No the 2013 chiefs started 9-0 and went on to an 11-5 record. The year before they tied with the jaguars for the worst record in the NFL, and turned it around the next season.

I want to add that this is actually easier to do in the present day than it has been in previous seasons. There's a 7th playoff team now which increases the odds more, and there's an extra game in the season which should increase the odds as well. Not saying it's a good chance still, but statistically speaking both of those things makes it easier! Great video though, thank you!

The 2017 Chargers also almost did it again. They started out 0-4 that season and rebounded to finish 9-7. They just missed out on the 6 seed via tiebreaker with the Titans, but as far as I know, that’s the only other time a team has started 0-4 and even come close to making the playoffs

I think you should have mentioned that that Bills team actually benched Doug Flutie before the playoff game. He did lead them to a 10-6 record, but the Bills owner had paid quarterback Rob Johnson a lot of money in the offseason. So despite missing so much time and the team rallying behind Flutie, Johnson got the start and they lost. Many Bills players to this day still believe that if Flutie played, they would’ve won

That was the 1999 Bills that lost to Tennessee in the wild card round. And I agree that the Bills would have more likely won that game if Flutie had played. I did a quick search and Flutie did okay in the playoffs after the 1998 season for the Bills against the Dolphins. I'm a Bills fan, but don't remember that game well as it was over 25 years ago, but apparently Flutie fumbled at the end, sealing a Miami victory. But that 1999 Bills season would be a case study in how not to handle a team from an owner/coaching standpoint.

Best turnaround ever, but it was over 2 seasons, was the 1981 Redskins, started 0-5, finished 8-8. While they didn't make the playoffs the following strike shortened season they went 8-1 and ended up winning the SB.

The 2015 Chiefs deserve a nod here. They did win their first game but lost their next five, only to win out and make the playoffs. Honestly one of my favorite teams to watch that season, always defying the odds. Eric Berry came back from his cancer diagnosis that year and played the best football of his career, they lost Jamaal Charles early in the season but still persevered. That was also the year that people really began to recognize how special of a football player Travis Kelce is.

Us Bengals fans out here grasping at straws 5 games into the season. I'm right there with you flem. Shit is so damn infuriating. Especially considering Joe is playing the best he's ever played in his NFL career and the offense is playing like one of, if not the very best unit in the league. Unfortunately our defense is beyond atrocious and the coaching hasn't been much better. Taking the ball out of Joe's hands in OT against Baltimore while he's actively in God mode had to be one of worst decisions in Zac Taylor's entire tenure. There's a very real possibility that Burrow wins the MVP and we miss the playoffs. But I ain't giving up yet. We'd be near the top of the AFC right now if the defense was at least playing average or even slightly below. But goddamn they've been the worst defense in the NFL so far.
