I am highly impressed with the results you are achieving with these lights, and it's because of these lights that I discovered your channel as I wanted to see what sort of results other people are getting with them. I've just put an order in for one based on your results, and will soon get 2 more to cover our 6 foot tank. I am also highly impressed with your videos and the wealth of information in them, we've had a 4 foot 55 gallon for 16 months and am in the process of upgrading to the 6 foot 125 gallon and want to start being successful in having coral, we can learn so much from your videos so thanks so much for creating them. Subscrbed, keep up the good work.

Cheers for the videos on these led light bud. Have been looking around for awhile to find a decent led fixture without paying a arm and leg for them. You have sold me on these fixtures and brought them today, just have to wait for them now.... cant wait, be a great change to get away from T5. Subscribed to you now, so look forward to your updates. Thanks again, all the way from down under Australia ;)

Hey, great video! I just got the same ones. What levels or % did you start the lights at when your first put them on?
@woody019210 жыл бұрын
I have had these exact lights on my 75 mixed reef for 3 months with no complaints! they put off some serious light! I unintentionally bleached my frogspawn after switching to these. Only complaint I have is the hanging kit provided sucks to install. Trying to get the light level on all axis's was a struggle that took two people because the end of wires that you hang from are just loops. Also the wires are not adjustable so if whatever your mounting the light to is higher then the provided cables or the surface isn't level to the water surface and you will have to figure out something. That was an easy fix though! What I did and I highly recommend doing to save the headache of installation is to buy a 4 Hook Wire Hanging Kit from RapidLED. Well worth the extra $10 per kit! For explanation sake Im going to refer to the width of the fixture as the x-axis and length as the y-axis.The kit gives you 18ft of cable on each side that can easily be adjusted for height, and leveling the y-axis to the tank water surface. The kit also gives you the flexibility to easily level the x-axis of the fixture to the tank water surface. Lastly you only need 2 screws to mount the entire set up, the wire from the light goes into a female threaded adaptor that gets screwed onto a male threaded adaptor. The male threaded adaptor is the part that you screw into your desired location. With these provided adaptors, if you need/want to temporarily take the fixture down you can easily do so without having to remove screws. All you have to do is unscrew the female adaptor connected to the wire from the male adaptor (that stays in place) and you can move everything. When you want to put the light back up all you have to do is screw the female adaptor back onto the male adaptor that is still screwed into its original place.

I got the mars aqua and love them. I am running the white at the lowest and the blue about 40-50%. Don’t turn them up and acclimate them, I once burnt some of my corals. The only down side of the mars aqua was that it doesn’t come with the percentage or numbers on the dials.

Can u link multiple lights to eliminate so many plug ins? For example, if you have 3 lights hanging can u link the first two to the third and have the power cord from the third to the outlet? I'm not even sure it's possible, I just come across it once and can't remember where it was.

Great looking tank! I have the same LED lights and I wanted to know what settings do you use for your lights? I have a phosphate issue as well that I am currently working on. I think I have my light settings too high. I have the "blues" on 75 and the "whites" on 50. I think this may be too extreme because my hammer coral lost its color.
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing8 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan Jiles Yes, you definitely want to start them low and work them up slowly to those numbers. I started at 25% whites and 35% blues and worked my way up to 50% White and 75 % blue over a 7 month period acclimating my corals to the strong light...Just take it slow and you will love the outcome at the end!
@necrobestial9 жыл бұрын

Hi, so is the true colour (to your eye) closer to the colour with the filter on? All pictures ive seen look really pink/purple, but yours looks great through the filter! really glad to see you've had good growth! I have been looking at one of these for a red sea max 130 I just got but want to keep the lights in the hood if possible, do you think this would work? thanks
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Yes, the color spectrum i have is truer to the eye using the filter but the great thing about the lights is that the white spectrum and the blue spectrum are on two different channels so you can actually blend them at whatever intensity you wish to create whatever color spectrum you wish! I have seen great growth, color and coral health using these lights! I was able to put mine in the hood of my current 180 gallon! Check out my newer videos and equipment tour to see how they are sitting in the hood.

@ResponsibleSustainableReefing8 жыл бұрын
+dylan33 One would work if you hang it high enough. Ive seen it done like that before. If it were me, i would put 2 side by side at a lower height at a lower percentage of power. This would save on power, hopefully help the diodes and drivers last longer, plus eliminate shadowing and dark spots around the edges. A much cleaner look in my opinion.
@ElPhoenixRising7 жыл бұрын
Awesome vid! How many would you suggest for a 20 gallon long? 30inx12x12
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing7 жыл бұрын

Sick tank. How do you adjust the light intensity on this system? I noticed the link doesn't say that you can adjust it like the other one Ecotachi offers.
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anthony, Yes they are adjustable. Each channel has a dimmer which can be adjusted from off through 100 percent intensity. You can adjust the different channels to create whichever spectrum you prefer very easily :)

Hey nice video! Thinking of getting one of these. My tank is 32" wide and 22" deep. Would one fitting be enough? Two seems like it might be overkill if this is 50%!? :)
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Furfeatherandclaw i would recommend using 2 so that you dont get any shadowing on the sides...i honestly feel like 24 inches of coverage is all you would get without some shadowing...I think you would be much happier with 2

It has a surfaces area of 81cm×36 and 50cm deep sorry i mean 120rio ...

What schedule are you running these lights? Do you have a build thread?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
I run a longer schedule than most because i set it around my long work schedule so i can enjoy it but to answer your question my light cycle is as follows...Blue (Actinics) lights come on a 5AM, White (Full Spectrum) lights come on at 7AM, white lights turn off at 6:45 PM, and Blue lights turn off at 11PM...Completely dark from 11PM to 5AM. I dont have a step by step build thread but i did make an Equipment tour videa a few months ago where you can see the gear i use and i will be doing an Equipment update video this week so definitely subscribe so you can check it all out! @ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
That works just fine but most important is the intensity level...intensity depends on how high above the water and how deep your tank is...I currently run 16 hours of blues at 70% and 11 hours of whites at 50% with an 8 hour dark cycle and my lights are 13 inches above the water on a 24 inch deep tank

nice tank, thinking of retrofitting my JBJ 28 g and putting one of these in my hood. would one be to powerful for a 28 g and would it be to much with it so close to water line?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Ive actually seen one on a biocube and it was great! The great thing about these is that they are dimmable so you can control the intensity of the lights on both channels from about 10-15% all the way to 100% with just the turn of a knob!
@plumehead9 жыл бұрын
trianad1 there is a 120w and 165w. would the 120w make more sense in your opinion for 28g?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
D Gomez They are all 120W functioning in reality. All the models come with all 3 watt LEDs which with 55 LEDs adds up to 165 Watts but they only operate them at 2.2Watts each so thats 120W total output for longevity of the diodes and power consumption. So they are actually the exact same, just depends on how the seller markets them as 165 or 120...

Absolutely...A 90 is the same footprint as my tank...Like I said, You MUST acclimate your corals to the intensity of LEDs...doesn't matter what other light you had...if it wasn't LEDs already then you must acclimate your corals for success...take your time and your tank will look amazing...The filter is a gel filter...just a small orange gel filter inexpensive..I bought 8 for $5

have you had any problem with algae I have those exact same lights and I have been having a bunch of algae growth in my tank
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing8 жыл бұрын
+Shawn Jenkins No sir, I have not, and theres a few different reason why. Algae is not really a light issue as it is a nutrient issue. Algae can not grow if it doesnt have the phosphates, nitrates, and other nutrients which feed it and cause it to show up. When most people have algae break outs their water tests great because the algae is consuming all these nutrients and therefore they arent in the water. This is the basis for an algae scrubber where the algae is used to consume these nutrients as it flows over the scrubber. I run an Ultra Low Nutrient system. It is set up over a long period of time to acclimate corals to the low nutrients and also mainly used in hard coral tanks. This system strips the system of all those nutrients which wont allow algae to be produced or grow. Having strong lighting is not a cause for the algae issue but rather it feeds the algae once it has already been established and converted to photosynthesizing the light. Get rid of step one ( the nutrients) and it cant get to step 2 (light). I actually never really even clean my glass because no phosphates to produce the algae haze on the glass...I will be making a new video soon where i go in depth and cover this information.

would one of the led units be enough for a aqua one 195 tank ?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing7 жыл бұрын
it should be depending on what lenses it has. but yes one unit should work for that tank

this led light is sufficient for 10 g of aquarium with corals? Tnx
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
it would be more than enough...in fact i think it would almost be too much! There are some great smaller alternatives from builders like Reefbreeders...check out their nano reef light!

trianad1 Those lights are much costlier than this one. Can't we position it higher and use it at minimum light output?. Thanks for the videos! and keepem coming
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Aravindhan Thirukonda Sure, you can do pretty much whatever you wish to do. just giving alternatives so you can see other options and make the best choice for what you want. I'd rather you make the best choice with no regrets :)

I have this same led light on my 24g and to be honest with you I have had my coralline nearly gone and a monti die on me. Sony local LFS said it might be due to the intensity of he light but I keep my whites at about 30-40% and blues at about the same and at night leave blues on at 35%. I'm not sure what's going on but have a feeling the lights aren't helping my tank out am I missing something here?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Lights are just one part of a large equation that equals long term success...Coral line growth is mostly based on alk and calcium levels in the water, not so much on light so you may want to focus on your levels and tests to see where everything is sitting and dose accordingly. How deep is your tank and how high above the water are your lights?

I have a 46 gallong bow front tank. I need 1 or 2 units?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Alhdin Ramos it depends on how you plan on mounting them as far as height above the water, etc...but i would recommend one unit for ever 2 feet of length, if your tank fits within that then one should be enough
@yoel349 жыл бұрын
I am confused because it is 3 feet long. I do not know if it will cover all areas in my tank. What do you think?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Your bowfront is 3 feet long? hmm, you may be alright, if anything, you may get some slight shadowing on the edges, unfortunately cant know until you hang one up and see.
@TheRobber269 жыл бұрын
Alhdin Ramos go with 2, I've made the mistake of only buying one and it leaves too much of a shadow on the sides

There you go Alhdin Ramos, Robert Janes has done it and has some good advice! Cant wait to see your tank with your new lights!

If you just google or ebay search Aquarium Chinese LEDs then you will see all the different variations available. I purchased mine from a ebay seller Ecotachi and had a great experience and fast shipping.

@michaelmyers50275 жыл бұрын
@@ResponsibleSustainableReefing thank you for the response. 1 would be good enough for a 32 gallon biocube correct? I se people cut holes in the lids and place them on top. And turn the brightness down. But I dont know if it's too close.
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing5 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmyers5027 one would be enough. For the best light spread i would hang it above 8 to 12 inches if possible
@michaelmyers50275 жыл бұрын
@@ResponsibleSustainableReefing just ordered. My biocube LEDs are not strong enough. They look all white when on. I even have ot programmed for all lights on at full intensity during day so blues are on too and it still looks white. No blue tint at all.

Did you get any type of warranty on the lights
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
They came with a 1 year US warranty...Im sorry about the incorrect link...if you go to that link and go to the sellers store for ecotachi you can look at the different packages and look for the ones shipping out of california with the US warranty. sorry for the mix up.

how much does it cost a month to run?
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
Are you asking about the lights or the whole system?
@owensdelsols29 жыл бұрын
The lights, i just purchased 3 and i was just wondering what the cost was.
@ResponsibleSustainableReefing9 жыл бұрын
The lights are set to run at a total of 120 Watts to conserve energy. I know that the power bill went down a bit when i went to these over my old T5s/Metal Halides but i cant give you an exact number. i can check the apex and see how many amps they are pulling and then you can calculate the amps with how much your local power company charges.
