I’ve felt this way about him for a good while now but just found out he was dating my friend yesterday. I feel bad for still liking him knowing that he’s dating my friend…and to be frank, I feel like an asshole for it. They’re having problems in THEIR relationship but I’m trying not to interfere, even though another friend of mine agrees that his girlfriend doesn’t seem to really even like him. I think it's unfortunate that relationships are all about sex nowadays. Sex isn't the end all be all of a relationship. It's merely one small aspect. Communication, trust, emotional intimacy, there are so many aspects to a relationship that are neglected due to this obsession over sex. I'm excited for sex just as much as the next girl, but there are so many aspects to explore before that and my relationship with my boyfriend has flourished in so many ways because we focused on our emotional, spiritual, and communicative connection before jumping into sex. Sex is a furthering of a connection already formed. Relationships nowadays are short and unsuccessful because they are all about instant gratification and what I can get out of it. They are very self centered. That's not the foundation for a long lasting relationship. Relationships are about sacrifice and compromise. They are about love and surrender. They are all give and no take. They are wonderful and beautiful and challenging and hard. They are a struggle. They are pain. I might even keep distance (two steps away or so) from him which is of course unintentional and due to extreme nervousness.
