Thanks, I learned about holding the button for 3 seconds and doing voice command for text , phone call, and directions. I always waited until I was stopped or park. I am going to try voice to pick a tune that I want to listen to.

Thank you, Steve, we’re waiting for our new Toyota RAV4, and this will be my first Apple CarPlay vehicle as our previous ones were purchased the year before CarPlay was on all vehicles. I have a rather sheepish question to ask. If I’m listening to the radio from the cars system does the radio or audio cut out when I go into CarPlay or will it continue playing music and only pause if and when I interact with Siri?

If there’s a video for the following question, let me know. What’s the easiest way to switch from my phone to my wife’s phone when she gets in the car without me? We share a 2024 RAV4. I’m primary driver. As it is now, when she takes the car, she has to go to Settings and Bluetooth to make the system pick up her phone settings. Is there a way that the vehicle will automatically detect her phone and switch from my phone to hers? I hope my explanation is clear.

I know for me I am listed as secondary. Naturally it will default to my wife’s phone if she is with me. When I am by myself it will automatically pick mine. If it doesn’t just have her tap on the Toyota icon and go to the Bluetooth and pick her phone to connect.

Hello I’m using CarPlay for the first time. And I’m using Google Maps as my default for maps. Whenever I want to hear directions the volume is too low. But I’m listening to music at the same time. I raise the volume for the navigation, but the music gets too loud as well. Is there a fix for this thank you and have a great day

Why doesn’t my phone or iMessage come up on my CarPlay? When I push the talk button it says I don’t have that app ( phone) and that I have to download it. Everything else works fine when I push the talk button for music, maps. Etc.

You're asking if a Gamin stand-alone GPS is better than the maps in CarPlay? Considering that the Garmin doesn't show on the car's display screen and doesn't use voice commands through the car's audio system, I'd say yes! The Garmin may have other benefits but I'd use the phone.

CarPlay is unrealted to the app. I can't speak to Chevy and I know that BMW actually charges for the use of CarPlay. WIth Toyota, if you have CarPlay in the car, any Apple phone will work regardless of any account or app.

When I have music going when I get a txt I can hardly hear it. I turn up the volume it still doesn’t get louder. My other issue is I sort of have Apple are play yet when 8 got to setting on my iPhone to Bluetooth I see its say Toyota I try and pair and it never does.

Hi I see you know how to navigate everything. I got a 2024 Rav4 XLE Limited but it does read my mp4 videos files from USB like my 2018 Rav4 had. How do I get it to work?

It should work the same. It will not play a video file on the screen but should play the audio content. Plug the drive into the USB port in front of the shift lever. Use the "Mode" button on the steering wheel to toggle through the audio sources until I hits the USB port.

@@TrainerSteveClifford Thanks, it does play the audio files but I just wanted the video files. When you hold the mode button, will just pause the sound. I installed NAVIKS but it still won't work. I'm sure there is a override code for video output. I ordered a OBD scanner to get to the code. Hopefully that will work without going back to the dealership.

@@GingerSpice414 The dealer will not be able to help with this. What you're asking is beyond the design specs of the vehicle. I have no idea what NAVIKS is but I'm assuming it is an aftermarket device to allow video to be played on the system. Toyota and Toyota dealers will not help with this as it is a federal safety regulation you're trying to get around.

@@GingerSpice414If I’m not mistaken it will play videos from the usb when in park. If you try while driving it will only play audio. Hope that helps

cant you stop your car and use your phone much more simpler.this is a gimick and costly .are people that dumb that they want to talk to their car, i guess its just plain dumb,,,,and a flash that will come and go,.people are desperate ,,,enjoy your robotics ,got to stop and make a call ,.im loving this.and not paying extra bonus plus oh and i do no this post has aged,,,.makes no difference,.but i will still get a reply saying this post is 2 years old .gotcha your point.//
