanks for watching! Congrats on your new solar system and Powerwall. We have nearly the same settings but I am in self-powered mode rather than time-based control since my utility plan is a straight rate around the clock. I experimented with changing the backup reserve to a higher level but 20% reserve overall was better.

Q. I got a quote for reroofing 22 square of tile and Canadian solar panels with powerwall for $52k and a payment of $200 with federal rate of 26%. Is that a good price I have no idea been looking around price jump by a lot?
@TeslaFamilyChannel

Thanks for watching! The best way to check would be to get quotes for similar sized systems w/Powerwall from multiple solar companies. Tesla should be the lowest cost in the end. Congrats on this first step of your solar journey!

I have a question: say I get a solar system that costs 60,000 amd monthly payments are 700 a month, how is that saving money?
@TeslaFamilyChannel
@TeslaFamilyChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, If you are ordering a system that has $700/month payments then it's likely because your home currently uses about that cost each month from the electric company. Tesla asks you before ordering about your average monthly electric bill to help get a system sized for your needs. Use my referral link www.tesla.com/referral/shawn68886 and get an estimate on panels and solar roof for your home, then let me know how those estimates compare to what you are currently paying your utility. Tesla has the lowest cost solar in the US.

@@TeslaFamilyChannel hey thanks for the response. What im saying is if I order a system that costs 60,000 total. The monthly payment will be close to $700. I do not pay anywhere near that in energy
@TeslaFamilyChannel
@TeslaFamilyChannel 2 жыл бұрын
@@bernardbusonick343 Need more info. Why are you ordering a system that is $60k if you don't use about $700 per month in electric? 1) did you take shorter loan terms? 2) Or are you ordering solar roof? Which is solar plus a new roof so you can't compare that evenly to just your current energy needs. 3) or did you order several Powerwalls? They give you the security of not having to worry about future outages so also not evenly comparable to only your current energy costs.

We have a 14.4kw solar roof system with 2 power wall which cost $60,000. Our roof was old and we needed a new roof, our electrical bill went from $250-$300 to about less than $50 per month. Our daily usage is around 50kw if not charging the car and about 85kw if charging. Since we PTO in September we haven’t experienced the summer month yet. We are getting $16,000 back from Federal taxes. If financed through Tesla it would be around $550 a month. It is worth it.

Interesting I have a 14 kW system that was installed in May and I only produced 600 kW in June that way back to the grid I saw your picture on my feed that you produced over 1000 kW in June I was just wondering how that is possible I had a lot of sunny days
