6 Months With The Rolex DateJust 41 | Worth It?

It's been six months since I bought my first Rolex DateJust. My choice was the DateJust 41 126300 with the plain bezel, black dial and oyster bracelet. Now it's time for the follow up review. What are the three very best and the three worst things about this timepiece?

All of these issues are resolved in the black dial 39mm OP with brushed finish. I had the Wimbledon dial version of this watch and the swirls and smudges did piss me off. I also found that it lacked character somehow and it was a little plain. So I got rid. Happier with my Rolex Submariner which has lots of character and has barely a single mark after 7 years constant use. Maybe the jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel won’t show the imperfections as easily as mirror polished steel. But go take a look at the back of a spoon. Patina.

I have the same exact DJ41, and have owned it for 6 months. It is the sportiest and most versatile Datejust and can be dressed up or down. Perfect GADA watch - works with everything from a suit to a bathing suit. Mine has kept perfect accuracy since I got it from the AD. The scratches are very easy to polish out yourself with a cape cod cloth. Best watch I've ever owned and I've been into watches for over 50 years..

I love my datejust 41. Mine is black like yours with the Roman numerals. Absolutely perfect for everything you can wear. These watches increase in value too. My local dealer offered me $100 more than what I paid for it! Will never sell

Brushing is in. I'd love an option to get full brushed. Jubilee bracelet pulls straight down to be a better wear. I've been wearing my DJ 41 Mother of Pearl / diamonds every day.

I actually like the cyclops lens especially it is useful for men with bad eyesight of clothes lol it's a practical watch. It's beautiful in the blue color I think that's the best color on that watch along with the green. Also, I cannot forget the two-tone diamond marker mother of pearl watch that's beautiful as well. Nice for dress and sport. I prefer the Jubilee bracelet because it does not scratch as much.

I have op with brushed oyster. My date just has jubilee so I don’t worry about scratches. My gmt is solid gold so it is soft enough to polish it myself.

I think you meant to say “-2/+2” for Superlative Chrometer, not +1/+2. Nice review, I wished the datejust would add a flip lock, to the clasp.

I've had mine which is the 116334, fluted white gold bezel and a blue dial for 6 years now, its been my daily watch, its well used and still very accurate and definitely holds very well. I even took it to the sea (snorkelling) and swimming pools. Scuffs and scratches are inevitable, unless one takes a good close look at it at it, the scratches are barely noticeable at one glance, instead it looks sharp and screams "class" whenever i wear it to luncheons and dinners thanks to its fluted bezel and polished center links. Im going to get a Yachtmaster next, i'll keep the Datejust for the long term and i'm sure its value will continue to appreciate.

I have the same identical watch with a white dial and the parts I don’t like is the polished dazzle or center links they scratch entirely to easy and they look horrible when they do get scratched other than that I love the watch

I got a DJ41 in December. Yes, VERY versatile. I always get aftermarket straps for my Rolex watches in order to preserve the bracelets. Which is a shame because Rolex bracelets are one of the best parts of a Rolex :) On the up side: This watch is an absolute Strap Monster!!! Dress it up. Dress it down. It looks GREAT. Lastly: It is pretty big for a 41. I have a 7 1/4" wrist & I think it is kind of large. Great value at retail. :)

The smudges on the lenses is really bothersome on Rolex’s the only modern Rolex watch where you don’t get this in my experience is the white dial Explorer 2, no visible smudges at all. Fully brushed bracelet so no problem there either. As such it’s my most worn watch.

Can't go wrong with a Datejust. I bought a Oyster Perpetual 39mm with blue dial a few months ago. It also is very versatile you can wear it pretty much everywhere. It fits in any situation.

Mine came with the oyster bracelet then I order the jubilee, less scratches on the jubilee.. its an option that rolex offers on this watch..

Surprised to hear you think it wears big as it has famously been measured to be actually slightly under 40mm...don't know why they call it a 41..it's not really close to being that large....i do think a Datejust 39 would be the sweet spot, though.

Got the call from an AD for a DJ 41 six months after I put my name in a waiting list, I was even called 2 times, the first call was for a watch with a dial I dont like so I refused, one month later, the second call came and it was for the correct watch 😊

With the integrated jubilee bracelet there is no overhang on the lugs but it’s a matter of choice.

My second choice was the plain bezel and jubilee bracelet. Regarding smudges and scratches I think the polished center links on the bracelet are the worst.

I have the same watch and I'm considering changing the smooth bezel for the fluted.. that's if I can get it at a decent price ..but would not swap out the oyster for the jubile ..don't care how many swirls or scratches it gets ! The oyster just wears younger and sportier than the jubilee

Do you know why your Datejust 41 have the "30" instead of the Rolex crown at the 6 index marker?

Why you can see the 30' under the 6 hours marks, because on the 126300, there is only the crown between Swiss and made, no 30 ? is it real ?

This watch NEVER traded at 25% over retail. This black/smooth/oyster is the least desirable config and trades well below retail now.

You do realize you are commenting on a more than two year old video? Prices has changed a lot the last 24 months. In fact prices topped in 2022 and has decreased with 20-25 percent. Look up the 126300 on Chrono24.

In my humble opinion I like the original DJ ll, it’s truly a 41mm at 40.6 very masculine! I wear it almost every day!!! All about the white gold Bezel, it goes crazy the light hits!!! Unlike this one, smaller at 39.4

Hi Chris. Its not a quality particular to Rolex but to this particular version of the Rolex DateJust. I wanted a DJ and I wanted this because I find it to be the most versatile DJ.

It's comical on me. 41 is even too small for me. I prefer the Rolex sky dweller or 43 mm sea dweller is my favorite, but I do own two day date 41 mm.

The price of this watch has plummeted…it’s going for under retail for sure. It’s one of the most undesirable configurations out. Stay away from black or white dials and smooth bezels with oyster if your trying to make money.
