The biggest issue with carplay is that when you get a call during navigation, it flips to the call screen and then you have to come back to the navigation app. It is even more annoying if yo dont have a touchscreen so you have toogle back every time. Is there a solution for this?

I have a new Sony head unit in one truck with Carplay that I always use, and a 2018 F150 that has factory CP that I always use but neither display my garage door button when I leave or get home but it does display the shortcut on my phone when I get home. Is there a setting or shortcut that has to be turned on to make that happen?

thanks. so what happens when there's an incoming call? does the maps screen get minimized in favor of the call screen? this would be an issue when navigating a tricky spot using one of the maps apps. thanks,.

My cars came with wireless CarPlay from the factory, and I have an automation setup to text me when I reach 80% charge. This way, I can use wireless CarPlay as well as plug in the phone to charge, then unplug it when it reaches the point where I want to make sure that the phone doesn’t get too hot and kill the battery life. I can unplug it when I get the 80% charge warning text, and my music or podcast isn’t interrupted. I’ve really grown to love this setup.

Doing this is unnecessary. Modern lithium ion batteries are smart and are made to not overcharge itself, does not harm the battery if you keep it plugged in, same goes for iPhone batteries, they don’t charge past 80% in the night to conserve battery life. Cool tech.

I don't see any new apps at all when I activate CarPlay. Which is very disappointing but then again the last thing I want is a pizza from Domino's 🤢 I have colleagues who have wireless CarPlay and others who do not have that feature. I guess it depends on the car manufacturer, huh? IMO, the standard should be wireless. Seems like the best fit.

I have a 2024 car with apple CarPlay. It got set up at the dealership. Here’s a question for anyone tech savvy. It works well but how does it work? Eg I turn off wifi and blue tooth on the phone, then go to the car turn it on and the CarPlay works! How? Is the car connected to the phone in some other way or is it just magical.

I had the same problem but deleted the garage doors and adding them again fixed it. It can also be up to the developer to support car play since it can be a security feature

The garage door option is cool, but it kinda sucks if you have more then 1 garage door. It will often times bring up the wrong door on CarPlay and there is no way to switch it.

One tip that a lot of people miss is that you can arrange the order of apps in CarPlay settings on your phone.

Wireless CarPlay has audio latency which is annoying and also on navigation the map is 2 to 3 seconds behind. As a result I only use it plugged in and wish it didn’t have these issues 😢

It depends. On my Jeep where it had native wireless CarPlay there is almost no lag. Very slightly, like maybe half a second. Some adapters have slower processors so it depends which you use. 3 seconds isn’t working right

Why when connecting my iPhone to the car by cable CarPlay does not activate,the car screen freezes on my link ,not all the time just at the wrong times, you can still have voice controls,radio,Spotify just no maps on the car screen. Travel a short distance and stop for fuel or anything get back in the car and maps works perfectly?? Why. Tried changing cables,turn off car and restart,tried turning off phone and restarting nothing seems to make it work, is it glitch???. Do you have any thoughts ??. Traveled to Queensland from south oz and back over a two week period and it happened once.

until they make it possible to watch KZbin while driving, all these things are unnecessary, nothing special, the original navigation that comes with almost every car now is quite enough. in short, Apple car play and Google car play until they have complete freedom to watch KZbin in the car itself, everything else is unnecessary.

I find CarPlay to be such a dumpster fire. I don't know anyone who likes it, but cars have it built in automatically now, so we have no choice.
