LOL that was good! Ours is 42'7" but like you there are the good and bad and the ugly! We're looking to downsize this year. We'll keep the Grand Design in mind when looking. Thanks for sharing. Our awnings are like yours. The only thing I don't like about the door awing over the door, it don't keep the rain out. Keep the videos coming we love them and will watch to the end. And we won't judge you. Loved it!

Lol. Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed it! That is a really big camper. We looked at bigger Grand Designs like the Solitude, but don’t have the truck for it...yet!😉 we haven’t had a problem with the rain coming in the door bc we can easily pull one side down and tilt the runoff away from the entrance. And thanks for not judging 🤣. Thanks for watching. We appreciate the support!

This is the first camper I have seen with a separate room for the kids and their own bathroom!!! Lots of storage and a separate bed for the dogs. Very nice camper! Thank you for the walk-through. 👍 Edit: Regarding the container for the hoses that has condensation what I do is heat up a Philip's screwdriver on the stove to melt some holes on the lid so what's inside doesn't get funky. Just a thought.

Enjoying the channel. New subscriber. Nice walkthrough. Looking to maybe pulling the trigger this summer. I like Grand Design. Wish they did offer some better options, like MORrye Pin Box, Steps, etc. See they are starting some solar options on the Solitudes but not sure why not on the Reflection. Oh yea, to buy the Solitude. LOL... The one I like the best for our needs is the 337RLS. Any bigger and my cargo weight will go. I have a F350 SWR. Even the 337 when loaded will put me right at numbers. Over if I’m not careful. Just didn’t want to deal with dully. I still have to use it for work and I still have to deal with city driving, parking. Retiring in 5 yrs. Want to definitely do boondocking so looking to be upgrading batteries, inverter/charger, couple solar panels. So what hitch are you using? You getting good clearance from bed. I’m a little concerned with this 2019 350 about that. These darn trucks have gotten too high. I’m thinking about getting the Companion hitch , which can get some height, and maybe just putting on the MORyde rubber pin box for travel piece of mind. Can’t wait to start fixing things...I mean camping 🏕.
@1StrangeAdventure
@1StrangeAdventure 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks and welcome to the channel! Grand Designs are amazing (IMO) but I think any camper/RV has its room for improvements. The Solitudes are beautiful but they are much heavier than the Reflection. Definitely have to keep an eye on the payload. Congrats on retiring in 5 years, I have a lonnnnnng way to go. 😕 We use a Curt manual sliding hitch since we have a short bed. Plenty of clearance on the bed and yes, they are tall trucks but the hitch and pin box is adjustable so a dealer can make sure you are right. Good luck with your camping journey and if you ever have any other questions, just let me know. Thanks!

Very nice setup and the walk through was great! We just looked at a 2021, looking to move up from a SandPiper Bunkhouse for a bit more room. It was pretty busy at the dealer yesterday and with the covid restrictions it was difficult to take a good look. A few things I did notice. 1. The master bedroom tv placement is ridiculous, I get that you will have some type of mount that will help, but still seems easy fixable. Our Sandpiper did a good job here. Use a pocket door for the master bathroom door instead of the barn door and the tv can be mounted on that wall. 2. The other thing that the salesman couldn't exactly tell me how this worked, and is different from yours is on the 2021, the dump handles are the same as yours 1 grey, 2 blacks (makes sense), but the one I looked at had another black handle at the sewer connection in the back near the bunk room slide, that is confusing. I wonder if one of the black handles is actually for the galley, but I'm not sure. The other thing he said when I asked was where does the outside sink drain to, and he said the 2nd bathroom black tank. That would seem a bit strange also. All in all though this is a great bunkhouse camper and I can't wait to find out more about it. Thanks for the video!
@1StrangeAdventure
@1StrangeAdventure 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! We love our 311 and have helped others through the purchasing process. For the TV mount, I agree! A pocket door would have been nice there. We didn't really think about it because we didn't really have intentions of mounting a TV in the bedroom. Our 2020 also has the lone black handle at the back by the bunkhouse slide. This is for the rear black tank. The rear black tank is kind of a catch all in the back (all rear water fixtures). The outside kitchen along with the sink and toilet of the half bath flow to that tank. The positive to this is that you will have more grey water in there to help keep things a little cleaner. The handles up front are 1 grey, 1 black handle for galley and 1 black handle to the black tank. If you have any other questions, please let us know. We are happy to help out!

Scott Oliver Hi Scott! Thanks for watching! Happy to answer your questions. The dry weight is right around 12k. Pin weight is just over 2k. I haven’t weighed it loaded so I’m not sure what that weight is. I have a 2018 ram 2500 diesel and it does just fine. I would get a 3500 if I could do it over just for the extra payload. We bought our RV from General RV. If you have any other questions, let me know. Thanks!

Great walkthru. I just purchased and 2020 Grand Design Reflection 303RLS. Very similar to yours with out the bunks. I will be making the modification to the underneath storage area like you did. Don't understand why Grand Design didn't do that to start with. When you winterize the camper is there a valve on the hot water heater the needs to be turned to bypass the hot water heater?
@1StrangeAdventure
@1StrangeAdventure 3 жыл бұрын
Randy Montgomery Hi Randy! Congrats on your purchase! I agree on the storage area. A lot of space is wasted and a simple mod helps with that! For winterizing your RV, the water system will bypass the hot water heater when the valves are in the “winterize” position. We will be doing a video on this very soon. 🙂 Thanks for watching and if you have any other questions, let us know.

Great walk through. Thank you! We are considering the GD 311BHS as well. How loud are the air conditioners? The Dometic AC we have is our rig is so loud we can barely talk to each other. Ideally the whisper quiet type would be best but I don't think GD offers those.

Hello and welcome to the community! We don't have the whisper quiet AC's, but they aren't loud at all. We can talk normal even with them on high. We had one added to the master bedroom. @@1StrangeAdventure Just one other question. GD talks a lot about their insulation. Would you consider it as being good, better than most or about the same? I'm interested in your opinion for both temperature and sound quality. Some of these lighter RV's have paper thin walls and you can hear people talking outside and they can hear you. That's a big deal if in a cramped RV park and you're discussing something important!
@1StrangeAdventure
@1StrangeAdventure 4 жыл бұрын
Rob Holcomb great question! I will make the comparison to the Palomino TT I owned previously. Night and day difference! The GD cools down and heats up faster. It also maintains temperature a lot better! I don’t have the double pane windows and still a huge difference. I also noticed when other campers have condensation in the windows, mine doesn’t. It happens, just not nearly as often. We added a second AC and have barely turned it on. As for sound, it’s much quieter. My dogs can tell too! Lol. I can’t hear conversations outside and you can’t hear ours from the outside. I’ve read that the double pane glass cuts noise even more. Overall, I am very happy with our Camper. If you have any other questions, just let me know!

Yes. We stayed at a campground called Endless Caverns that is basically on the side of a mountain and of course, we stayed in the part where you have to go up the hill over and then back down the hill meaning leaving was a climb. The truck did fine, however, I will say it was dry. It's going to vary based on conditions and the type of tires you have. We have since upgraded to a dually.

We have little or no water pressure in bathroom sink in our Solitude, slide doesn’t retract correctly, raw sewage leak, loss of trailer brakes, can go on and on. I think our’s was made on a Friday afternoon before a long holiday weekend. What options are available and would you recommend?

Hello! Sorry for the delay in responding. We have been in the process of selling our house and going full time in our Grand Design! Yes, we would highly recommend. For options, I would visit www.granddesignrv.com. They have it laid out pretty nicely and the options are always changing!

does the fridge stay on while you travel down the road??

On the reflection, it had the option of running off of propane while on the move. Our new RV has a residential fridge so it stays on all the time.

What do you use for a tow vehicle?

We had a 2018 Ram 2500 at first and then upgraded to the 2020 Ram 3500 when we decided to go full time. The 2500 did great pulling but we wanted a little more for full time 😊

Interesting that they fitted it with base grade kingpin and no mor-ryde steps..

New Vision Security Services Yea, that would have been nice! It’s ok though. I’m most likely going to switch over to a Airborne Sidewinder so I don’t have to worry about a sliding hitch for my short bed anymore. Thanks for watching!

@@1StrangeAdventure the sidewinder are nice! I just came across this bunkhouse while shopping 5th wheels at Haylett. It's got a full size queen bed and a loft in the rear!! We're empty nesters, but it is a sweet setup! kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3Srm3iBdsimj7s

Thanks for your videos. We are buying the same camper next month and this is very helpful. I have a short bed (6.6’) Sierra and was looking at getting the Anderson ultimate hitch. I’m concerned about turning clearance. Do you find the slider is necessary? Thanks again

Doug Bender hi Doug! Welcome to the channel. We love our 311! I don’t have to use the slider as much as you would think but I have had to use it. The cab will definitely get hit if you’re not watching. I think it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions.

1StrangeAdventure very true. My issue is for now we only have a 3/4 ton and I’m trying to keep weight down to stay within payload. We will be upgrading to a single rear one ton in the future.

Where is the city water connect?
@1StrangeAdventure
@1StrangeAdventure 4 жыл бұрын
M Frain Hello and thanks for the comment! The city water inlet is in the bay on the non-camp side of the RV. Grand Design has a great system that makes it very easy to use. We also have a video that gives the dealer walk-thru, and a video on water sanitization. Either of those will show you the water connection. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Chris Lutyen Thank you! If feasible, I recommend finding the RV you want then get the truck you need to tow it. I appreciate the feedback. We love it! Welcome to the community!
