I grew up in Australia, and the milkman had two 4-cylinder 1932 Ford pickups. Then there were International, De Soto, Ford, Dodge, Studebaker etc pickups in the 1950s. And locally made Holden and Ford Falcon pickups. Plenty of material there to make more tapes.

The Thames trader was never a Pickup.. it was a truck pure and simple.

maybe the Hudson collectors could also try and find a 1932 Ford Ute made in Australia which was a coupe utility production model rather than a pick up.

I've got a 38 Hudson pickup body and suspension that was given to me to get it off a piece of property 30 years ago. I've always wanted to turn it into a street rod . But maybe now ill put it up for sale on the restoration market.

The Thames Trader looks a lot like a "all-terrain" french Marmon (conceived by a small manufacturer in the late 50's but sold only after mid-60's) which was powered by a Simca V8 (which was a Ford Europe V8 from the 30's) (...yes, no Diesel at the time -not until... 1995 for the militarian version). Coincidence?

@daleolson3506. - You're dead right their. Especially regarding the 'Thames Trader' lorry. If they were all so "Rare", why were half of the small vehicles on 'lowered' (Boy Racer) type suspension. If you 'restore' a Rare vehicle of any type you put it back to it's 'Original' condition, - you don't mess it up by 'lowering' it.

The Cadillac truck is known as a flower car or truck. They put flowers in the back for funeral processions. There were quite a few car makers manufacturing these vehicles

The Mercedes 170 pickup and van I remember well from the early 1950, but I admit there weren't many around. The Tempo Matador, however, was not a rare view, and in 1951 we used a Tempo Matador (with VW engine) for the move to Cologne (about 20 km; 2 trips). OK, most people may not remember these days, but calling the VW 'Bully' a "rare pickup" must be a joke!!! (And: Tempo did not choose the Austin engine for power reasons. VW stopped selling engines to Tempo because they had started building their own transporter, the T1. A few minutes of investigation would have shown this.)

Trans axle were the weak spot on VW busses a paving contractor I worked for saw them broken on the highway regularly . Nash had a prototype PU that might be the rarest,. They should 've prjoduced it.

@@daltonyoung1749 you need to Google flower cars . Some of them were good looking cars . That being said , all of them were nothing more than a hearse with the rear part of the roof removed . If you look closely, you can see the lower portions of the rear doors are still in place and functional . All three of them .

@@James-xo4uv it's for sure a mod , but nice . I had to check on the engine , they only used a v-8 for one year , 1955 . But I think it said Hudson on the valve cover , must have been costom. It nice to see them restored , but better to modify if no parts are available, than crush it Ps , yea , with a roots blower , duh , my bad

I was going to subscribe to your channel but your video did not live up to its billing because I heard of all of those trucks and then fastly because I had heard of all the trucks before I felt like I had just wasted my time and my time that I would never be able to get back maybe you should describe your videos a little bit differently definitely disappointed and I regret that I cannot get that time back

In all transparency I thought you were going to come with a list of trucks but I had never heard of before and when you did not I was disappointed 😞 it is what it is do better next time and to be totally honest with you in my opinion none of the trucks on that list or even that rare except for the terrapin. Oh and by the buy how the hell do you figure that repairing or making modifications to a Cadillac modified truck is going to be a hard thing to do when Cadillac parts are all over this planet like sands of The hourglass?

How old are you??. The reason why horsepower rating is so low because it was a old mathematical formula and it is far different then today's ratings. Example. 1969 L88 427 435hp. Was more like 550hp.. even top fuel was rated at 4000-5000hp. And now they dyno at 11000 + hp.. also take into account that compression ratios back in the engines of the early years were 6-1 7-1 . Gasoline was very low octane. Gasoline has changed over the years so much that even tuning the older cars to run on today's fuel is a task. So go ahead and laugh at the 200hp rating. It's more likely making 300-325hp. And has 6-1 compression. Small cams and it as smooth as silk at idle.. that's the way they were made..

@@edwardmedeiros5464 how old are you ? By 1972 General Motors had gone from the old " gross horsepower rating " system which doesn't take into account any power robbing accessories to the " net horsepower rating " system , which included the air conditioner, and power steering equipment . The compression ratio had been dropped from ten and a half to one down to eight to one in order to run on the new lead free gasoline mandated by the EPA . IDK where you got your information from , but you desperately need to find another source .Oh yeah , the L-88 , 427 was rated at 430 HP for the sole purpose of trying to fool the sanctioning bodies of the different racing organizations . However , everyone in the racing world knew that it made 550 HP. The 427/435 was the L-71 option with three , two barrel carbs . The Top Fuel engines back then only made between four and five thousand horsepower because they weren't running the huge 14/71 superchargers of today , nor did they have the dual magneto ignition systems that they have today . Cylinder head and camshaft designs are leaps and bounds far superior to what was available in 1975 . How do I know all of this , because I was there and lived thru it .
