thank you for being so helpful and friendly! it helps a lot not only to get pointers what to try to fix the problems, but also feel that we are not alone in this and to have somebody pointing out problems with a bit of humor! 😄 (yes, i thought about switching to viola several times already...)

I also just bought a Kaplan non whistling e string from my luthier. Best 10$ I ever spent. It’s more forgiving for us beginners and when playing is more enjoyable we learn more

Dear mam Mam screw of my violin bow is not loosening and tightening the bow .. what to do now?? Should I take it to a luthier ... I tried turning the screw clockwise and anticlockwise but it didn't worked ... Mam pls tell what should I do now
@violinlounge3 жыл бұрын
Probably the ring the screw goes through inside the frog needs to be replaced. Don't worry, a bow maker or luthier can do this quickly and it won't be expensive.

Thank you for your useful advice. You were playing with vibrato which usually sounds better anyway. I only started this year so it will be several months before I learn how to do vibrato.

I have a question my bridge isn't really straight or should I say it is leaning towards the finger board but it still sound quite the same, should I take it to a luthier already to replace the bridge or is it okay to play it as it is? Will it cause me trouble if I continue playing with it?
@violinlounge3 жыл бұрын
If the bridge is just not standing straight, you can easily fix this yourself: violinlounge.com/how-to-straighten-the-bridge-of-your-violin-or-viola-and-prevent-damage/ If the bridge is curved, you might need a new one. If you don't do anything, the bridge can break or collapse and bring damage to your instrument.

Do you have advice or can you make a video on the following issue: I have pretty small hands and fingers and I've already worked hard enough for my pinky to be able to reach far enough BUT I can only do this when my first and second finger are apart. Let's say we're on the A string. If I have to play a c (so the second finger is right next to the first one), I can't reach the e with my fourth finger, it's either flat (something between d and eb) or if I hit the e, the second finger slides down to the position of a c#. What can I do ? 😢 I'm really frustrated with some Sevcik exercises because of that problem...

I have a video coming up on this topic April 14th!
@jklsb3 жыл бұрын
@@violinlounge this will be a life saver ! Thank you so much 🙏 I even tried taping my first and second finger together so they can't move apart lol. It's not that I can never reach the right spot with my pinky, it's jst when first and second finger are together. Also, the last knuckle of my pinky is bent inside, so it points in the opposite direction than my other fingers but oh well, that's my anatomy
@anapo73333 жыл бұрын
@@violinlounge I follow too. I have the same exact problem. No matter how much I turn my elbow my pinky just won't reach so I end up playing flat. When I really try to extend as much as possible my pinky I build so much tension. I can't play a B major scale without moving my hand in a shifting manner. I'm sure there must be some other way to approach this small hand problem.

Dear mam , Mam today while packing my violin bow in case ; I loosened the bow and put it back in the plastic covering .but mam bychanced I loosened it too much and in that plastic covering only ; the frog of bow came out and it resulted in twisting of violin bow hair . After that, I made bow out of that covering ..and now the bow hair are twisted ..what to do now???

Untwist and screw back the frog 🐸

Dear mam Mam hair of my volin bow are twisted and are on each other ; therby making violin bow hair as thinner from middle .I tried straightening each and every hair to make it thicker but was unsuccessful ..Right now ,Now bow hair are thinner from middle of the bow .. Should I get a rehair from Luther?
@violinlounge3 жыл бұрын
If you can't untwist them, a rehair might be the solution.

I am not really a begginer, I play for five years but my e string is so squeaky nowadays that I can't even practice. I just changed my string, I cleaned and searched if there is any problem in a point the string touches. but it still makes a very annoying noise and I am so frustrated. I've been practising scales for a very long time so there shouldn't be any problem with my bow technique :(
@violinlounge Жыл бұрын
Didn't you rosin your bow too much?
@adambeanstock14133 жыл бұрын
I wonder if they had a whistling E string on a Baroque violin being all made out of gut. Introduction of metal may have been the culprit on the modern violin. Adam Beanstock.

True! Although gut strings have different problems.
