Thanks for the tips! I fall every time and can't wait to try these tips next season. How about the rope tow that has the seat that goes between your legs? Any tips for that? Thanks, love all your videos!!

The HCSC rope Tow is so nice, but it also really sucks, maybe it changed, this is my experience during session one.Being 13 and just a bit shorter that the average adult, I had lots of difficultly riding it. As a good example, I knocked over the Crab Grab signs. Twice. My failure to success rate was 8-1 on the first day, but the final day, it was 1-14. it was My first day was hell, and I ended up giving up and walking to the mini pipe for the clinic. It I think the most vital tip is to REALLY lean in on your back foot, and let it take you up. I also had trouble on getting the bar up, I grabbed onto the solid part and just sorta flung it up. Just one push is all you need, and leaning on the hard part makes it a little more of a smooth ride. I also found in the beginning sort of letting the wire run through your hands is a good way to get a little prepared, and holding it just when you push, until you are firm onto the handle. Stay steady, knees bent, don't let the little bumps that were there fly you around. Don't try wake board style your first time, but you can do that if you get a little desperate, or you're under 5 foot. It actually quite a bit of fun once you get the hang of it, and STAY RELAXED, and don't tense up.

Thanks for the video! One of the mountains around here has a very short rope tow that people used to get up the little hill from the bottom of the lift to the lodge area. I never used it because I was afraid of falling. maybe I'll give it a try next time I'm there. it is a little different than the one in your video, it has no handles and the track wheel is vertical so there are 2 ropes on either side going the same direction. Do you find it easier to grab the rope from in front of or behind you?
@gabbyburke9897
@gabbyburke9897 7 жыл бұрын
ugh there's a mountain near me that's tiny, where it only snows once every few years, but they have an old fashioned tow system where you have a weird metal clamp thing called a nutcracker and for the first few feet you just have to hold onto the rope to pull yourself until you can get a free hand and wrestle the nutcracker over the rope. skiers are fine with it but on a snowboard it's hell.

No. I'm not thinking of a chairlift. Those are benches that you sit on. You rest on a T-bar. They're kind of shaped like anchors. Those are the one in Alberta.

+still dissapointed yeh I learnt that the hard way, having someone shout at you in French because you're holding up the line doesn't help! Putting it between my legs with one leg unstrapped didn't quite work with those rocket propelled lifts

The resort I'm boarding at has this t-bar where the rod is kinda falling off to the right (it's lower then on the left side) and if I would just go with it my weight would probably pull me to the right and I would most likely fall.. So far I always faught the rod there and somehow managed not to fall but I am struggling every time I get there and it's allways a close call.. Does someone have an advice for me to make it easier ?

The HCSC rope tow is evil. It wants to kill you. There are so many bumps and it throws you everywhere trying to knock you off. I have never had any trouble with rope tows till I went there for camp. Only fell off once all week, but damn it took all my focus to make it up in one piece.

The thing is, the sport of snowboarding is there to speed up the physical activity until when you can defend yourself that the listener should get talked down to for slowness, so all snowboarding means is others owe you a reason why you're uneducable.

@Thekidisalright

Peoples People because when you exit, you can push off with your free foot instead of bunny hopping away from it, which is faster and won’t jam up the exit area.

That's not safe though. If you fall off, you don't have a foot to help you get out of the way of the person behind you. A guy in front of me did that once and at least five people behind us ran into me. It must have looked like dominos. But it can hurt someone. Keep a foot out.
@MrNewtothetown
@MrNewtothetown 8 жыл бұрын
thats what me and everyone else does here in the Midwest and if you fall just quick hop out of the way besides look how much space there is between the handles, also handle tows are relatively slow but rope tows are a lot faster and no one spaces them out also they get rutted out and it is easier to get through them strapped in. plus you can just hop on the rope and get off right away instead of having to strap in or out Also you foot could slip off your board and then you fall, try it this winter and it will be easier trust me just do it.
