Worth an experiment

Five years ago I was asked by my son in law, who was planning to make a batch of tomato sauce, to stop at the grocery store and buy some garlic. The sign said "locally grown hard neck garlic". I bought way more than was needed for the tomato sauce. So, I decided to try planting it for the first time. But first I did my research about growing, curing and storing, garlic. The first year's experiment was a 100% success and so I have been planting the biggest cloves each year. The amount that I grow is enough to last me the whole year.

The only thing that I will be planting in the middle of October, here in Canada, is my hard neck garlic. Nothing else would survive in the ground over our cold winter.
