I quit tracking my expenses three years ago because I thought I didn’t need it anymore, that I had it under control. But girl was I wrong. I recently started again and I eat my money. Like, the amount I spend on food is ridiculous. Time to shape up! Thanks for this! 🙏🏻

I don’t think it’s necessary to track expenses of ur ‘Wants’ if you always only allocate X dollars towards it every month.

Same, I was using it too much when I ended tracking expenses using Toshl. I tracked from 2016 to 2018 I think. 2019 and 2020 I spent like crazy on good, going 20 times a month to the Prisma store (foods). Now I started with their Pro app and I am going to Prisma store at the max 6 times a month. I try to go shop once a week and my food budget is 120 a month.

In my opinion, venturing into a good investment is not just a strategy for generating passive income but a profitable saving method for future expenses. Those who fail to make the right decisions early in life end up regretting it. Nevertheless, investing can be difficult and risky doing it solely, For this reason, I advise seeking help from professionals(financial advisors). It’s not just watching videos and reading investment books the challenge is using them well.

These are very valuable rules for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $89k now to put in the market.

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. I know someone who made over $350k in this recession influenced market, but to the best of my knowledge, it was through a financial advisor.
@martingiavarini
@martingiavarini 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $21k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

Coming from an unorganized personal finances and shifting to finally have it organized will make it hard from the beginning, but once you have already turned it into a habit, there's no way you want to do it again but the organized one.

If we are taught that $4000 invested monthly into the S&P 500 index (8% annual ROI) will grow to $2,350,000 after 20 years, $3,800,000 over 25 years and $5,600,000 after 30 years then we will have a lot less 20 year old making $35k and running to the Mercedes dealership to blow the money

I started my personal finance journey back in college and that's how I was able to save up for my emergency fund until I started working and I was able to build my stock portfolio. Years later and I now have a few real properties and even insurances. WIth personal finance you can definitely save up no matter how small you have at first.

For something that small, it might be best to always get the receipt and keep it in a special place, whether that be your wallet, an envelope, etc. At the end of the week/month, you can dump them out and see if your general spending is roughly the same or if there's fluctuations somewhere. You could also set aside a cash allowance specifically for "treats", and when it's gone, it's gone.

At 4.48 you add in your categories which automatically get added to a separate table with the amount, how have you done this? I have downloaded your sheet but it’s not happened automatically like yours. Much appreciated. Amy

I just like writing down what I spend and then calculate what I have left for the month. I always make a spread a month with my (static) expenses and static income, which will determine my budget. I also include some "may be" future expenses. We have a caresystem where everyone has to have a care insurance, and there will always be a certain amount you will have to pay when you need care of a hospital, drug, special care, I just defide the max amount I might have to pay by 12, so I have it at least laying around for when the bill actually comes

Hi Mariana, as a non-american, do you find those podcasts useful? i find many times the things that american podcasts touch on dont really translate for my life, as I dont have the type of debt or system, or even credit card systems or banking systems, so it is interesting, but not really something that I will use for my life. loved this video and all the resources, thank you! :)

I find them useful for general advice. Unfortunately anything concerning credit score/credit cards isn’t really useful in my country but I try to search for advice that is applicable as much as possible

credit cards and credit scores don’t exist in other countries ?!?!
@sadhbheire
@sadhbheire 2 жыл бұрын
@@haleyhewkin566 I dont think so.. usually in europe people dont use credit cards as often and I never heard of scores outside of an american context. I lived in 4 countries in europe and 1 in asia. Credit cards are usually not used unless its absolutely necessary. usually you can pay for things online with a debit card.

@@sadhbheire that’s interesting. even here u have the option to not use a credit card so i wonder why americans are so attached to using them and having credit debt is such a common thing here. how do they not have credit scores tho? in america u can’t buy certain things without credit. i was denied a phone before bc of it lmao so in other countries they just believe u when u say ur gonna pay ur rent/car payments on time?

My bank account can't say much positive things about me but I'm a delivery driver and I've been saving up my tips and I can typically save around $400-$500 a month. It still means 12 hour shifts on the weekends, or at least once or twice in the week and yeah I feel tired a lot but at least I'm not so completely broke. At least to where I'm not throwing my money away. The best part is that I'm also organizing and saving my money into multiple pockets. So there's like 10-20 different things I'm (trying to) save up for. From an espresso machine (so I'm not spending $6 and $7 at Starbucks all the time) a piano keyboard, to car insurance and trying to pay off my car. I'm even saving up for mother's day so I can do something nice for my mom. And several other things like saving for my own place and clothes shopping, etc.. tip jobs are good to have when you want cash to put away each day. 😊
