Agree 100% as usual! I love books! I tried to use a Kindle etc… and for a while it was ok, but I inevitably went right back to my habit of buying and reading books for the reasons you mentioned! You are a great example of never ending learning Steve 🥳

My parents gave me an opera by Mozart. They didn't know it was in the original language, Italian. So, in order to understand the lyrics, I started learning Italian. Because I wanted to understand how different countries' viewpoint was on certain subjects, I additionally bought the quality press newspapers of a few countries. The Guardian, The Independent, The Independent on Sunday, Le Monde, ... It was very interesting. I did this for over a year (newspapers printed in France, UK, Italy). A headline I still remember was "Why do we yawn? It's all about empathy" (2007, "The Independent").

I was always more into printedbooks than into digital stuff. I still try to print out or copy by hand whatever resources I find on the internet. I just love books.

Hello Steve, I agree. I use also different grammar books, because sometimes one explains a topic better than the other.

I buy language books too, and for the same reasons as you listed here, I also have a lot from the Teach Yourself series. Assimil seems popular, but I haven't seen it in shops here in Finland

I read and listened to the audio book of Harry Potter book 1 in Polish. Sure I didn’t pick up really any words, but I knew where I was in story and more importantly, I can now more confidently pronounce most Polish words. Now I’ve done this I’ve moved to 100 daily stories from Real Polish. I’ve bought the hard copy of Harry Potter book 1 for when I am capable of reading and understanding it myself. Now 16 days into the next 3+ years of learning Polish. 🎉

There's a point in learning French and German in 2025? Or it's better go for Russian, Chinese or another language?

Please bring more review options to the mobile app like restructuring a sentence ❤
@Thelinguist2 сағат бұрын
It is there but you need to have at least one saved LingQ for it to be there. If you are in sentence mode (see bottom of lesson page), you will find sentence review in the bottom -right.
@gamingwithpurg3anarchy157Сағат бұрын
@Thelinguist ooohh thank you! I didn't know you had to be in sentence review to use this feature. I don't ever use the sentence mode.

Seriously? My comment got deleted? Why?! I was pointing out a few absolutely uncontroversial disadvantages of electronic reading, basically agreeing with you, that books are good - and I get c*nsored by you for this? I've been using your app for quite a while, transferring you money every month. Which I started because I watched your videos here. So basically any criticism isn't welcome here, no one may state anything negative, and your videos are just a chain of commercials for your app? Smh, honestly.
