Diego - thank you! I really appreciate your videos! I'm trying to learn better practice methods and your videos are awesome for that!

I've been watching a lot of videos from your "How to practice" playlist lately and I find them very helpful. Some stuff new to me and some other things I had heard here and there or had been feeling instinctively myself during my practice. I'm glad to have a confirmation of that and such a well structured way to implement them. It makes my practice actually more fun. Regarding results, it's a bit too soon to make a proper assessment but it feels like it's working quite well. Also I think that what you recommend reveals and encourages one of the great things about music, that if you want to do it well, you have to be mindful. Not only when your doing it, but mindful about the whole process. Which is really great and very likely to give you tools for life in general. So thank you a lot for that. I know who to turn to if ever I want to learn flamenco or classic ;)

Hi! This is such a wonderful comment to read! I’m so happy to hear that you’re finding the videos helpful. And I absolutely agree about the transferability of mindfulness in music practice and performance to mindfulness in life. 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Really enjoying your channel. What is your opinion on the best way to start reading music. Do I just plunge in a pick it up? I can already read tabs. I can figure out the fretboard notes but not quickly. Just waiting for my Alhambra 7P to arrive. Thanks Barry

Thank you for commenting! My absolute favorite book for learning how to read music is this one: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGV47MXX/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_FF33YY4PGSWQ8QRZ9VRJ?linkCode=ml2&tag=sonanta-20 I hope this helps!

You probably will benefit from learning to read music. My classical guitar teacher swears by the Royal Conservatory Classical Guitar books. I'm not 100% convinced but I had 5 years of piano when I was younger, so not sure how else people might learn. You might just try finding a piece in standard musical notation and figuring it out - or find a tab/ standard and use that to learn?

An observation: Your videos seem to lend themselves to a putting the audio into a podcast á la Huberman. I sometimes listen on my phone during transition (driving, waiting in line, etc. Most of your demonstrations are well described so I think dedicated students can easily follow. Also, you would be able to monetize your recommendations (D’Adderio?) more easily. I think your presentation style is excellent in that you don’t spend a a lot of time on preamble or self promotion. Again, for dedicated students.

Hey Diego. Which guitar will you choose for a beginner- Yamaha C40, C70, Ortega 122, Valencia 564 or Fender 105N?

Hi! Thank you for commenting. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with those models but I did write a short article on some that I have personally tried and recommend. Here are two links where you can check out my personal recommendations: - Flamenco Guitars: diegoalonsomusic.com/post/3-best-flamenco-guitars-for-2024-beginner-to-intermediate/ - Classical Guitars: diegoalonsomusic.com/post/4-best-classical-guitars-for-2024-beginner-to-intermediate/ Thanks again!

Brandon Aker did some videos with a luthier in Chicago-land, and in one of them (I think the "$1000 vs $100,000 guitar" video?) they talk about a solid $500-$1,000 guitar. Or, try looking for Japanese made classical guitars- they tend to sell for much less then their musical value. I play a 1970's Ryoji Matsuoka that cost me $1,500 and it got a nod of approval from my professional classical guitarist teacher. I see guitars by Ryoji at around $500 in a quick Google search, for what it's worth.
