You need to specify more frequently that the abuse of sugar is unhealthy, from refined sugar. Becouse there is some guy out of here that has some low sugar problem in his brain... they think that all sugar is bad, so the fruit too . Just watching your video.. they come up with those ideas. lol

Yes I'm an addict, but not to sugar on its own. I dont think anyone would crave a big bowl of sugar. The addiction is to a carb/fat combination. Then once in the system the sugar does its harm. Either that or put it in liquid form like smoothies or fizzy drinks

I used to be addicted to sugar. The joke at work was that whenever someone retired, I always got a corner piece of the cake with diabetic coma frosting, including the colored frosting flower, and the leftover ring of frosting around the outside of where the cake was. Now I watch videos like this over and over in order to ensure that I don't have a relapse. Triglycerides have started to go down a little, LDL remains higher than I'd like it, but HDL is higher than it has ever been (even including those unfortunate 10 years I was taking satans to lower cholesterol - a whole 'nother story as they say), and hba1c has dropped from 5.9 to 5.1. Caries - cavities in the teeth START from the inside not outside... see #2 mineral depletion. The body takes some minerals from the bones to cope with excess sugar in the blood, I think all the bones not just teeth. Maybe osteoporosis is bcz of excessive sugar & grain, not just inadequate intake of calcium.
@iamlight15 жыл бұрын
True. I had a huge health scare and I had to finally change my habits. If you purchase anything packaged, look at the labels. Almost everything that comes in a box or packaged, has sugar and often as a second ingredient. People think that sugar is just scrose (table sugar) but sugars are also: fructose, lactose, and others. And fructose is even more harmful than dextrose (not so abundant). Sugar is also: maple syrup, honey, fruit sweeteners. Sugar is being linked to inflammation, cardiovascular disease, dementia, hypertension and almost all things.

I believe moderation is key. I have cut out all added sugar, sweets and junk foods, but enjoy berries, dark (85% cocoa) chocolate, occasional fruit. I don´t strive to put my body into ketosis, as I am not personally convinced that is good (many conflicting opionions from health experts), but I do try to keep my carbs on the lower side. Feeling great so far.
@barchetta575m2 жыл бұрын
In one video, Dr. Ekberg explains how there are levels of ketosis. It's not an on or off switch. What level of ketosis you are at, depends on the number of net carbs you are consuming and when you are consuming them. Some individuals benefit from a high level of ketosis, such as those with severe diabetes. Others who have always had a relatively healthy life (those who have never smoked, drank sodas/energy drinks, rarely consume fast food), do not need to cut carbs as much. However, Dr. Ekberg does remind us in that same video, that for thousands of years our ancestors would primarily consume a diet of high fat and moderate protein. It's not until the past 1,000 years, and especially the past 100 years, that technology has allowed humans to create carb-rich foods.

The food rationing during WW2, including sugar rationing, really improved the health of most people in the UK and North America. Now, we all have to do our own form of self-imposed rationing if we want to stay healthy. Just stay away from the middle of the supermarket, where all the processed food is located.

I now eat veggies and fruits with protein like eggs, chicken and salmon. So far I'm doing very well at age 57 and still feel like a kid no aches, no pains that saying goes you are what eat still holds true. I'm very aware of sugar in my diet. For sugar I recommend an apple or 2 dates never any candy, cakes, or cookies.

I had a very bad sugar addiction. I started to mix one tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar with water and drink it. My addiction is almost over. I still now and then crave for chocolate. But not at a level that it use to be. Thank you Dr. Sten Ekberg for these great videos!

11:56 It's so disgusting, infurating and sad. I was one of those cases. Growing up in an extremely ignorant family my diet has been disastrous all the way up to my mid teens when I started informing myself a little bit. I could easily drink 2-4 glasses of Coca Cola everyday when I was an early teenager. And I used to eat all kinds of garbage fast food and processed stuff a lot. I'm currently 20 and have quitted sugar entirely and also started fasting for all its incredible benefits. But I'm still a long way to feel truly good since I've suffered from all sorts of pains and lack of energy my whole life. I truly don't know how I didn't become obese, I was always skinny fat somehow. I wouldn't be surprised if that aberration of a diet that I had pretty much almost all my life caused some permanent damage in my body. Anyway, thank you so much for everything you do Dr. You are literally saving lives with all this vast amount of precious information.

Absolutely top-class ! Radically eye-opening. Today I walked through a grocery store with this mindset...If you'd clean up all the sugar and carbs what would be left ? Not much...I love following your presentations and as your english is so good I´ve started to use your speeches as english lessons as well !

My father smoked a pack or more a day from 14 to 67, ate grapenut flakes with 2 table spoons of sugar for breakfast every morning, made pies and cakes all the time.....sugar, sugar, sugar.....he lived 79 years....died of prostate cancer......guess he might of made 100 if he would have cut out the sugar.

The best way of controlling sugar consumption is through instituting a paradigm shift, a cultural change. Closing down all sugar companies and teaching kids to eat sugarless food from early stages can do a lot in saving lives

Hi dr Ekberg I almost never eat sugar, because I don't like sweet food, and I know sugar is poisson for the body It's also bad for skin But I do eat other carbohydrates such as bread rice and wheat. I am a bit underweight, so I eat these things. My question, is eating these carbohydrates the same for the body as eating sugar?
@drekberg5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sabrina D. If you are underweight, the carbs per se are not a huge issue. You need to be concerned with possible/probable immune reaction, and make sure that the food is as little processed as possible.
@sabrinad8395 жыл бұрын
@@drekberg Ok thank you😊 I almost never eat processed food I was a bit concerned about the carbohydrates I eat because I once heared that they have the same bad influence on the body as sugar
@vanzeca5 жыл бұрын
@@sabrinad839 Sugar IS a carbohydrate (glucose+fructose), and all carbohydrates cause the problems Dr. Ekberg described. The only difference between them is the glycemic index, wich is how long it takes for your body to turn that carbohydrate into blood glucose, but all carbohydrates will raise your insulin levels and eventualy, if eaten too much and frequently, will lead to insulin resistance. I always had difficulty in gaining weight, you and me are probably very insulin sensitive, so we can eat more carbohydrates (maybe 50g-100g/day) without any long term problems. Still, if you're eating it, better choose the ones that are more nutrient dense, like brown rice and whole flour, since they have more vitamins, minerals and fiber. White rice and flour is pure carbohydrate, so, just "empty calories".
