I was able to get 3 out of the 6 things in the actual store - the cedar shingles, cellulose insulation and copper piping. The cedar shingles were my favorite (couldn't stop smelling them!) and I am pretty sure we used that same type on our own home renovation. It's probably best to shop around for the best prices however. Home Depot is convenient but not always the cheapest. www.homedepot.com/p/18-in-1-Perfection-Western-Red-Cedar-Kiln-Dried-Shingle-125-Pack-234359/202084700

You got a pickup truck to haul that wood? ROCKWOOL all the way! Paper is mold food! PVC is fine as long as you keep it buried well beneath the surface of the ground so that it remains under 80 F also UV rays particalize all the toxins and turn them to gas very dangerous! Please keep making videos we need more investigators like you out there giving us good info. BUY USA! CHINA BAD! China killed my Father who was a carpenter with formaldyhyde products they lied about. They are poisoning us with plastic and formaldyhyde!

Absolutely love this video and would love more information on what materials to use for building a home that is non-toxic and human safe! Love any info on the products, such as pvc piping and why it’s so toxic as well! Thanks!

Thank you, I have MCS and have built and remodeled many homes for myself. The video is really well made, easy to understand and no fluff. I am always looking for errors or misunderstandings, and I saw none. I like your approach and openess and YOU ARE RIGHT.

I work for them and i could tell you that soy glue is better because of no off gassing but we had to throw out countless boards because the soy glue didn’t hold the layers together. And the cellulose insulation is sprayed with a heavy fire retardant

I love this video for homeowners that don’t necessarily know where to start on purchasing materials for their home projects regardless of size. The specific product names are helpful as well. My question for you would be, what should people look for when looking for an alternative to Home Depot and Lowe’s?

Start with your local hardware store or lumber yard or contact a home improvement contractor.

Really appreciate this video and wish more people would scrutinize the low quality toxic options found at the big box stores (especially in the tiny home and van life movement!).

Love this! I became chemically sensitive after buying a brand new home. Looking into building a non toxic home now. Thanks for sharing this.

Love! Thank you so much. It's unbelievable how much toxicity we live in and so hard to know where to start to clean it up. I learned something new about the PVC pipes. Now I'm questioning my water :(

I think they, (Home Despot") Hahah, sells Non or low VOC paint, too. They may also sell hardwood flooring, the real stuff, like white oak. I'm excited to try a, 1/3 rd beeswax, turpentine and boiled linseed oil finish on solid wood ! Thanks for the cool video! Keep up the good work! Have you smelled white cedar from Canada? It smells the best! I use it as a cheaper option for decks, as compared to plastic decking. I'll be asking my local lumber yard to source some of that FSC plywood. I will be using it for sub floors. Thanks again!!!

Keep up the good work. Another benefit of copper (in addition to ayurvedic tradition of drinking water out of copper cups as the extra copper in the water has health benefits including the prevention of grey hair) is that viruses etc cannot live on it. Copper is naturally bacteriostatic, thus ideal for door knobs and pipes.. It would be interesting to see a video on the horrors of PVC pipe. Also they sell a (I think its PVC?) board at home depot.. White sheets that u can cut easily into shelves. I like them (+even chemically sensitive people like them) because they have no smell.. Curious if they have the same carcinogens +endocrine disruptors as PVC Pipe, and curious (even if they did) if it would matter much if U were only using them as shelves since they might not out-gas much if you're not running water over it?? (as U would with PVC pipe) or would they??

What is the least toxic material to use in your opinion on the siding of a house that resists mold ?

At smaller, more specialized stores the staff is also more likely to be able to help you because they have a specific knowledge base rather than having to be a jack of all trades. And they’ll know better what’s ethical and safe!

Home Depot often carries Rockwool too, another clean insulation option. There are some insulation products that offer Greenguard certification, but it is worth noting that many of Rockwool's products carry Greenguard Gold certification, among many other certifications for sustainability, fire, and code compliance.

Of course Home Depot and other big chain stores carry thousands of products and the good, clean and fair options are a very small subset. Our hope is to get these ideas more mainstream and the big stores will see the business case for stocking and promoting responsible materials. Just look at all the organic offerings that Costco has, the same is totally possible in the building materials industry.

Wow, Great info. Keep this up. Many ppl can def use your channel. Can you Plz tell me if Home Depot's White Bulk Foam 3" x 24" x 72" is toxic or breathable? ( HD scan# 848625001947 / All new material POLYURETHANE FOAM / contains no added flame retardant ) Question: If it's not breathable, will i be ok if i wrap each foam with home depot's 80 gauge heavy duty stretch wrap? Would it then be safe to use during winter for my bedroom window for extra insulation? Your opinion would be highly appreciated!
