If I move my head to "watch" the arrow every shot goes left... I have been really working on that part of my form and paper tuning is GREAT for that. It makes you concentrate on what the hell you are doing!

Such a common problem and easy to not see that you’re doing it! Thank you for watching!

#3 is a big one and often overlooked.

It is by far the most effort to fix, and unfortunately I think that’s a reason so many people ignore it

I can get my FP touching shafts, or punch through veins. My BH (QAD exodus 125gr) ALWAYS hits left of the field tips. Ive played with rest (which affected both BH and FT point of impact. Ive played with sights, and i even played with poundage. Im starting to wonder if this is an unavoidable flight difference

Can a single-cam bow be timed? I got a Matthews Swithback. Just restrung it you got me wondering...
@toothofthearrowbroadheads Жыл бұрын
In simple terms, no. The point of the solo cam when it was developed was to create the most forgiving bow possible. By only having one cam, there is no timing to be done really. There are some adjustment points to be made, but the bow can't really go out of 'time'. You may wonder why everyone doesn't shoot solo cams. As with most things in archery, every benefit comes with a tradeoff, and solo cams generally are a bit less powerful than dual cams. You have a lesser need for fine tuning, but slightly lower power. If you have broadhead flight issues with a solo cam, your arrow spine would be the first thing to look at followed by arrow rest set up!

Does 3 to 4 fletch change spine because of the added weight or is there another reason?
@toothofthearrowbroadheads10 ай бұрын
Theoretically the extra vane does add weight to the back end and softens your spine, but it’s a negligible amount in practice. The 4th fletch adds 33% more stabilizing power to your arrow, and will outperform a 3 fletch in pretty much every way as a result

So im wondering why my 2 blades group with my field points but 3 blades group left?
@toothofthearrowbroadheads3 ай бұрын
@@fishhunter348 most likely a spine issue. The 2 blades are super weight centered and will act just like a field point. That being said, you can try moving your arrow rest a hair to the right at a time to bring everything together. Since the 2 blades are so field point like, they shouldn’t move as you do this and your 3 blade groupings should come towards and eventually with your field points as well
@fishhunter3483 ай бұрын
@@toothofthearrowbroadheads thanks for that!. I was thinking of tweaking the rest a little more but thought it would move the 2 blades away from the field points. For some reason I thought a small 3 blade would fly better since it has "wings" coming off the head in 3 different planes, I thought that would result in better flight. Doesn't seem to be the case. 2 blades are single bevel too which will aid in rotation, working with the vanes. All very interesting stuff. 🤔

@@fishhunter348 in a perfect world the broadhead has zero impact over arrow flight. You can get there but it takes some work! I’ve got a full bow build somewhere here in the channel

Broadheads that put more weight forward will change the balance of the arrow ! If The broadhead moves the weight forward and changes the balance ! If you change the balance point of the arrow it will hit a different spot on the target ! I use 100g spitfire and 85g bludgeon( the rubber is much wider and has more drag , being littler moves the balnce to the rear of the bance point makes hit the same spot as the 100 g spitfire broadhead and 100g feild point ) and 100g feild points and they all hit the same point on the target ! If you shoot a different weight of a bullet it will hit a different spot with the same sight picture ! Funny you don't say anything about the weight of the broadhead or feild points or types of broadheads , the longer the broadhed is the more weight is forward of the balance point of the arrow and it will hit a different ( lower ) spot on the target !
@toothofthearrowbroadheads Жыл бұрын
This is a good point! The reason I don’t mention it is because I assume that most people will shoot the same field point and broadhead weight. In terms of weight distribution, you are right this is a point that I could have mentioned. There are broadheads which have very poor weight distribution (meaning too much of the weight is not in the ferrule) and those would fall into reason #2, the components just are not of high quality. Thanks so much for the reply!

Good video. Bareshaft tuning is excessive and makes little sense.

If you are going to paper tune with vanes anyways (which you should), there really is no need for bareshaft in my opinion! Thanks for watching and commenting!
