Stealing someone's baby is an unforgivable crime. It's a theft of experiences, memories and the future the birth mother and child could have had. Erasing a mother from her child's life and selfishly etching yourself is the ultimate act of selfishness.

Isn’t that crazy?! I think it’s so sad for the family who love them, but get left behind. We had a close relative disappear with no word for 17 years. Then she calls up her ex husband to see if he knew how to get in touch with her family & she reappears. She had apparently just wanted to take off and live her own life and not be in touch with the family I guess. It was weird. Then you have to decide if you’re going to forgive them or not.

Years ago, I saw Kamiyah's case being profiled and her birth mother was interviewed. Even Iyanla tried to work with the family. Her birth mother was furious and stated she didn't want to be "disrespected" by Kamiyah and her loyalty to the woman that kidnapped her. She supported the fact that they weren't talking. I know her birth mother has been devastated and is a victim. Kamiyah is a victim as well. Though she was kidnapped, this woman is the only mother she ever knew and knowing her whole life was a lie has destroyed her. Hopefully, both will come to understand each other and heal from some of the trauma.

My husband's grandfather disappeared when my husband's father was 4 years old. The kids were always told that their father went on a trip to Mexico (they are Latinos) and never came back. They always wondered if he died down there. The oldest daughter however knew better. She saw him once a few years after his disappearance. While doing family history we discovered he had been in prison for a while and then remarried and had other children. There were 7 by the first wife when he left. His first wife divorced him on grounds of desertion and remarried. She had one more by the second husband. The funny part is the mug shot of the biological grandfather in prison looks just like my son, his great grandson.

When I was younger, I was quite judgmental towards people who decided to *willingly* “disappear” and start a new life. I thought it was absolutely disgusting and selfish behavior to put your family and friends through that kind of mental anguish for years/decades/forever… But then I got older and “wiser,” by seeing the type of horrible people a few of my friends had as “loved ones”-and the truly awful things some of them endured at the hands of those “loved ones”. Now I can understand why there are some people who willingly disappear. I would 100% never encourage anyone to do it…but I get it.

My mother disappeared in late 2019, can't believe its already 4 years. She finally left my abusive father long after my sister and I had run off in our teens, she moved in with my sister in Dublin and then came to stay with me in London. One night I came home from work and she was gone taking nothing but her coat and purse. I ran all over London and Essex and the police asked the guardia to check my sister's in Ireland even though i had already phoned her. One day i went to my grandparents and my excuse of a father was there, he asked about my mother then told me to concentrate on my own life as I'd never find her, then he smirked and walked away. I was dumbfounded, he was always a super violent manipulative narcissist but not for a minute did i think he had anything to do with her disappearance, it would be just like him to enjoy making me feel that he did without being involved. I just don't know. The police don't care. And the paternal side of my family thinks his gods gift to humankind. I cant believe she didn't say goodbye or leave a note, i just hope she walked away and is fine somewhere reading a book over her glasses, smoking a roll up cigarette. I think of his smirk every day. He must love it.

@@tomkeegan3782 Mate, it isn't a case. If someone over 18 disappears and theres no blatant, direct evidence of foul play the police don't touch it like they used to never touch spousal abuse. People are adults if they want to disappear, they can. The morality and ethics, the loss and heartache ARE NOT the law. Tamara going off and disappearing on her own free will must’ve been so devastating for her and her family. I don’t think a day goes by where her family always regrets ever having a fight with Tamara to the point where’d she’d rather leave than be with them. The fact her life was ended shortly as well is also heartbreaking, especially when she might’ve possibly reunited with her family when she grew older.

A young lady went missing in Wilkesboro, NC back in the early 1980's. Angela Hamby was running some errands before going on a shopping trip with her mother and sister and has not been seen since. Her car and purse were found in the parking lot of Glenn's Tastee Freez, but she has never been found. A local paper still runs the story occasionally in an attempt to get new info but so far there's been no luck. I don't know the family personally but have met Angela's father. My stepmom's mother left her 4 kids with her brother and sister-in-law because her husband was abusive and she was trying to get away from him. After a while, she tried to get them back but the brother and SIL said she abandoned them and refused to give them back. The courts allowed them to adopt all the kids. She then went on to marry someone else and have 4 more children. My stepmom did not meet her mother or siblings until she was in her early 30's.

@heatherw.4561, that's questionable. In order for the couple to get the kids' medical care or enroll them in school, they had to have custody. That prompted them to go to the courts. At this time, the couple who were caring for those 4 children for who knows how long probably heard all kinds of stories from the children of what was really happening in the home and the couple did the right thing by providing loving home for 4 lost children. Someone should thank the couple and not be so quick to believe what the long lost mother has to say about it.

"After almost 45 years of silence, Steven Kubacki is ready to reveal where he went after he disappeared. His experience is much stranger-and also much more believable-than anyone suspects. The story involves a revolutionary organization, an idealistic terrorist-in-training named Nathan T. Stanfield, spiritual experiences with hallucinogenic drugs and alternate realities, the French Foreign Legion, and a young man’s struggle to find meaning during a turbulent time." Apparently he's writing a book about this? I couldn't find any other information

Story 1 makes me so sad. I think that’s part of the reason why when my oldest was born I only put him down to go to the washroom. I let the nurses give my littlest one a bath, but that was in a small town hospital and I knew the nurses personally. My third I had in a birth Center with a midwife and we were only there for 2 hours after he was born. They also took all his vitals and measurement in the same room as us, so I had eyes on him the whole time.
@cristinb5415
@cristinb5415 Жыл бұрын
I was the same with my first. However, my second was born in late 2019, and I gave birth in a different hospital that had crazy security measures, so I eased up a little bit. They had a special band on her that special security for labor and delivery (more background checks) put on the babies. It could not be removed without one of their highly guarded keys, and it was basically an alarm. If she left the floor without permission, an alarm would go off, and the hospital would go into immediate lockdown. Also, to get from delivery to the postpartum room, we were escorted with a nurse and two of the special guards. Only people who had permission from the families could gain access to the floor, and they had to sign in/ out and be looked over by security. The nurses were also wonderful and put up with me double-checking their badges and making sure to take her only when necessary (some complications after the birth). They also double-checked my band and her band to make sure it was right. I hope more hospitals are able to adapt to these measures. I know they aren't fool-proof, but I had way less anxiety about my second born when I had no other option than to give birth in the hospital (high risk for both of us). These measures would hopefully help prevent cases like that one. I know they are pricey, but it's better than being sued and having a new mother lose their baby.

from what I understand the birth mom couldn't accept that the girl continued to have a relationship with the kidnapper and wanted her to obey her...think about it if you were told your mom had kidnapped you at birth, but nothing else was different, wouldn't you want to maintain contact with her? The birth mom was victim of crime but the daughter had to pay for it by losing the mom and life she always knew. In general, when it comes to custody and family i think we put way too much emphasis on biology and this idea that people own theor children. I think familial biology means very little, especially in terms of the childs perspective and in most typical custody stuff it's given way too much value. Except in this case it was an actual kidnapping so obviously the kidnapper needs to be punished. But the birth mother should have understood that although the kidnapping was what was traumatic for her, the correction would be just as traumatic for the daughter. She lost her "mother", family, siblings, identity, life, normality etc. To go to soneone she had never even met who acted entitled to her love, respect and devotion. The birth mom needs to accept that the daughter Ahadnt been mistreated and didn't share her experience of grief etc, and she will never get thec16 yrs back to raise her...if she wanted rship w her daughter now, she is pretty much adult, she needs to approach her like a foster parent or fun aunt and not expect or feel entitled to her...the daughter doesn't owe her anything, she had nothing to do with it. I can just imagine a birth mother putting of all those yrs of grief worry etc dreams of reunion all ths baggage on the girl.

It would be almost impossible to have a baby stolen now. They have an alarm put on their ankle that will go off if it’s cut off and that’s the only way to get it off once it is on. They cut it off in front of you when you are going home and once it is the baby had to stay with the mother until they wheel you out to the car. It also requires more than one nurse signing and talking to security right before doing it. The doors to the floor are also locked and to get in you have to know the name, room number of the mom and have ID scanned. Where I work they still ask the mother first if they know who the person is before letting them in. Most places don’t have big windows where you can look into the nursery area either. They also put the babies and mothers name on the ankle monitor and bassinet with an ID number matching the mothers bracelet that they check every time to make sure babies don’t get switched accidentally

that would rip your heart out, finding your child who was stolen as a baby then thst happening..but itsall understandable.. the woman who she grew uo with was all she ever knew.. and probably blames her in a way for having her "mother" taken away by police

In regards to Steven, it's a very unusual case. If the last thing he remembers is snow, how did he survive on his own in the wilderness? If he has extreme amnesia, how does no one else remember seeing him during this time? I know it sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, but oddly enough, alien abduction sounds likely! Otherwise, how would he have surived all on his own, in different clothing, in the wilderness?

I know this comment is 6 months old, but in case you're still wondering what has happened to Steven: He wrote on his website "After almost 45 years of silence, Steven Kubacki is ready to reveal where he went after he disappeared.

Kamaya not wanting nothing to do with her real mom was super tragic. That lady that took her should get the life sentence she gave Kamaya's real mom. I'm sorry but some of the other stories were just selfish & cruel. Who leaves their young children with an abuser?! Just my opinion.

She grew up believing the kidnapper was her mother, and she loved her. Original mom comes along and the mom who raised her goes to jail. From her perspective, original mom ruined her life. Sadly, it often doesn't go well. I saw a great documentary about two boys switched at birth, when the mistake was discovered the parents already loved the wrong kids, so they all met and the decision was made to live with the mistake. However, one family was very wealthy and the other wasn't. So the kid who should have had much in material goods grew up with little, and had to work hard for everything and had a tough go of it, while the kid who should have had little grew up with plenty and became somewhat of an entitled ass. The families maintained contact over the years, so that they could keep track of their natural born kids, and the boys were aware of the situation, when they were younger, they were friends. The boy who had to be raised poor grew to resent all he was missing out on, and resented the poor parents who raised him, the father died or left, so he ended up with a poor single mom. The other boy was an ass and had no interest in his poor single mother. It didn't end well, and I don't want to ruin it. I saw it on youtube but can't remember the name.

@@TheKim369 I can’t find it so you might as well tell me. It’s not “ruining” a story. It’s someone’s life and I would like to know what happened.

Ludington, MI is NOT pronounced Lood-ington, but just as it's spelled, Lud-ington. Nothing eerie about that place. It's one of my favorite places to visit - in the summer. :)

1st story...Ive been through some pain. Some would say Ive sufferred ALOT. But never once did I selfishly consider that causing someone else unimaginable pain would alleviate my own. In fact, it would do the exact opposite for me. That would be the tipping point that I couldnt live with!
