Actually LZJ is a very good all around player. He has great speed for his height. Not the fastest but fast enough to match most players. He has good height. Probably one of the tallest in the sport so now. He has good defence and has probably the best offence in game right now. The only downside is his experience and mentality

Agreed. However what he showed (for everybody to see) in the recent Sudirman Cup was, his unshaken "I'm not going to lose to you" mentality (I felt sorry though, for Ginting being on the receiving end .. he's such a good player)(and Mamota, despite being described by pundits as "at his best" or "nearing his previous performances" ~ he was up-ended in two, albeit, close sets)

His hunched-back smash is quite powerful. This technique allows him to generate powerful and steeper smash without using full arm swing. He uses forearm pronation to generate steeper angle and hunches his back at the last moment to add the shoulder/back-muscle power into his shots. This also enables him to carry out the full smash in faster time. His arms follow-through is also short and his racket doesn't crosses the body in his follow-through movement, unlike the other players where the racket crosses the body and the person has to land 180degrees rotated after the smash. Although it is unconventional and hard, but it is also very effective and very fast smash with a very fast recovery time.

I think those shots if taken as smashes will be straining to right side of body. Pay attention the shuttle is on top left corner, not overhead. Converting it into a backhand smash like what Lzj does here could actually be faster, less strain and achieve better angle than forcing an overhead smash.

very astute observations and excellent example footage from your research. some of these things like the pirouette backhand smash may work well for him, and others may not work as well for him. for example, if you study his jump smash you see the he is not rotating his hips, so he needs to use an abdominal crunch to generate power. this leaves his feet in a slightly awkward position for singles (though maybe ok for doubles). he may be able to manage that now but this idiosyncracy may not age well
