What my therapist told me to think when I have anxiety. Okay so, think of anxiety as a lady that comes to your house (mind) and hits your door. Most of us we will not open because we are trying to fight those bad thoughts right? I am telling you, open the door. Let the lady come in, the lady in black I say, and be friendly with her. Drink coffer or tea make a scenario in your head. She will start telling you all of the bad things. Respond to her, I know. I fucking know, and it's okay. Make her understand that you don't care anymore. Make her afraid of you. Please try and never ever give up❤

I've been told to picture myself in a good place or try to have pleasant thoughts or meditate... jeez don't these dokcors understand that once you have a anxiety attack there is no way to put yourself in a better place 'cause one has enough trouble already to deal with the situation you are in already!! A tree and flowers on a meadow just don't do the trick that easily!!! For all those who think anxiety is they're own fault don't see it that way!!! I have the almost perfect life !! Great job , no money problems , no future worries no relationship troubles , no family drama yet still those attacks come !! thats why i am furious with doctors who seem to look down on you , thinking a little pill or long walks in the fresh air would help , like one is an idiot !

I had a SEVERE generalized anxiety disorder and can't believe how it went away. Now I have normal anxiety that's easy to shake off. At the peak of my GAD, there was absolutely nothing that would help. I got on medications, which helped to a certain extent. Then I added daily cardio. Then I started doing CBT on my own (all you need is a workbook, no need for an expensive therapist). Learn how to set boundaries, especially if there is a toxic relationship in your life. But to be perfectly honest, I think what cured my GAD is just letting time do it's wonders.

That second step for dealing with worry: after 24 years I finally realized this while talking with a friend who also has GAD. The key thing for me was to first realize that I was agitated (and had been for 24 years) and needed to calm down (I found humming the Taylor Swift song with those lyrics strangely comforting at that moment). Now after 24 years I am finally starting to feel a change back to what it was like before this happened. It took 24 years to realise: it destroyed a career, countless friendships and relationships and led to a life on constant Turbo charge. Feeling some sense of relaxation after 24 years...can't explain how good. Thanks Mike for your work. Good counsellors are hard to find in my experience, glad you're out there.

To get your day ahead seems very stressful, waking up everyday is putting me into a lot of worries and stress. Even though some of my family members aware of my anxiety they don't seem to fully understand how it works. All I hear from them is 'you have to go to work', if only it was that easy. Even if I wanted to, if the anxiety comes and attack me right then there's nothing I can do about it. My GAD is complicated further by Major Depressive Disorder, Agoraphobia and a bunch of other fears. Due to hyponatremia in the past, I cannot take SSRIs or SNRIs, so all my meds are only partially effective. I agree with the prior comments about never thinking about emotional trauma in the past being relevant. My parents were very overprotective, I'm an only child, and they taught me to fear almost everything, and never untaught me as I got older, so my fears are still stuck in a child's mind in my head. @KRAZEEIZATION3 жыл бұрын
@@olgaitz2553 Hi, how long has this being going on? Firstly the best thing is to get checked out by a GP and then a cardiologist to rule out any medical issues. Secondly I’d get help in the form of CBT, exposure therapy, to build confidence and accept you have health anxiety or cardiac phobia. Once that’s taken care of remember you are NOT your thoughts! You can think the world will end tomorrow but that’s just a thought, you have no proof! You might think “what if I get a heart attack?” But that does not mean you will, I mean you’d know if you did I’m sure. Don’t live in fear. Live every day fearlessly because the one life we have is every day. Just say no to your thoughts, let them wash over you. The best thing is cut out stimulates, wind down in the evening by talking a 30 min walk, stretch, have a shower or bath, avoid TV, phones and internet. Read a book, try deep breathing and muscle relaxing exercises. Go to bed early and get up early. Keep hydrated. Sleeping pils are not good because they eventually become a bad habit or disrupt natural sleeping patterns. I’m no expert but excessive worry, stress and lifestyle can cause sleep problems. 7:51 "the trouble with too many rules as a child is that it can then be hard to live in a more ambiguous reality. Much of adulthood doesn't have rules, or so sharply defined rules, so [someone with generalised anxiety disorder] may define their own rules, then worry that details aren't accounted for when planning or having things to do"

As for me, I lost my father when I was 11 and a lot of pets in the way too. I feel anxious all the time, I think I’m gonna lose my younger siblings or my mother, I’m always checking out if they’re breathing,I even dream about it. It’s so scary, it makes me anxious, makes my breath and heart tight, it’s awful. I’m 17 I don’t drink, don’t smoke, exercise, I don’t know what else I can do. Any tips ?

inwas suffering with it for last 2 years,...jst go through a health checkup, and be sure there is no phisical issues about your symptoms. when u realise the symptoms are just the manifestations of ur anxiety, and u start to accept it,it ll become milder with going of time.and do breathing exercise ,exercise, walking regularly.stay hydrated. and pray always.god bless you

it negative feed back loop. you get anxious though which makes more sensitive to anxiety even smaller thing you react to. also negative anxiety can grow just like snow ball. You have get your mind on some thing that does not worry you to break the negative feed back loop. once break the loop you still anxiety because with g.a.d it take more time for fight flight response to wind down. In engineering it would called positive feed back loop. in machine if positive response is to strong you get device that over reacts. in amplifier if put mic to close you get squeal. antidepressant help reduce the strength of the positive feed back.which means it easier to break the loop.

Listening to Kay’s story is similar to mine and in a way I believe some of my anxiety comes from my fear of also being like that unconsciously after being in such an environment for a while.

I told my boss where to stick his job, sold my house, and downsized to a cheaper lifestyle. Then I was beholden to no one, and while the stress never disappears, now twenty years later I'm happier than ever. Booze, drugs, and therapy are a waste of time. Just liberate yourself and follow your instincts.

I know where mine is coming from.. I was paralyzed for no reason...I'm recovered now but iv become so self aware of my body its always on my mind. I especially since the doctors could not find out what caused it.. What's worse is that drinking takes it away.. Makes you want to drink but I almost never do.

Thank you Mark. Id just like to say that your advice on exercise as aid to lower anxiety is spot on. I hate exercising but it's only thing that helps with my GAD. You do a wonderful job with your advice on youtube.

I'm struggling with anxiety for last 6 months.. I don't know if anyone have but I do have that all time face numbness, it starts between my eyes, and now it's all over my face, around mouth under eyes, my cheks,.. And it becomes worse when my anxiety kicks me harder.. Idk what to do anymore.. Don't won't to go on medication, I was prescribed zoloft 100mg.. But from anxiety I don't feel hunger at all, like my stomach is paralysed (since my anxiety it's coming from stomach).. Plus my sleeping it's so bad too.. Please if someone have same experience let me know here.. Thanks and God bless you all..

Liquid iodine on one's wrists helps slightly...first thing in morning... Breathing in through nose to a count of 4... hold to a count of 7... then let breath out through mouth to a count of 8... Do quite a few times throughout the day... Breathing in oxygenated country fresh air is the best...

Bit confused with these tips on GAD. As a high intensity NHS psychotherapist, I was trained in CBT for GAD using the Dugas et al and Borkovec models. GAD consists mainly of intolerance-to-uncertainty and worry. reassurance seeking is also prominent. people with can need to 'make certain' about things and regularly and disproportionately check and recheck tasks (they need all the information before they act), and rather do tasks themselves because otherwise they get anxious about others not doing the task completely right. There is an overlap with OCD in certain areas, especially relating to an over inflated sense of responsibility. People worry because they think it is functional (see Dugas), positive beliefs about worry. but there are also negative beliefs about worry (this is going to drive me mad, get a brain tumour etc), which of course is not true .Once these (positive and negative beliefs about worry) have been debunked, people tend to worry a lot less. I understand the relaxation part, Borkovec recommends Progressive Muscle Relaxation in their protocol. But both NICE/NHS protocols appear little resemblance to what is in the video. Moreover, a predisposition to GAD may be genetic, but the major source is learned usually by our primary care givers. GAD is contagious. the problem is that the more one worries, the more one gets anxious. Then there is a point where the anxiety sticks but we have to internally search what we are anxious about , then we find a reason and off we go again, worrying, its cyclonic. CBT helps to break this cycle.

If my GAD was triggered by self-image of being overweight (still overweight now) and stretchmarks everywhere, is accepting it or myself essentially the cure then, the worry of people seeing my marks or moobs as I was growing up triggered this I think.
