The mysterious vegetable is called :Cho Cho" if you're from the greater Antilles islands. Or "Christophene" if you are from the lesser Antilles and "Choyote" in the spanish speaking islands, Its part of the cucumber family. Has very little taste. You add it to soups and stews in the last stages of cooking. Cooks in 5 mins. Slice and remove the skin and seeds. It takes the flavour of whatever you cook with it. Its VERY good for you. Those were a very good size, we Love the videos.

That vegetable is called pimpinela we are originally from island of Madeira, Portugal those are perfect to plant to eat it was a bit past a bit tough from what I saw if you have it in your garden it’s a vine it grows well on a trellis if picked young its a delicious squash texture vegetables that you don’t even need to peel and the seed inside is my favourite part to eat no need to remove it also has many health benefits , its called in English chayote squash look it up , to plant it get a older one (big tough skin) and leave it inside until the fatter part opens and sends out a shoot then plant it 3/4 leaving the shoot out in nice compost and guide it as it grows onto the trellis

The green vegetable you cooked is called choke in Australia, alligator pear inUSA. We steam, roast them adding pepper and a little butter. During the depression in the 1930's they were cut small and cooked with sugar then made into fake apple pies. People would grow the vine on chicken fences and fences. They're best eaten when smaller as they are tender. My mother used to roast them with the Sunday roast. I put them into soup and curries.

Hi, another Australian here. Those chokes are very old, far too mature, allow them to sprout and plant them. Harvest when they are about the size of a pear, no need to peel, just cut in half and steam or boil, add salt and pepper and loads of butter. Can also be used to make pickles when older. Try them every way you can think of. They are a firm favourite of my family.

Chokos are great! Slice thin & steam. Younger chokos are tender. They take on other flavours so great in stews casseroles etc. If you leave a large one in the kitchen/ greenhouse it will strike and can be planted in spring. We grow ours over the chicken house. Can even be added to apples in a pie😊. Cheers from Lynn Queensland . 🇦🇺

Also known as Choo-choo in the Alentejo, just wash and boil until soft. Cut open and scoop out the watery flesh, add to stew or add salt and butter as a side.

In Brazil that green vegetable is called XuXu. It is delicious cut in half lengthwise and stuffed with a flavorful meat filling, then baked. I also cut it up for soups. The peel is very thin and edible so there is no need to cut it off.

Chayote is a very versatile vegetable. It absorbs and takes on the taste of anything it is cooked with so is perfect in stews and both sweet and savory pies as a filler. Soaked it in lemon juice and fooked with cloves and other spices gives you a perfect 'apple' pie filler.

The choko veritable needs a lot of added flavour (Salt & pepper)..savoury. You can stew with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg to make a dessert 🍨 tasting a little like apple or pears 🍐 If they're young choko, no need to peel. Cook with skin on. I like them. 😊

Great progress. Excuse me for asking but I thought the roof ridge should vent air out under the caps shown being installed in this video. Last week spray foam blocked the venting. Some ridge installations use a flexible flashing with vent material in the center. Also ridge caps can be held in place with cement. Appreciate your hard work and lovely animals!
