Hey Chad, I have completed my Six Sigma Yellow Belt - Logistics. When I started Six Sigma - Logistics I was growing within that career, but have started taking a liking to IT/Programming. Would you recommend/suggest I start over within the Six Sigma-IT Programming field or would it be more beneficial with Logistics? I wasn’t sure if some of the curriculum was the same for all fields until a certain belt or if starting at the beginning when switching fields would be best. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks my man!

That’s a tough question…there are many factors that would impact my answer. Before I give you any suggestions, just know (disclaimer): you are in control of your career journey…as much as anyone can be…sometimes it’s just luck. You certainly shouldn’t take advice from some yay-who like me😂. However, I love helping people as much as I can…and since you asked me the question, I’ll attempt to help - but I wanted to provide the disclaimer first. Here we go…How many years have you been in logistics? If it’s 1-3 years, perhaps switching career paths isn’t that big of a deal if you’re between the ages of 22-27…this means that you are young and don’t have Aron of experience so switching is simple. There is a book I read called: Atomic Habits (I think) that discussed “career capital”. The more career capital you build - the less likely I’d recommend switching. So, please think about how much career capital you’ve built in Supply Chain. If it’s a lot, consider staying unless you’re not happy…happiness is important - but so is money (unfortunately). Supply chain is an incredible field! I know I’m not giving you a strait answer. Like I said, there are so many variables that would impact my response. Think about your career capital…write down (on paper) where you’d like to be in your career in the next 3-5 years. Money, position, title, company, etc. (I did this years ago and still revise the plan). Then think of where you are now…which path gets you to where you want to be the fastest? In IT, six sigma is a little different - I believe it’s called SCRUM. Research that term and you should get a better idea of Six Sigma in IT. I’ll ask just one more question that is extremely important: why do you are in interested in IT? Write down the top 3 reasons you’d switch from SC to IT. Compare that list with your 3-5 career goals. Let me know what you come up with! I know I’m not helping you much here but trying to give you some process tactics to formulate your decision. Tactics I’ve used myself! Let me know if this helps (or not). Thanks for your support here on the channel! It means a ton to me!

Chad is there any chance you offer coaching etc? I’d like to have some simple phone calls etc to pick your brain and ask questions . Just got my green belt and have 3 years experience in manufacturing, am active in process improvement projects and am seeking that first promotion into CI or management

Hello. New subscriber here. I have an extensive background in Technician and Manufacturing work, and I’d really like to become LSSGB certified. Where should I start when it comes to training? What’s a good training program that’s not too expensive?

Hmm...You can. get some really great, FREE content on www.sixsigmacouncil.org to get certified, you'd need to pay but it's quite competitive and the information on this site is outstanding! Hope this helps! Appreciate your support on this channel! 🙏

Hi. I have 2 questions - Im looking for a job as supervisor in automotive industry, so far i have been working as team leader. Will learning LSS be helpful for achieving my goal? - What belt would be suitable for me? I believe green belt would be enough. Thanks

Yes.if I were you, I’d focus on Lean. Easier concepts to understand but difficult to implement for some places simply because Lean is about people and behaviors. A lean six sigma cert would benefit your efforts but it’s one piece of the puzzle. Root Cause Analysis is also extremely valuable…for a supervisor role, GB is certainly enough. Maybe even YB…but again, knowing how to apply the tools and how to demonstrate your understanding on your resume/cv are also imperative. Hope this helps!

@@learnkaizen Thank you very much. Lean is creating the best value product for a customer and is widely implemented in "my" factory. I had an opportunity to be a part of interim/improvement team and i really liked it, that's why i started with 6Sigma just got my SSWB.

Yes. is the a way to do job search for that specific title? If, not look up jobs/roles in lean, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, etc!

You say to start where you are right now.... I am a commercial HVAC & Plumbing installer, I do make processes and implement process improvement, 5s and maybe not 6 but like 3 sigma into the field but construction from what I have seen doesn't appreciate these types of thoughts much. You won't get paid more for saving money or giving consistent quality. Would you suggest a different field all together? I don't know of any construction fields that want lean. I'm siting here with a Green Belt and can't find a job with it. Maybe just ignorance.

Thank you for your support!!! Lean (and all that falls under the umbrella of lean) isn’t a very popular topic/category on KZbin. So, folks like you keep me motivated to continue making videos so I can help the few folks that watch/subscribe to the channel. It’s a lucrative specialty - I’ll talk more about that in my video. Thanks again and thank you for the video idea!🙏
