You start by becoming this person, to yourself. She says that again and again. Show up for you, hold space for you, allow yourself to feel all the feelings, process and integrate them, and let them move you towards empowerment. We attract what we are. We cannot "see" the emotionally available people, until we completely see ourselves. It's like we have blinders on. When we've healed our core wounds, deal with our cognitive distortions, understand our defense mechanisms and reprogrammed our subconscious programming (which influences 95% of our behavior), questioned our biases, and really know who we are...we then attract (and see) emotionally available people. Too often, people try to find emotionally available people to try to make them whole...without doing their own work. Emotionally available people, secure people, see the red flags of those who are not emotionally available...and they won't connect longterm with you, if you don't have emotional availability with yourself.

@@Alphacentauri819 I’m sure you are coming from a desire to help…. But this “attract where you are” trope is victim blaming and evokes shame. I spend lots of time on my own journaling, meditating, doing my best to heal, therapy 12 steps, LOA which is spiritual bypassing essentially.. spirituality.. but I was born into a dysfunctional family.. we can’t heal all on our own… It just gives this ambiguous message that folks that haven’t found their people yet are doing something wrong.. or don’t love themselves. I’m very in tune with my own emotions, even recognize when I’m feeling bad about myself, and I work on it… but this idea of perfection in silos doesn’t help where I’m at or society in general. What about people that feel like crap inside and find people who inspire their healing work? Also sometimes bad things happen to good people. I’m fully on board with reprogramming… and self exploration, but there is a deficit of emotional availability in the secular world. Many have not even considered that question.
