Flares are super cool my guy. I hope that FFG changes their mind and makes this expansion. Btw I noticed on the Hydra Flare, for the wild it says “main player only” in other text it says as an ally.

Lovely flares! Hey Jack, what is the/is there a difference between the 42nd anniversary and the 4th edition of the game? Over here in Europe, getting a hold of any copy is currently tricky. Cheers!

The ships in 42 are translucent. It also includes some combo cards for up to 5 players, and the promo Demon alien. Other than that, nothing else it really different. I think they modified the wording slightly on Sorcerer (with new art, though very similar). Fundamentally, it's the same. I prefer the opaque ships myself.

Question Jack, why should I buy Cosmic Encounter when I own and love Dune? My understanding is they are the very similar.

They are only similar in a vaguely conceptual way. The social dynamic is about the only real similarity, followed by the notion of individual player power. Cosmic is much faster paced, and has wildly changing social interaction.

@@jackredathewarp I haven't played Dune yet nor have I even read the rules yet. But I think another similarity I have noticed is they both have a simultaneous-reveal style of combat. Probably not an important similarity in the grand scheme of things though.
