My late husband of 62 years married would have so enjoyed watching these with me. I love the quiet, stillness. No music, though we both loved classical music and the beauty as we both loved art. He also would enjoyed your skills. He did love fixing bits and pieces when not at busines. We both loved photography. Thank you and forgive my nostalgia. After 7 years it still hits me from time to time.

I do wonder how he organizes his woodpile. It takes about 2 years for hardwood to cure before it can be burned. We have three woodpiles that I re-stack every fall in advance of winter. It's odd to me that he just has that big pile of unstacked wood exposed to the elements and getting wet. We don't heat with wood - we use it in our firepit - but plenty of my neighbors heat their homes 100% with wood. There is a science to wood pile management. None of my neighbors have a big pile of unstacked, unprotected wood.

Your dinner with Johannes was kind, friendly gentle. Two men with a spiritual essence sharing food, wine and helpful conversation. There are many homes where I live that have cedar shake roofs. To be technically correct, shingles are sawn on both sides, the split ones are called shakes and are sawn on one side, split on the other. Shakes are longer and generally thicker than shingles, so last longer but are more expensive as they contain more wood.
