Thank you so much for this, just watching your video lowered my anxiety. I've been struggling with anxiety my whole life (even as a toddler!). I've always been prescribed medication but every single one I've tried has made my situation worse, usually making me feel suicidal. I've been without medication for over 10 years, just barely scraping by. I live in the middle of nowhere and our health care system is in shambles, and the one psychologist I managed to get an appointment with made me feel even worse, I felt like I couldn't connect with her at all. I've gone through multiple traumatic events in the past year and nothing I've tried has managed to soothe my anxiety, until I watched this video. Obviously, it's not a magic remedy but your tips really help me calm down. I'll definitely be binge-watching your videos. Thank you so much, Mark Tyrrell!

Does anybody have a fear of their own panic attacks? i got diagnosed in 2012 with panic disorder/generalized anxiety/agoraphobia. I could be having a perfectly fine day and the little voice in my head says "You might panic" or "you've had a panic attack before here!" The worst is stressing over having a panic attack days before 'expecting' something to go wrong and then putting yourself in the situation and then realizing it was nothing you even expected and then panic because you were wrong ahahhahaahhaah It feels like an everlasting cycle but thankfully my anxiety has pushed me to do so much with my life in a positive way that at times it feels like my best friend/worst enemy. It it possible to panic while you are exercising because your body thinks it panics? I have a million question ! P.S - i will never take medication because I prefer a natural way and challenge myself

@Jendol-cr4rl I don't take any medication for my anxiety after it took me 18 months to get off benzos I was prescribed. Quick fixes are just that, it takes time to train the mind and now I am pretty good. I recently got robbed by a friend I had helped and it doesn't bother me at all. Even the problems of the world and the lies they tell us don't have much impact on me any more. The key is not to mind about things you cant control.

Fascinating regarding the chewing of gum calming and switching off the anxiety. This very much ties in with how chewing stimulates the vagus nerve and takes one out of sympathetic to parasympathetic, as you said. Also why many people emotionally overeat, as it is very much something that calms and takes the person away from the discomfort that has often triggered them. Thank you for sharing as many helpful videos as you have, Mark.

This video contains some very useful ways to help eliminate 'negative' emotions/states people can find themselves in.... and this can happen to anyone. I would like to add to the breathing part (which is imperative) by saying to breath deep from the stomach slowly upwards though equally important is to change your physiology. That means to change your body posture to an upright position (standing) with your head upright and maintain this position for at least two minutes then notice that negative emotion dissipate. I often tell my clients BP.... Breathing and posture breathing and posture. Your physiology will always override your psychology. Do this simple technique (by practicing) then be in control of Your life. This is a very old practice (often used in martial arts) though with the Internet it can be shared worldwide as I share this ancient wisdom with YOU the reader. Best wishes to all.

The 20 jumps technique saved my life as I didn't know or had much of a reason to feel that much anxious when I had to get out from bed and perform outside, even after giving up going out I sill felt horribly anxious so I found this video and jumped on the kitchen some dozen times until wear out of breath and then I breathed a lot and felt normal in less than 2 minutes!

I wish I could hit a ❤️LOVE❤️ button for this video! Being ex-military, my Axis I sometimes reads like a shopping list with diagnoses such as MDD (reoccurring and severe), OCDs complicated by PTSD and GAD; this information has helped me to reevaluate what’s going on inside me. At times, it has given me the ability to examine and defuse anxious situations BEFORE they escalated into something more... Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks for going into detail and emphasising what's really important like breath out more than you breathe in, many people just say breath deep. Also the chewing gum I find interesting as I have recently started taking a drink with me every time I leave the house for when I get anxious and my mouth goes dry, I will be buying chewing gum asap. Liked and subbed.

These are very insightful tips. The only thing I was question is...with exercise, I've heard of a study that showed while 5 min of exercise can lift mood for depression, anxiety may time longer. The study suggested up to 40 min. So not sure about a quick set of jumping jacks. I get good relief from anxiety with about 20 min of the stair-stepper at the gym. After about 10 min I am soaking wet from sweat, then push another 10 or 15 min.. It's hard to do but my motivation is knowing I'm going to feel better after I finish...which I always do.
