My dad does a low carb diet every summer to get ripped and he still does this in his 70's. He actually eats a lot while dieting but he makes sure his diet is meat based. His first experimentation with dieting down was around 1970. He did the conventonal diet where you just eat less. He lost 30 lbs. but was disppointed by how he looked. Then he read an article by John McCallum where it said that dieting that way is a just a slow starvation and he switched to low carb diets for cutting ever since then and he gets amazing results.

Thanks for sharing. Your dad is a smart man. Chiropractors are usually fascinated with the body and understand what real health is.

I have been diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago. I have cut up all sugar and almost all bread. My family tells me how can you eat without bread? I tell them each time I eat bread I feel I can't get enough oxygen to move my body. Each time I used to eat a lot of pasta or rice or potatoes I was feeling sick because my glycose levels were raised too high. So, thanks Dr. Ekberg.

One of the things that worried me about the keto diet was that I anticipated having less food variety because so much of the food in the average food store was carbs, nearly 80%. But that was not the case and I was pleasantly surprised to find I only lost about 20% of variety available in the food repertoire because I had been ignorant of so many healthy Keto ingredients that I could rather use. So all those wonderful breads, pies, potato recipes and rice recipes were replaced with wonderful soups, antipasti, egg dishes, salads, steaks, jerky, hamburgers (served on salad rather than buns), fish, cheeses etc. It’s like seeing the world in a whole new way. Keto restaurant, here we come.

Good info there Dr. Sten. So much info is misunderstood. People need to do their research and if they can’t maybe they can listen to Dr. Sten😉.

Thank you. Sometimes the research is sometimes the issue like I mention at 5:32 in this video and my last video.

@joecephus41513 жыл бұрын
Dr Ekberg I know you know the difference, but it's important to note veggies are carbs, as well as candy bars, ice cream, etc.. The carbs in processed foods are the worst, and are the (simple) carbs you are focusing on here. They are not to be confused with the beta linked carbs you educated us on in other vids, i.e., "7 Facts About Simple vs Complex Carbs". Just thought it worth clarifying, since I do not see a distinction being made here. As always, thanks sooo much for all you do to empower us by sharing your immense knowledge.

Such an inspiration. Im not fat, just a little overweight and have struggled to maintain weigh (and lose some kg). I found a recipe for a bred and when i calculated it with Myfitnesspal-app It gave me 5,4 grams of Carbs and 5,4 grams of Fibre. It is my understanding that the body can't use any of the carbs as energy, Is this right? And then I tested a recipe for a pizza. When all things added there is 5,2 grams of carbs and 8 grams of fibre. Is there something wrong here?

What diet would you recommend for endurance athletes who compete in olympic distance triathlon and half-marathon distance races?
@drekberg6 жыл бұрын
I was in the Olympics, but did not compete long distance. I think a long distance runner needs to be fat adapted and consequently needs to be on a low carb diet.

Doctor, i guess it is dopamine instead serotonin! Dopamine is related to the sensation like in drugs! What I mean is when people eat carbs is dopamine that is released, not serotonin.

Doc the problem is people are already in a strong denial mode talk about the fat people not getting help and humiliated but people like you and some followers of keto like us cannot even talk to close family members and especially during any party they give a look at us 😮 and actually I would feel pity for them rather 🤣

I am angry. Angry for the lives lost in my family, let alone the years of productivity I lost the last 20+ years because of following doctor and dietician guidelines! Talking to my mom a while ago, she said she started using 2% milk when I started getting chunky as a child! This is called a crime. What does your doctor or PA tell you? They say such things because they don't make that extra money for themselves and their institutions if you just eat healthy and are disease free! The studies began and proved as science over 50 years ago. Ask your medical professionals to show you studies that prove their reccomendations! Remember, your medical team only suggests your direction. Ultimately it is YOU that decides what you put into that face you have to eat with!
