Apologies for the distraction. I’ve been asked about my accent many times and not sure why it comes across Australian (which I’ve been told) - some people have said British, Southern, etc…I’m southern…born and bred! I’ve never heard that my accent was distracting but there’s a first for everything! AI in Lean.... CEO's would agree with me that we can't rely on human "behavior" to deliver sustained performance. Instead, we use AI to monitor and ensure (almost force) people performance (KPI), and also use AI driven predictive analytics to proactively predict performance failures before it impacts the organization. In this generation, there's no such thing as CI culture as people tend to be more concerned about themselves first before the organization. So yes it's possible for AI to perform the role of a Lean consultant, even better.
@learnkaizenАй бұрын
A lot has changed in the realm of AI in the last 6 years when I was originally approached with this question, for sure. AI is rapidity approaching sentience which I would’ve considered an idea reserved for Hollywood, just 10 years ago. I’ve been heavily involved in AI this year and agree that AI will have the ability to take over most white and blue collar jobs. In manufacturing, AI won’t need to force KPI adherence because customer’s and supplier’s AI will just communicate directly with the robots that have replaced humans to increase production, control inventory levels and achieve the JIT we all love. Back office jobs aren’t safe either. AI will have the ability to replace most humans in the current job market. The question is how will the dominos fall and when. Yes, the train is on the tracks but how long will it take, no one really knows (maybe we should ask AI😃). I politely disagree with your comment regarding CI culture in this generation. I have worked for two prominent companies in the last decade that have strong CI cultures with no sign of decline. Thank you for your comment and watching the video. I think I need to do an update video based on its age and changes I’ve seen.

Trying to reduce waste in a company that buys and sells properties (trading). How would I apply this if there are different processes depending on thow they sell and how they have acquired their leads?
@learnkaizenАй бұрын
I would need more information to really help on this one…but I’ll try to provide some ideas based on what you’ve presented and my past experience. First, Figure out commonalities and bucket those together. For example: the different processes you mentioned based on how they sale and acquire leads. Determine the longest process based on steps to complete. Most of the other processes will require some of the same steps to complete - not 100% of the same steps but many. Figure out which processes flow the same or very close to the same. Focus your energy on the top 80% of the processes that have the same flow. Don’t worry about the other 20%. Remove wastes from the 80%. Please understand, it’s quite difficult to explain this in a KZbin comment but take what I’ve written and research: PQPR which stands for part quantity and process routing. You should come to a resolution…let me know how it goes!

Thank you for explaining it in a very understandable way. I understand that you have provided this example for a better understanding and it very much clarified my doubt, but i have one small doubt in the example which you have provided. You have mentioned that for a process to be 6sigma, the avg/mean should be 6 sigma away from the nearest specification limit, so in this example , is 3 sigma approach enough to achieve the requirement?

Chad, when you are talking about the audit portion what type of audit sheet did you typically use? Ive seen it done as a scale of 0-5, points based, and maybe % based? You mentioned percentages in your video here. Im the champion of our 5s program and the audits (along with w visual management tool) are my biggest challenge. Thanks!
@learnkaizenАй бұрын
I’ve used both percentages and a point scale. The important thing to remember is educating the team. We don’t want to grade them into the ground, we want to encourage positive behaviors and grading of any kind does the opposite in my experience. Even if they maintain 5S - it’s because they fear a bad score and instilling fear doesn’t ensure they understand the ‘WHY’ 5S is important and works against a lean culture. Here’s what I’ve done that works well- pick a small area with a team that is semi-bought into 5S…teach them why it’s important and then work with the team to 5S an area they work in everyday. Get dirty if you need to but show them you’re invested in their 5S because it’s that important. Bringing the team along this way makes them part of the solution - which gets buy-in, and creates a sense of pride to keep it that way. At the end, ask if this is the way they want it…then take a picture of the newly 5S’d area and post it to the area. The grading is binary- either a smiley face or frown face for quick reference…use red and green as well. Here’s how to grade the area: if no one is working in the area, the area should look like the picture. If it doesn’t, it’s red…if it does, it’s green. That’s it! It’s simple and works wonders. Let me know how it goes!

Quick question: What is the edition of Handbook, that you are showing in this video? Secondly, are these tips and tricks still valid for exam in 2024? How many weeks/months good to prepare when you have 5 yrs of experience in Production as a Project Engineer.
@learnkaizen2 ай бұрын
Handbook is outdated…newer versions are available on Amazon. Yes, tips and tricks still relevant in 2024. Can’t answer your last question because it depends on your current level of knowledge regarding the Six Sigma Body of Knowledge, including applied statistics. I would encourage you to download the body of knowledge on the ASQ website. It’s free to download. Then buy the handbook and determine where your weaknesses are, then set a plan to shore up those weaknesses (assuming there are any)…hope this helps! 🙏

@learnkaizen2 ай бұрын
No, but there is a channel that focuses on PM heavily. I’ll post a link to the channel at the end of this comment…six sigma is good but I would focus more on lean, Root Cause Analysis and Kaizen..I have a master Black Belt and speak from experience…you just need to know how to fix business problems and rarely do I see anyone using six sigma (actually never) if you see it on a job description, it’s because they want someone who knows how to fix a problem but the person writing the JD doesn’t know how to articulate what they want and feel that six sigma encapsulates everything-but it doesn’t! Six Sigma projects take 4-6 months to complete…businesses need faster response times! This isn’t tru for 100% of job postings with six sigma in the JD but I’d argue it’s about 98%. Hope this helps. I have a video showing how I create problem statements to perform root cause analysis. That same technique can be used for kaizen.
@learnkaizen4 ай бұрын
@@puteracamaro just to elaborate- when defining a problem for a Kaizen event, be sure you are focused on one key metric that needs to be resolved and stay away from percentages. Use metrics like time: lead time, cycle time, takt time, etc….or money like inventory costs or missing revenue from sales and finally occurrences like number of defects. Keep scoping until you have the problem focused on one specific metric and process! This is extremely important for a one week event. Be sure the Kaizen links back to a specific business KPI like Quality, Cost and Delivery. If you don’t have a standard, you cannot Kaizen…you can run a boot camp or workshop to implement a standard but Kaizen events require an existing standard. Hope this helps!

So I currently work for a transport and logistics warehouse as an order picker but would like to move up to inventory supervisor due to my spot on picking record and strong attention to detail. I don’t have a college degree but I heard from a coworker that I can get a six sigma green belt certification and that it’s equivalent to a college degree. Is that true? And if it is do those kind of companies hire people with those kind of certifications to work those kind of positions?
@learnkaizen5 ай бұрын
The short answer is, yes. Companies hire people with the SSGB cert for positions mentioned. However, without documented experience, it will be difficult landing the ideal position at the ideal company getting paid an ideal salary. You may need to start anywhere that will allow you to use the skills even if the situation isn’t ideal…use the opportunity to build up your experience and skills for a couple of years. Be sure to document your wins based on the metrics you improved. You can use those metric based improvements on your resume as documented proof that you know how actually apply the skills learned to help companies. This is what companies really want…people who know how to apply the skills. Hope this helps! Thanks for the question and if you have more questions, please ask. 🙏
@connorstrawn71095 ай бұрын
So you’re saying if I go ahead and get my SSGB I would still have to wait 2-3 years before I can become a supervisor? And that I should still do the job I’m currently doing while also trying to improve the business using six sigma principles?
@learnkaizen5 ай бұрын
@connorstrawn7109 if you’re goal is to be a supervisor, I’d look at the job description which should layout the expectations of the role. Then I’d make a list of my current skills that match the job description and areas I need to shore up. Then I’d work to learn those skills I’m deficient in. You wouldn’t necessarily have to wait 2-3 years…
@connorstrawn71095 ай бұрын
Ok thanks! I’m just debating whether to do it this way or apply for one of those college programs that let me get my bachelor’s degree in business in 2 years and then get hired on as a supervisor. But of course there’s always the question of which will pay more.

@connorstrawn7109 I think you’ll have more options with the degree…you can always get the green belt after the degree - which will just increase your attractiveness…
