The 24” Platinum SHO fires right up, and makes quick work of 6” of Wisconsins finest powder. Stick around at the end of the video for an old time tip on how to keep your snow blower from freezing up.

This is probably the first movie I've seen where the operator doesn't blow snow over recently cleared area. 😊 Well done! Your such a good neighbour too! Closing others trashcan lids and clearing snow from sidewalks and your neighbours property! I'm sure your neighbours value what you do.

Hey Robert…. Thanks for the compliment. I was always taught to treat others like you want to be treated, so that’s what I try to do. I have easy talking though as I’m retired, and have no real time constraints. I am fortunate to live in the neighborhood I live in as it’s a common site to see neighbors looking out for each other.

I have a 24’’ SHO 2020 model with the fuel injection. It’s got a ton of power and a great machine. My Brother in law has an Ariens also. We love our snowblowers and wouldn’t buy anything else. Great job clearing your driveway. 🇨🇦💝🇺🇸👍

Hey Gerry…glad to hear you both love your Ariens snowblowers. I hear a lot of your comments from other 24” SHO owners. They are a machine with great handling & features with over the top power. I know I’m preaching to the choir here. If you enjoy videos like these, and haven’t already, please consider subscribing to the channel. Feel free to reach out anytime if I can help. Hopefully next winter we’ll get lots of snow, and I can do lots of videos!

That lake effect really does a number! I live in Michigan pretty much directly across from Chicago.
@blowingsnow4fun2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan. It’s real unpredictable. After the low pressure passes, the wind comes off the lake just right and bands of lake effect sets up. If your in one of those bands, and it lasts a while, you can get a foot added onto your snow total. You must get lake effect by you? Sometimes I get people that comment on my snow blowing videos giving me a hard time. Is kind of hard to figure where to blow the snow after a storm. We’ll get winds from the West, then they’ll switch to the East, then the Northeast. In my world you pick a direction that works until you get a face full. Then you let go of the impeller grip, let the snow settle, and pick a new direction to throw it until you get another face full. LOL it’s almost never a “ oh, the winds out of the West, I’ll throw everything East today”. How much snow have you guys gotten this year? Any big dumps by u?
@MegaVortex2 жыл бұрын
@@blowingsnow4fun Oh yea, we definitely get the lake effect here. Lake Michigan is to my west and it comes right across there from Chicago. I'm approximately 2 miles away from the lake as the crow flies. I'm definitely with you on getting a face full of snow. I have to move my shoot a lot as well! I think so far this year we've had a little over a foot, maybe 2. Definitely got dumped on about 3 times. I could be wrong on how much snow we've gotten. All I know is that if I come home from work and there's snow in the driveway, the Areins is coming out! haha. I love it. Definitely have used her quite a bit this season.

@@MegaVortex If you don’t live near a Great Lake, you can’t imagine how it plays with the winds during and after these storms. Last year we had 22” on the ground at this time, today 1”. When it comes. It’s great to have a machine you know you can count on like an Ariens.

Another great vid, Bruce. 👍 And excellent advice on removing the snow from the machine and augers/impeller before putting it away. If ice freezes your impeller to the bottom of the housing and you try and engage it, that's how you smoke the belts. (Or worse).

We had 5 inches this morning. I love my Pro 32". Cut through the snow like butter. The more I use it and get used to it the more I love it. It's only the 4th time I've gotten to use it this winter. Can't wait for the next snowfall, but I'm afraid winter is just about over. Oh by the way the thing is a gas guzzler!

Hi from Wisconsin. Glad you have gotten a chance to use your Ariens this winter. Not so much for me. 2 x 6” this winter that I used it for. Not surprised your pro uses more gas than your used to, so does my SHO compared to my old 8 Hp, but it has soooo much more power. In the scheme of things in a bad winter maybe you use an extra gallon or even two if it’s really sucking the petrol. So it’s an extra $6-9 depending on where you live. I can handle that the way she sends that EOD plow pile flying. Thanks for the comment and remember …fear no blizzard with an Ariens in your garage!

Hi, great videos 👍I noticed on your video when you started the blower in your garage the auger housing kind of having a wobble, I just purchased a delux 30 and mine also has a wobble the impeller to the shaft has an up and down wobble everything works fine though , haven’t used it yet , just wondering is that normal?
@blowingsnow4fun Жыл бұрын
Hi Elmondo…not sure what your referencing as you can’t see in my auger housing at start up? I can’t feel anything unusual in the way the machine is performing. If I look at the auger housing & impeller as it comes towards the camera, I don’t see any wobble. You know that for the machine (to operate properly,) the times on the impeller rotate in an inward motion visually. That draws the snow inward towards the impeller. If you stare at that there may be a visual illusion that appears? I had a machine years ago that got a rather large rock caught in the impeller, and bent an impeller blade slightly. This created a definite imbalance, and you could feel it in the handle bars. I had to bent that blade back to get it to go away. It was tough to see visually as the bend was probably less that 1/8”, but you can definitely feel that in the handlebars. I had to bend it back to get it to go away as I’m sure I would have ruined the impeller bushing otherwise. Believe me, there’s no wobble in anything on the SHO, it’s as smooth as silk when I engage that impeller. There’s always a slight flicker in an LED light when you look at it with a high speed camera that you don’t see with the naked eye. Maybe that’s what creating this appearance for you, not sure?
@larino66 Жыл бұрын
@@blowingsnow4fun Hi if you look at the video , your right i don’t see the auger but i see the black scraper on top of the auger housing move up and down because of the housing wobbling or something ,so that led me to believe there is something not turning right , thanks for your reply ☺️

@@larino66 ahhhh… the snow removal tool fits kind of loose in the bracket(always has). Anytime the engine is running it moves around a little (shakes etc). What your observing is the fine fit and finish of genuine Chinese plastic parts. Thanks for the positive comment, and for explaining how you reached your conclusion. I’ll admit, it had me scratching my head. We’re in the beginning of an ice storm warning here is Southern WI. A 1/8” of ice on everything, and now we’re getting grapple with 40 mph winds. Why does it look like the LED light flashes. Is that just the camera. Thanks
@blowingsnow4fun2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark. I noticed that too when I watched the video. I hope so. I went back out and took care of another neighbors who’s machine cramped out. I asked him to watch the light for me, and he said he couldn’t see anything that looked abnormal with the light. So I googled it. Apparently all LED lights flicker at a rate that can’t be noticed by the human eye. However, a good camera picks that up. I was filming with a iPhone XR, and I’m guessing the sun was so bright off the snow, it affected how often it caught it? IDK, but good eyes. Your the first comment I had that noticed it. Learn something new every day! Thanks for the comment.
@roberteriksson1629 Жыл бұрын
Your absolutely right. It's the same effect that makes helicopter blades appear to spin slowly or even backwards. The framrate are similar to or a multiple of the LED flashing frequency so it appears to flash slowly. The eye is not as fast as the camera. So the light appears steady.
@blowingsnow4fun Жыл бұрын
Hey Mark…. I believe there is actually a name for this phenomena. It’s called the “strobe effect” for LED light flickering on video. I’ve also been told the faster your camera records (frames per second) the less likely this is. Thanks for the + comment

Is it just me or does anyone else like watching Ariens snowblowing vids lol ... I think the most useless accessory on the Ariens is the electric start, in the last three years my machine has started on the first pull every time , sometimes even on a half pull.
@blowingsnow4fun Жыл бұрын
Glad your enjoying watching the SHO throw snow as I really enjoy using it. I watched videos of guys using this machine & others when I was shopping in 2018&2019. Every manufacturer says there machine is the best thing since sliced bread, and the major consumer magazine rates machines by blowing wet saw dust instead of actually testing them in snow LOL. I found watching real people using real machines was one of the most helpful ways of evaluating them. That’s why I made my original videos, and then KZbinrs from all over the country (including Hawaii) were commenting how much they enjoyed them (said they were therapeutic) and asked if I could keep them coming and do some basic upkeep how to videos as well. The moral of the story is that you aren’t the only one that enjoys someone blowing snow. As far as electric start. When your a young healthy person, with a machine that starts and runs great, an electric start on an Ariens seems like a waste to me to. Kind of a PIA to have to use it once in a while, when they start so easy, just to keep them functional. However, I’m 65 this summer, and if this machine lasts me 20 years, I don’t think I’ll be pull starting it when I’m 80 and up. Thanks for the positive comment. If you haven’t subscribed to the channel please consider it. I’ll be posting another snow blowing video in the near future.

Hey Jim. Lived in Wisconsin my whole life, and I’ve owned a cabin in the NE corner of the state for over 40 years. Sooo I know what you mean with this being an average snowfall. However, I have subscribers in Mexico, Mississippi, and yes even Hawaii. There’s something therapeutic about watching someone else blow snow, so every chance I get, I set up my phone and give them something new to watch. Quite a few state that they watch my videos to help with snowblower purchasing decisions, and they want to see the Ariens throwing different consistencies/ depths of snow, so I oblige them. Some winters (like this one with the dog gone El Niño) don’t have nearly as much snow as I remember here as s kid. So I take what I can get and put it up on the channel. This video has been up around a year, and it has over 1.6 K views, so someone is finding some use in it? Thanks for the comment Jim, and I hope I get a big blizzard to share videos of this winter. (But I’m not holding my breath)
