I was in SLC last month and my boyfriend and I rented a dual motor "non performance" model 3 and OMG it was by far the best car I have ever driven! I know everybody goes on about how amazing the autopilot is, but what people fail to realize is actually how great of a car it is to drive.

In phone menu you can link driver profile to a phone. In that way the car knows when you enter with your phone it should load your driver profile

About the speakers, they left them in to streamline production as they had a rough time ramping up model 3 production around 2018 and early 2019. To be honest , they could very well allow an option to upgrade via software update in the future. Tesla is known to be very good about listening to and implimenting feedback from owners.

@@mattbaiamonte At 100% I still get 386km which is about 240m. Does not get cold in Brisbane so no range loss in winter but you do notice heavier consumption when it's wet. So took a while to get used to that. Always have A/C on down here too. Don't know if you vboxed yours but a car magazine here called Wheels (like the Australian version of Autotrend) measured acceleration of the sr+ they tested at 5.3 sec to 100km per hour, which is about the same as 5.1 sec 0-60mph. Other nice thing recently was the update that allows charging at 170kw. Thanks for your channel. Good to see stuff about the SR+ which is why I subscribed after your first video. Cheers, Gavin.

With the heater, it takes long to heat up because with a traditional combustion engine the engine produces a ton of heat and the car recycles that heat to heat the cabin. However with EVs there is hardly any heat produced by the electric motor. Instead the car has to either use dedicated resistive heating or manually adjust the electric motor to operate less efficiently, thus producing more heat as a waste product, which is then used to heat things like the battery or the cabin.

I’ve been a long time Tesla fan and model X owner for over five years now, nice video the only thing I would recommend is try to get a charger at home (the wall mount is your best option) because charging continuously at super charge stations will Degrade your battery a lot faster than charging at home I found that out the hard way and I’ve lost about 40 miles in range since 2016 and obviously don’t top it off to the top each time, but the supercharger is definitely not the best thing for daily use, only long trips. Plus there’s nothing like leaving your house every morning knowing that you are fully charged not having to make a stop anywhere!

Thanks for the in-depth review and being honest about the nitpicks you have about the vehicle. I don't know if you've come across the answer already, but the Model 3 is slow to heat the cabin because it uses electrical resistance, very inefficient heating method. There is no combustion engine to draw waste heat from to warm the air intake like a gas car. Funny enough, it took Tesla until the Model Y to include a heat pump, which works more efficiently to pull heat from outside the car to the inside. Other competitors like the Hyundai Kona EV have included a heat pump (standard for Canada but option for US I think). It's too bad they didn't do it for the 3 but I know it was for cost cutting.

Yeah, there are some things that annoy me a tiny bit like that (or simple quality control stuff like panel gaps) but wouldn't stop me from owning one. Would love a Kona EV though....but too bad Hyundai is only sticking to ZEV states, so I'm SoL here in the south.
@kandaraugh
@kandaraugh 4 жыл бұрын
@@JH-dh2ws yeah I totally get it. It's sad how small the availability is for the Kona. If Tesla wasn't a decade ahead in infotainment systems, I'd strongly consider it but alas it is not sold on my state either. Also very compelling as the full federal credit still applies.

Great Review, thanks for the info! I have ordered the same model. BUT one thing missing from your review was winter driving. (Maybe you have done a winter Driving review?) I live in Canada with snowy conditions and my main concern with a rear wheel drive is winter traction and control. How did your car handle winter driving? Do you take it to your local ski hills during the winter? Any issues? What kind of snow tires do you use? Thanks!

1 Thing I am curious to know. You mentioned you live in Utah, as do I. How does the RWD do in the snow? Do you feel like its pretty grounded? My biggest thing is, do I save for the AWD version being from Utah and just having such a mix of weather, the AWD seems like the obvious. But if the RWD is just as nice and you haven't seen any issues, id rather just do that and save 10 grand.
@mattbaiamonte

hello i live in indiana, no issues driving a rwd car, my concern is the range, i travel 150 to 160 per day, a mix of city driving, country raod, highway/freeway driving. will a model 3 standard range enough for me? thank you
@mattbaiamonte
@mattbaiamonte 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would work! If you charged to 90% every night you’d have about 207 miles of range in the morning. That buffer would be enough to get you around. You’d get home with less than 15 miles however.

The tint looks good - what percentages are those? And did you tint the entire ear window and the roof or just the rear window? Curious because they look nice from the outside but not so dark from the inside which is great. Thanks.
