Wittchen is a great company, strong brand and great management. I love what Jędrzej Wittchen once said " We negotiate everything with everyone, that's the way we operate." They expand into western europe and offer best quality for bucks paid in their segment, which is "good but not samsonite type of good". I think Wittchen and Samsonite can exist in the same world.

You've made a video where you bought TTEC as well. Since it's down so much now, I wonder why it hasn't been taken up in this video, since if you bought it at 20, 6 -ish must be an even better bet (quoting Peter Lynch) ;) ? Or what are your thoughts on TTEC right now?
@TheSwedishInvestor8 ай бұрын
Hey MyG12349, it's a good question. The video you are referring to was one where I tried to pick a portfolio in just one sitting. I think I'm pretty clear in explaining that I only committed a very very small percentage of my total capital towards these companies, simply, because it's too little time to really evaluate and pick 10 companies. Even with that caveat, I think that the video should be able to teach a lot of people some basic thinking about stock picking, in a very practical manner which I don't really think that you see in many other places here on YT. TTEC is (so far) the worst pick from that portfolio. It's not a company that I have any significant amount of capital invested in, it's not a part of my "main" portfolio which is presented in the Patreon. For this reason, not much time has been spent with the company and I can honestly not say if it's a better pick now than it was at the time when I bought it in December. There are too many other companies that I find even more interesting and time spent on TTEC must be prioritized away form those companies, which is a tradeoff I'm not willing to make currently. With that said, there will be a small update in December this year, once that portfolio has been live for a year, which I think I state in the video too. After a year I think it's more resonable to discuss if it was a good idea to assemble a portfolio in a single sitting or not, and that will also decide whether I try to do it again or not. Cheers!

Really nice outperformance, just a couple of questions connected to the concentration of the positions and rebalancing within portfolio. How many stocks do you usually own in the portfolio or what is the usual % for one single position (you introduced half portfolio - 6 stocks so it might be 12 stocks)? How often do you rebalance and what is usually the selling trigger? Thank you.
@TheSwedishInvestor8 ай бұрын
Hey mike, cheers for the questions. There's usually 10-15 stocks in the portfolio and a single position, during the last few years at least, has been around 15% maximum. The rebalancing should be ~ish once every 6 months, but if Mr. Market is too irrational we might want to do something in between such periods too. The selling trigger is always based on opportunity costs. When we think that there are better opportunities out there, we will switch. Sometimes this is caused by a stock increasing too much in price, sometimes it's caused by a decline in the business that makes us uncertain about its future.

Hi man, just wanted to give you some feedback. I've started watching your videos a few weeks ago and I love them. I've seen that you've been getting very bad comments for the last videos, since you give specific stock advice. Honest question to the rest of the viewers, why? I find it hilarious that everybody loves a channel that gives information about picking stocks to beat the market, until it talks about picking stocks to beat the market, then suddenly everybody hates it. Anyways, I think a good alternative path for your channel would be financial education. I'm not taking about 'save your money invest it in the sp5000', but i have seen many people in the comments extremely lost about things like EBITDA for example. Maybe a video explaining the concept for beginners, as well as some more advanced discussions would be a great idea and well received by your subscribers. For the advance discussion, I know that investors at my firm strongly prefer turnover over ebitda, something related to that may be a good idea. Cheers, keep up the good work.

Why do you use EV to EBIT rather than EV to earnings or cashflow?
@TheSwedishInvestor8 ай бұрын
Hey mahernajjar1255, great question. If one uses, for example, EV/E, then companies with much debt are being punished twice. First, in the numerator, where we increase that number by adding back the net debt. Second, i the denominator, where we decrease that number by subtracting interest expenses stemming from that debt. Although we like to be careful with companies with much debt, that's a bit too harsh, we think. The same argument can be made for EV/Cash. One could of course do some adjusted calculation where the interest expenses are being added back in the denominator, and we've done some of that stuff historically. In fact, we like to look at an even more complicated metric, sort of an adjusted EV/EBI, but that's beyond the scope of this video and something that most wouldn't be interested in anyways/it doesn't add much.
@mahernajjar12558 ай бұрын
@@TheSwedishInvestor EV to EBI would be perfect, my reason not for liking EBIT is that taxes are a cost of doing business and in European market that cost can be quite high resulting in artificially low multiples. I would give your viewers the benefit of the doubt with some more advanced material or analysis on these videos because us that have watched all your book summaries before have good knowledge. Tack så mycket ock kämpa på!

Hey winterheat, great question. Some people might want to tackle the problem of stockpicking that way (Peter Lynch has made a comment about that as you might know), but I like to attack it from more of a numerical standpoint. So I tend to rank companies based on variables that represent the quality of the business (growth, ROIC, perhaps earnings stability) and price, and I'm then getting a list with the most qualitative companies at the lowest price at the top. I start from the top and check out the qualitative aspects of the company. Looking at EV/EBIT and talking about cashflows bro its not a good proxy. Why not talk about operating cashflows and/or free cashflows and talking ablut capital allocation? You can do better than this, i hope.
@TheSwedishInvestor8 ай бұрын
We focus more on ROIC, and typically, in a normal situation, a company with a high ROIC will also produce high "owner earnings", operating cashflows, free cashflows, or whatever you want to call it. Money that can end up in investors pockets.

I notice you focus on buying cheap stocks. However most of the time stocks are cheap for a reason. Which will make you fall inte valuetraps. You need to focus more on business quality. @TheSwedishInvestor8 ай бұрын
Hey alexc! Fair criticism, when focusing on cheap companies one must definitely try to avoid value traps, and it's difficult to know exactly where to draw the line. "Trash companies" is very exaggerated imo when speaking about companies that are market leaders with decent ROICs. "Trashier" than the biggest companies in the S&P that most people spend their time with? Absolutely, but they're also at 3-4x cheaper multiples :)
