Just to clarify, the California prop 65 cancer warnings are literally on almost everything. Im not defending fast fashion but those warnings don't necessarily indicate anything nefarious

I had no idea those fast fashion items came with cancer warnings. Another reason to stay away. I almost got suckered in as well! I have to keep reminding myself to not be impulsive and to try to build a permanent capsule wardrobe that has items that really bring out my personality

I recently started doing research on the 12 color seasons and it helped me out a lot with choosing clothes& makeup that compliment me. I would suggest looking up your season or having your colors done professionally. Wearing your colors make you look more vibrant, healthy, and put together.

I used to worry about repeating outfits until I read that Jackie Onassis did all the time. She had a formula for what looked good on her & she stuck to it. No fast fashion, just a steady rotation of classic looks.

I relate to your fragrance analogy. I chose a perfume I’d never worn before for my wedding and forgot all about it after I finished the bottle. On our 14th anniversary I bought a new bottle and I can confirm that even today 17 years after the day, one spritz of Lacoste Touch of Pink transports me right back to the best day of my life even though my taste in fragrance has drastically changed and it’s no longer something I reach for regularly, I like having it to lift my spirits on a bad day.

The makeup battle is real. I have fair olive skin and makeup brands don't usually cater to my skin tone. There are a few foundations and concealers that I can make work with some adjustments but sofar none that can be bought off the shelf. Also, as a teen, just about any red suited me but now that I'm in my 30's, I find the warmer and slightly less saturated reds work much better.

Have you tried Armani foundations and concealers? I’m also pale with a yellow green undertone and I have better luck with that brand. I use their Power Fabric concealer in shade 1 and mix it in any foundation to lighten it. Its perfect if you find a foundation with the perfect tone but it’s a little too dark.

Agree 100% on circulating trends! They never come back as they were before, they come with a twist. There is that 20% difference that stops us from reusing those items as-is and that makes me kinda sad/angry! For example, the platform heels - everybody knows the old school platforms and you can and will look kinda outdated wearing old clothing items. ☹️

The things you were talking about are definitely accurate and true but not detail specific as to why they make you look cheap. Example - seams and patterns that don’t line up, low quality buttons, stiff or rough fabrics. I think discussing the terrible smells of fast fashion was interesting for uneducated consumers but it might be helpful to explore how those same cheap plastic polyester polymers will degrade with bacteria and/or machine washing. You have a great aesthetic and a great voice for YT videos. Looking forward to more videos 💕

Wow- 3 videos in a 1-week period?!? I'm in heaven! 😍 Re. Dark lipstick for folks that don't usually go for it- I know this isn't revolutionary, but I LOVE Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick. It's nice & moisturizing, & very buildable, & even when the gloss finish kind of wears off, it still leaves a nice wash of berry color (it looks like a lip stain). Bonus: if you have green or hazel eyes, the purplish color will really make your eyes pop! 😉

Yaaaay, so happy to see KZbin FINALLY put you on my home screen again! They really need to fix what they show subscribers...grrrr. But, I just need to ask again, what is with the Akira hate? They're literally a hyper-local Chicago chain with maybe 6 out of 20 total locations outside of IL. They list maybe 10 or 20 new items a week, don't stock a crazy amount of units, and aren't cheap, price-wise. Plus, they have a lot of things they've carried for years and years. That's not really fast fashion, which is usually a term used for an international company that stocks tens of thousands of units, lists thousands of SKUs, and has a high item turnover rate with little to no seasonal or collection grouping. I've spent a lot of money there and have never received a smelly item. Yes, there are cheap poly pieces, but the fabric composition is the first item listed in the description and is pretty hard to miss, plus they look pretty cheap on the models and are easy to avoid. I just...there are so many bigger, badder brands that deserve the smoke. Why keep harping on a regional Midwestern brand with 20 locations?

😂😂😂 Concealer on lips.. I did that in 1986 - because I hated my big lips (being 1/2 😅black) thinking my big lips would somehow be less "visible" if I wore concealer... 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ OF COURSE the "mean girls" at school then teased me in front of everyone saying concealer is for blemishes not for lips... Never knew that actually became "a style" at some point... Now I'm nearly 50 - the world over is using lip fillers to make their lips bigger... 🤷🏽♀️ As they say: she who laughs last, laughs best!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Four years ago I bought somethng online but it wasnt from a CHEAP brand..oh no, it was from one of my fav midline stores. I live outside the US and I picked it up at a family memebers before I flew home..it was in sealed bag so I left it that way to pack it. Got home opened bag and.have never smelled that plasastlastictic bunrning smell on clothing. I thought maybe there are a fire in that warehouse...it was that bad. So I aired it out outside..1 day, 2 days, FIVE DAYs...no change! This thing was delicate lace so I washed it in woolite...hung to dry no change. So I soaked it for three days in woolite and then used Downey fabric softener. After air drying it smelled almost as intense! I could NOT believe this. The item is pretty it was a coverup for many summer dresses . So I put in in the back of the closet and said it will dissipate by next summer. NO it didnt! At least that smell didnt migrate onto OTHER clothes since I had done so MUCH to this thing. I am a STUBBORN WOMAN now I was really. Really PISSED at this smelly thing. I wished I could say I lit it afire inside an outdoor barrel but nooooo,I NEVER give up. Thats me. Four YEARS later I still reach for it in the back and give it sniff every Spring. Yep still there . I am determimed NOW this @$$;× thing is going to die when I DIE! I WILL defeat it and I will conquer it...I am now determined to be BURIED IN THIS P.O.S. There it sits in back taunting me....BUT I AM NOT DEAD YET! MAYBE IT WILL GIVE ME IMMORTALITY AND IT AND I WILL LIVE FOEEEEEVER.

Yes, it sounds inhumane to us. It is best to put things into their cultural context though. Ideally, people would be paid enough to live on. That often doesn't happen in third world countries. So, the child who is working is making it possible for the family to eat that day. Which is crueler, making the child work or starving the family? Until things change, that is the cold hard reality. You can always start a non-profit and go try to change it.
