Love the black/brown combo. I consider it a classic look. The pointed toed shoe looks so great with the outfit I think a chocolate brown would go with the chestnut pants and the cream sweater is nice. I agree with covering the stuff, especially with leggings. I am taller so can get away with boots with leggings and tunic length tops. I live in WI so boots are required in the winter. I still need to get to Maurice’s to check out the mom jeans and will have to read the show notes to see where you got the dark jeans, I find dark jeans difficult to wear. Lee makes some jeans with just a bit of elastic on the waste band that are comfy (Amazon, Kohls or Lee website). I can’t do the jogger length because of swelling to my ankles. :-( but think they are so cute.

Burgundy or purple would go nicely with the mustard (yellowish) corduroy pants. Olive or sage and light gray would also combine nicely. Gray booties or those leopard print flats should also be a good combo

Hi Marnie, Everything looked stylish and pretty. With the brown faux suede leggings you could get brown Chelsea boots that are similar in color to the leggings. The nude Chelsea boots look good with it too. You could wear those with a long sweater that is a bright color like teal or red maybe? Dress up or down with jewelry. Thanks for the fun video. My advise for the ivory top, camel leggings is riding boots! I have a pair of those leggings and I wear them with one of my three pair’s usually. Lol. I know, too many, but I like options. Plus my foot size hasn’t changed in 30 years so I can invest. I have black, brown, and black with a brown top. I don’t do heels very often but you certainly could! Especially now that San Antonio has joined the nation in cold weather!! Although cold and rainy like today is not my favorite. Happy Hanukkah!!

Hello Marnie. I bought the ivory and camel Banana Republic cargo pants last fall/winter season. I love them. As you stated, you can dress them up or make them more casual. I just purchased a pair of BR camel corduroy high-waisted slim crop pants and I plan to wear them with black ankle boots and/or white high-top sneakers (purchased from ECCO - so comfortable). I agree that the Spanx rust leggings are hard to pair. I enjoy your videos. Thanks.

Great video! I like how you’re asking for feedback about those suede leggings. It’s fun to read everyone else’s ideas. I think I would do a taller black leather boot, either mid calf or riding length, and a black sweater. I think an asymmetrical hemline would add interest and keep my petite body from being swallowed up. And I might add a textured necklace of some sort if the neckline of the sweater allowed for it.

That’s tricky since I don’t know the color or the cut-is it a pencil style, more full? Black? Brown? Pair it with a black turtleneck or closely fitted knit black long sleeve shirt and suede boots that go up to the knee. Or throw a blazer or cardigan over it to mix up more fabrics.

It's so helpful to follow your thought process as you figure out how to make outfits work. I'm learning so much! I think the main reason why the rust pants and faux suede leggings were tough to style was because they are warm toned colors, and you have cool coloring. I used to think I could get away with wearing colors outside my palette on the bottom, because they were far from my face. I've since learned that this doesn't work because 1) the eye is drawn to something that's not in harmony with your natural coloring and 2) you have a hard time making outfits with off-palette colors because they clash with the clothes that are your go-to's - those that suit your coloring.

Sticking my nose in here Brenda I hope you dont mind! I live in Ontario and past a certain point in fall, bare ankles aren't happening! Keep your ankles warm. Socks same color as pants or boots, whatever you think works with the outfit, or go for something patterned even. I'm in full on winter gear now but inside at work if I wear ankle boots, my ankles are staying covered or I'm grumpy 😆

I would say generally it's not the most stylish look-either try to find longer pants or booties that have a slightly taller shaft. The "sock" bootie style would work well-and keep you warm!

I was recently at free people with my daughter and found the most dreamiest oversized corduroy button-down in a warm camel color. I love it and I found I can pair it with so many different colors and one of the colors I really like is pink. I have a pink mockneck tshirt that looks really cool under it ;my daughter even said something to me. So I went and got a charcoal one. Price per wear totally worth it. I live in a cold climate this time of year and I’m investing in well-made cashmere (One or two a year)because I’m tired of buying things that are going to end up in a landfill. And it’s not so much than I think so much about sustainability or anything it’s just that I want things that are gonna last a long time and not things that I’m going to.. get rid of. Absolutely love some of your pants choices/Many of your outfits actually.And I might need to get a pair of nude boots because I didn’t realize they go with so many things I’ve got other colors but that’s some thing I’ve overlooked. I've always had to deal with a bit of body dismorphia making most of my lower body purchases too large. I prefer purchasing jeans and pants that look best hugging the curves when I am somewhere I can try them on prior to purchase. Because of this issue I began having my items I could only purchase via internet or catalogs taken to a tailor. Unless you are lucky enough to have the majority of your clothes custom made, this is definitely the way to go.

heh Goldgurl, just a comment about color pairing. So that taupy brown pair of slacks will go with red, yellow, light blue, cream and the black sweater you pared it with which looks edgy and cool with your chelsea boots. Those rust color cords can go with fall nature colors: (emerald green, army green, tan, gold, lime green, sky blue, salmon, pumpkin, etc. but not berry colors. Wear those rust slacks with black loafers (socks optional). Spanx leggings are begging for kneehigh boots (breaks up the leg a bit)

I love this style of video. We all have individual pieces we love but struggle to style. If I was your girlfriend shopping with you in the dressing room, I’d tell you not to buy those two Spanx bottoms. They do nothing for your figure, no matter how you style them.
